The Sanctuary in the Sky AST-042

The Sanctuary in the Sky
Field Spell

Battle Damage to the controller of a Fairy-Type monster from a battle involving that Fairy-Type monster becomes 0.

A slightly underrated Field Spell. It's great in Fairy decks to protect you from taking damage, but where it really shines is with 3 monsters that can really take advantage of the card: "Archlord Zerato" (you can get a "Raigeki" affect), "The Agent of Force - Mars" (a 3 Star with huge beatstick potential), and "The Agent of Judgment - Saturn" (whose effect can inflict massive damage, ending the duel early). Moreso than most Field Spells, this one needs a deck to be built around it to take advantage of the card. However, given how under-utilized this particular theme is, you can often stand a good chance at defeating many other decks just because of its uniqueness.

Great Card, difficult build...
I really wanna see one of these beat me, just so I can tell people about it :)

My gf won two tournaments with her Angel deck, next time you're in England look her up!

Yeah its quite a good field spell. The effect is excellent. Unless they use Surgery on you, you'll never recieve damage while its on the field when you're monsters get defeated in battle. And those fairy monsters who can activiate effects when its on the field go along with it very well.

"Sanctuary in the sky", is the best field card for a fairy deck, the other ones could be "Luminous Spark", and "Gaia Power" for a Fairy-Earth deck with Mudora.
The greatest advantage is that you don't get any damage to your life points with fairy monsters. But the most important is what for this card was created, you need to always have your life points far above the ground, other way, your agents will never do to much damage. Fairies have the potential to rise up your life points, to mention some of them, Guardian Angel Joan, Absorbing Kid from the Sky, Cestus of Dagla equipment, Hysteric Fairy, etc"¦ there for this field is so thematic about the "Agents" that make a point of sense on rising up your life points.
I don't know if there's going to be any other cards related to this field in the future "“that one will be great for me, because I have a Fairy Deck- but knowing the effects that matter, are actually the ones on the Agents cards, and this get us to other important topic, the risks using this kind of Deck. First you have to take care to protect the Sanctuary and second to protect your life points. First at all if the sanctuary is not in play, your strategy is not going to work, and if your life points are lowers than your opponent, two important agents won't get their effects done, "The Agent of Judgment Saturn" will only be a 2400 ATK monster, with 0 DEF, this card could get you to this situation. You summoned Saturn, The Sanctuary is in the field and you tribute Saturn to get it effects done, but your opponent chains to destroyed The Sanctuary, and you have no other monsters in your side of the field, sad, you don't get the effect done, and no monsters left. Let's make it worst, after that your opponent lowers your life points, and you only have another "sanctuary" in your hand, and "The Agent of Force "“ Mars" then Mars is only a 0/0 Monster, who by the way is not affected by the sanctuary effect.
To my point of view, "Archlord Zerato" needs to have a deck done for it self, this is because, this card has to many requirements to be played.
1.- Get Warrior of Zera in your hand, so you will be needing two or tree
2.- You may want to get them fast in your hand so you can use two RotArmy
4.- Have the Sanctuary on the field.
5.- Sa***uard at least two light monsters on your hand. (I recommend to use Thunder Dragons)
6.- Get to pound of lucky to draw Archlord Zerato.
7.- Pray a lot so your opponent don't destroy the field.
8.- And the most important thing BE SURE you haven't lost the game after you put this magnificent combo out. (considering all of this is not to win the duel, is just, to get the amazing Raigeki effect done, consider that he/she must have at least one monster)
You know I love Fairys, but I'm realistic, Konami only love Chaos (dragons, warriors, and spellcasters) monsters, and will never, ever, make a descent monster on other theme deck.

nice card effect, helps the purpose of most fairy decks in maintaining LP advantage. my friend has been trying to make a FTK Saturn deck and so far its worked well. i tried to make a fairy deck, but it is more difficult to build than most decks, especially to make them good.

sanctuary in the sky

i play a light deck, and this card is awesome. it helps to protect my lifepoints.

however, if you are not playing a light or fairy deck, this card really isnt much use to you.

if this card is on the field and a 1800atk monster attacks my 1700atk fairy what happens?

a) do i loose the monster but take no life point damage
b) do i not loose the monster and my opponent takes 1700 dmg
c) do i just not loose the monster

I am uncertain as to what battle damage becomes 0 means. Thanks for any help.

It's a nice field card. Of course, you could have to run in it Agent and Archlord deck. I never ran an angel deck before, I always run demon deck such as fiend, and archfiend deck. I just simply love darkness more than light:D. Beside darkness creature is almost everywhere and they had a good effect.

Take Don zaloog. Nice dark warrior.
Take Dark Magician of chaos, Nice dark spellcaster
Take Jinzo, Nice dark machine.

Field card always needed a protection such as magic reflector, one of old school cards. Beside it's good as long as you have fairy's type monsters on your side of field.

Fairies!!!!

i built a fairy deck just out of boredom and it actually turned out really well i use sanctuary in the sky in combonation with the agent of judgement saturn to devastate my apponent. and i must say i approve of this card! :)
