The changes

I’m new to this forum and have just started posting. I’m open to any criticism or advice and hope to see some feed back for this thread.

Well, the powers that be have swung their mighty hammer once again. A mid-format change has been issued by Upperdeck banning Dimension Fusion, restricting Return from The Different Dimension, and semi restricting Allure of Darkness. This is the 2nd time a change like this has occurred, 2nd only to the Cyber Stein restriction back in '04. Just this past weekend, the SJC for Nashville Tennessee took place and once again, DAD has dominated the Metagame with the exception of rogue decks like Monarchs, Zombie, and Six Samurai.

The reason why I believe, an action like this one was taken is because of the DAD duelists. Nearly everyone that made the Top 16 had Dark Armed Dragon deck with Light and Darkness Dragon mixed in. The banned and restricted format was created by Upperdeck in order to increase competitive and original play. There is hardly any originality when you have the Top 16 running the same deck with the same strategy. There were at least 3 duelists there that were running Jerry Wang’s version of DAD return. Three!

If we want to see some change in the format, then a large number of duelists are going to have to dig into their stacks of cards, and rack their brains out in making their decks rather then copy one of the top 16 and changing one or two cards. For anything, I can be contacted through the message boards or via email at richard_garcia201508@yahoo.com or at rg201508@student.visd.net. Thanks.

I was a little surprised to hear that DAD was still dominant, but I think it is just the FTK/OTK options that have been squelched.

I've heard rumors that once LODT hits the shelves (now that we've had the preview), that things will change again, any thoughts?

Yes, I also heard that new light decks will be rising out of the new packs, though not in the same way dark decks did. A lot of the material will be fresh start. We might start seeing a revival of new deck types other then batterymen. Like Sky Scourges.

I've had a quick glance at the LODT cards, and I can honestly say that the two new Deck types introduced (Lightsworn and Arcana Force) suck. Majorly. It's either chance or lose most of your Deck really quickly, which I'm sure isn't something people want to do.

Admittedly, Light Spiral exists, and it's pretty much the only card that makes the Lightsworn monsters playable, but even then not very. Arcana Force is still just about chance, not to mention it's a main Deck theme straight from the series (therefore it's rubbish - take a look at the support they're STILL throwing in for Neo-Spacians, to no effect).

I much prefer the look of those Batteryman monsters. Just a few cards, but they're all really good. And then there's Frogs and Wetlands-related cards. Oh, and The Lady in Wight utterly rocks.

On an unrelated note, I like the trend towards a) more complicated names that aren't obviously geared towards the kiddies (Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, woot), and b) using words like Angel and Wight and all those other "controversial" ones (or ones that just weren't used before for no real reason).

Who named "DUCKER Mobile Cannon", by the way? I was totally expecting that to be a Frog support card until I read the effect (no Level 4 Frogs around).

There's a OTK, certainly. But I don't like OTKs. It's like they're not playing the game properly or something. It's to be enjoyed, not rushed through like that.

Advert? You mean my banner (the big red thing)? I made it myself, mostly in Paint (and a little in Paint.NET, a free and very good drawing software thingy). The basis was a picture I found in Google. It was easy enough to make, and looks surprisingly good, I think.

Or did you mean avatar, the animated Zorc picture to the left? It's somewhere in the collection of avatar pictures in City of Gamers, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged collection. That series rocks.
