The Six Samurai - Zanji

If you have a Six Samurai Monster and The "Six Samurai - Zanji," and Zanji attacks a stronger ATK position monster, does it matter which monster gets destroyed? Zanji's effect will resolve either way?

Here's the summary.
• "The Six Samurai - Zanji" does not need to remain on the field after battle for its effect to activate. Even if it is destroyed by battle, as long as you control another "Six Samurai" monster, the monster it attacked will be destroyed.
(That's a ruling for Zanji.)

Zanji destroys the monster "at the end of the Damage Step". This occurs much later than the generic Six Samurai effect that goes "kill him instead". Zanji does NOT need to be on the field "at the end of the Damage Step" in order for his effect to work (see ruling). However, there MUST be a different Six Samurai monster on the field "at the end of the Damage Step" for Zanji's effect to activate.

If you let Zanji be destroyed, the opposing monster will be destroyed by Zanji's effect. If you make the other Siz Samurai be destroyed, by "the end of the Damage Step" there is no "another Six Samurai monster" on your side of the field, so Zanji's effect will not activate, and the opposing monster will not be destroyed.
