I always, and forever more will be running theme decks of the fiendish tendency. Anything from general fiends all the way down to a Giant Kozaky deck, the new releases of cards always have something fresh to add to the tactics. 8^D

ever since i made my water deck like a year ago i have had it and still have it and plan on keeping it becuz its fun and thats what ur suppose to have in this "game"

Spellcasters FTW!

Like I was telling my friend: Too bad the Anime and Manga don't pay attention to Spellcasters anymore. Otherwise we'd be getting so many more cool Spellcasters...

Yes, but on the other hand, I like the Dinosaur support we've been getting recently.

I also like Water Decks, and recently I've been thinking about Rallis the Star Bird in a Wind booster Deck.

I only run themes. If it dont have a theme then how can it be fun to play it.

I focus mainly on burn decks. It used to be all fire burn decks but its more s/t now but it might become more fire orientated again soon.....

I've had a Gravekeeper deck for years now. But recently I made a Manticore beast beatdown deck as it seemed more tourney worthy. Now I got 2 decks, they both pawnz (not really).

Skill Drain oh Skill Drain where art thou Skill Drain....

Evidently I run a Skill Drain themed deck... I like to change it up from time to time and bring my spellcasters deck out to pound on unexpecting duelists. Since I am well known for the Skill Drain pounding I put out, people around my area side deck just to counter me... so busting out my Spellcasters deck every now and then throws them off guard and gets me some surprise wins... lol..

I also have a deck that is a straight warrior deck with Jinzo Mobius and Dark Ruler Ha Des as the featured tribbies... it seems to decimate pretty well, but I also can side it out to morph the deck into a hybrid of Dark Worlders .... seems to be a good side out that catches peeps off guard...

and there u have it.. basically, be on your toes and prepared for anything when you duel me.. but Skill Drain is my fav to duel with, and the Spellcasters are my babies....

*glances @ Shadowbenny and sighs for forgetting the listing of a Skill Drain deck, especially since that is one of his favourite decks after all....*

Personally, I just like to build odd types of decks, once I have the cards to build it up.... Uria deck ftw! :D

I sense a contradiction...

Please don't describe your Deck as "straight Warriors" if you have non-Warrior-Type monsters in it. Say it's "predominantly Warriors" or "mostly Warriors". Or even "Warriors plus Jin/Mob/Hades". There is no way, though, that it can be described as "straight".

See I am a bit confused by what people are referring to as themes, when placed side by side with the poll above.

Are we talking about themes or attributes and subtypes?

This is a cool thread, but it kind of inspires me to make a spin-off thread so I dont jack this one entirely.

A theme is any distinctive feature of a Deck. It could be one in which:

- All the monsters are WATER or Dinosaur (one specific Type/Attribute).
- All your monsters have a high DEF/ATK and focus on defending/attacking.
- Monster of your monsters belong to a specific group (Gravekeepers, Harpie Lady, Six Samurai, Spirit, Toon, etc.)
- Most of your monsters are Normal Monsters (Skill Drain, Normal support Decks).
- Most of your monsters gain Trample (built-in/Enraged Battle Ox/Meteorain/etc.).
- Most of the cards get rid of your opponent's hand/field presence/Deck.
- You try to Summon as many monsters as quickly as possible.
- Your monsters do their best to attack directly.
- You don't allow your opponent to attack/activate cards/do anything at all.
- You lock up the field and wait for your Final Countdown to win you the Duel.
- You draw your Deck as quickly as possible (for Exodia, commonly).
- You aim to use your Fusion Monsters/Ritual Monsters.
- You inflict as much Effect Damage as possible.
- and so forth...

I must have missed out loads of Deck types, but those are all examples of Deck themes. One overriding goal that the Deck has, and is built towards achieving.

Yes, even CC is a theme. Individual powerful cards that usually have a ratio attached to them. No combos at all, which wherein could lie its biggest flaw...

I understand what you mean, but I think that such specific type listings is overwhelmingly confusing. If you are trying to prevent your opponent from doing things (attacking, defending, activating s/t, ect) or if you are playing a Skill Drain deck full of Normal Monsters, you are still playing a Control Theme.

If you are using Trample monsters or trying to use a lot of special summoning effects, then you are likely using a Beatdown Theme.

I just see it as that kind of list is trying to complicate what a Theme truly is.

There's categories and there's categories. Class things however you want.

Skill Drain and Spatial Collapse might both be Control, but they're still quite different strategies. I lump strategies together into more specific groups, rather than generalise. I do this to the extent that I consider defending with monsters and defending with Spells/Traps to be different Deck types (because of the nature of the cards).

Actually Skill Drain does not run a bunch of normal monsters, it actually utilized BIG MONSTERS with great special summoning effect (etc etc)... but I would not necessarily call it control as I would a good old fashioned beat down with a twist....

off-topic: I wish I had some Skill Drain's as I have a bunch of Giant Kozaky cards that would love to play in the same deck as SD.

on-topic: Is there a good summary of what all these deck themes mean, such as Control and Stall? I have two Earth decks that I have yet to post... one is a full Rock deck modified from the invincible fortress structure deck and the other is a Broken Master Monk deck that I like to play for fun. Both seem to be Stall decks since I only tend to win when I can get the game past 10 turns. If it's less than 10 then I usually am the loser, especially with the Broken Master Monk deck. But, I'd like to see a summary of deck types to see what type I really have. Per Maruno's posts in this thread I can see that the summary would be somewhat subjective but that would at least be a good start for me.
