Summoned Skull MRD-EN003

The Granddaddy of all Archfiends! With a 2500 ATK, he was (and still is, though tied with others) the highest 1 Tribute Monster in the game. Given that most 1 tribute monsters are rated based on the "Jinzo"-scale (2400 ATK), "Summoned Skull" can take them all down and then some. He's a normal monster. While most people would view that as a negative, normal monsters have received more support in the recent sets.

This is one of my all-time favorite cards. He's relatively easy to get out and provides sheer total beatdown joy. Go "Old School" with this powerhouse and bust through just about anything your opponent could try to throw at you.

Heh, this has always been one of my favorite monsters, even though I never run him anymore in any of my decks except in my crappy Fiend deck. I remember the days of when Metal Raiders came out and everyone still ran pretty much similar decks, 1700-1800 beatdown, 3 trap holes, man-eater bugs and hane-hanes, and Summoned Skull was popular. This was the one card I'd always use my Witch to search for. *Sigh* Call me stupid but when I first saw Skull Archfiend of Lightning, I thought "Wow, looks alot like Summoned Skull"... eventually I realized that it is him, just more razzled up.

I still go crazy when I have a bad hand and field while my opponent has a Summoned Skull equipped with a Axe of Despair

The current Meta is not friendly towards the heavy hitters. Tribute monsters are costly and often easily taken advantage of. Typically you'll see mostly Jinzo hit the field or possibly Air Knight (stop all traps or get some trample and drawing power) or HaDes for the more fiend inclined. From that standpoint you will only see Summoned Skull in "starter decks" in tournaments (mostly younger players who don't have a large pool of cards to draw from).

In a normalcy deck (Non-Spellcasting Area and Heart of the Underdog) he is still one of the very best.

I still keep one in my Fiend based decks...then agian, I do keep some backup power for him, but you can't complain with a single tribute monster that hits that hard. 8^D

He's perfect for begginers, but you soon grow bored of him.
yea, because then you discover the End of Anubis.... :D
Hey, I reckon The End of Anubis should be an archfiend type...
I wish that were true but sadly End of Anubis isn't an archfiend although it certainly is one the elite fiends. He's doesn't wear any archfiend-ic armor. The guy most definitely has skin tissue over his muscles and he's not wearing anything looks like bone armor. The jap name is sadly the same except they add 'The' at the beginning of grammatical reasons. So you couldn't even add him to the list for that reason.

Back to Skull. Yeah, even now he's one of the best one tribute heavy hitters. Depending in which format your playing use the normal one or his retrained version.

Artwork is excellent in both cases.
