I threw together this first revision at about 7 hours before Regionals was to begin. I wouldn't say it's altogether original. Well, ok, it's a mixing of Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal. However, I am posting the initial version in order to help explain what I am tinkering with now. Despite only going 5-3 on the day, the losses were more to personal play rather than being overmatched (which only happenned once).
Deck Size: The Jathro Special
Monsters: 20
Cyber Dragon (3)
Zaborg the Thunder Monarch (3)
Mobius the Frost Monarch (3)
Exiled Force (2)
Don Zaloog (2)
Mystic Tomato (2)
Sangan
Spirit Reaper
Treeborn Frog
Magician of Faith
...
I interrupt this deck listing to re-iterate the point. It wasn't that original. I now return to the rest of the listing.
...
Morphing Jar (Ok, at least this isn't a common main deck).
Spells: 19
(I wonder, should I just say "Staples" and everyone would know what I'm saying? Nah.)
Pot of Avarice
Graceful Charity
Mystical Space Typhoon
Heavy Storm
Enemy Controller (3)
Brain Control (3)
Premature Burial
Reinforcement of the Army (2)
Last Will
Swords of Revealing Light
Big Bang Shot
Megamorph
Giant Trunade (2)
(Almost looks like a Stein-OTK set in there. Almost.)
Traps: 6
Royal Decree (2)
Ring of Destruction
Mirror Force
Call of the Haunted
Ceasefire (Yeah I said Ceasefire).
Now, I do know I have 4 semi-surprising choices. 1) Nobleman of Crossout was a Side-Deck card. 2) D.D. Warrior Lady was a No-Deck card. 3) Torrential Tribute was also a No-Deck card. 4) 2 Reinforcement of the Army for 4 Warriors (although let's be honest. If nothing else, this card is simply the Exiled Force searcher these days).
Now the deck ran well, but not well enough. As I said, I really wasn't out-matched, but it did have a little trouble closing. The biggest weakness to it was actually one of its strengths: The Brain Control/Enemy Controller. They are relatively passive, reactive cards. I need to wait for my opponent to have something to use them, and sometimes all they have is one monster and all I have in hand is Zaborg. Not too helpful in those cases. What I saw as a more proactive choice was the ever annoying Creature Swap. So I started tinkering tonight to try and tighten this up as well as be even more annoying to my opponent. Also, I wanted to splash in something a little unexpected that can compliment Swaps, Controllers, and Controls. So allow me to be the first to make some suggestions:
-1 Morphing Jar
Wasn't as useful as I wanted it to be. Not to mention I did hit the "1 Random Goldd" one of the times I flipped it.
-2 Mystic Tomato
While this may seem odd given that they provide easy access for Don, Reaper, and Critter, I wanted a different kind of searcher instead.
So with those gome, in came:
+3 Nimble Momonga
Field presence, Life Point gain, and great to swap and run into. Yay!
However, that wasn't all. This next one hurt a little since not only was it my most consistant card of the day, but it offset myself tending to burn through my hand fairly quickly. However, I'm looking more for controlling the field than the hand to make a very quick duel. So we have:
-2 Don Zaloog
He'll hit the side deck most likely though
So what could take the place of everyone's favorite Dark Scorpion? 10-1 you won't expect this:
+2 Gilasaurus
Or as someone once stated "The Original Cyber Dragon". Early game he's just nasty to basically act as a free summon. Mid-late game, he can be Normal Summoned, or Special Summoned in order to Swap out for whatever my opponent got.
That's about it for the monsters. It may not look like all that much but again, the focus is upon stealing my opponent's monsters and keeping the field all to myself. So now, onto the spells.
-2 Reinforcement of the Army
With only Exiled Force as the only Warriors in the deck, these were not going to be all that useful anymore.
+2 Creature Swap
Well, if I'm adjusting the deck around this card, I guess I should deck it. I mean, that would be like building an Exodia deck without the Exodia pieces in it otherwise. More changes needed though.
-1 Megamorph
I only pulled this card once the whole day, but that one time was actually instrumental in winning a match. However, with Creature Swap, I should run the two-edged sword instead.
+1 Scapegoat
Oh how I saw this card burn people all day long on both sides of the field. Switch to ATK and Swap! YEAH BABY! Or watch my opponent Enemy Controller it into Attack position. Fudge. Or worse, strap a Big Bang Shot on Don Zaloog and had Mutton for dinner. Still, worth the risk
Now this last change, I'm still debating. I like Big Bang Shot you see. 400 bonus is ok. Trample is simply awesome (esp. since it's not expected most of the time. It really is a wonderful feature). Comboable with Giant Trunade (Remove your opponent's Jinzo from play and laugh!) However, since I'm doing most everything in 3s (yeah I know only 2 Gilasaurus, but I'd rather not take out anything else for a 3rd. After all, I still have the 3 Cyber Dragons) maybe I should run a 3rd Creature Swap. What? It's semi-limited? So what? I'll still deck the third one this way:
Big Bang Shot <--> Mystic Box
I just don't know about that one yet. I may try it both ways. So in the end, the revision to the above looks like this now:
Monsters: 20
Cyber Dragon (3)
Zaborg the Thunder Monarch (3)
Mobius the Frost Monarch (3)
Exiled Force (2)
Gilasaurus (2)
Nimble Momonga (3)
Sangan
Spirit Reaper

Magician of Faith
Spells: 19
Pot of Avarice
Graceful Charity
Mystical Space Typhoon
Heavy Storm
Enemy Controller (3)
Brain Control (3)
Creature Swap (2)
Scapegoat
Big Bang Shot / Mystic Box
Premature Burial
Last Will
Swords of Revealing Light
Giant Trunade (2)
Traps: 6
Royal Decree (2) (This btw while passive and not very good for defense, annoyed everyone I played all day long because noone expected to see this main decked).
Ring of Destruction
Mirror Force
Call of the Haunted
Ceasefire
So, now that I've rambled on for many minutes typing this up, your thoughts are more that welcome. Thank you very much.
