Oh, Im sure that the topic has been done loosely in the past. I think what tends to happen is that when themes are based upon individual card effects and such, that the list summary grows exponentially with each new set release. And that's why I think its overwhelming. Its like keeping up with the names of individual mammals before first classifying them as mammals in the first place.

Kingpinopie:
Sorry. I was trying to illustrate a point. Most Skill Drain decks are according to what you stated. But that doesn't mean you can't create a Skill Drain deck with Normal Monsters. And if you do, would that create a different theme? ;)

btw: SoilentG, you should talk to Dillie-O, if you are into the idea of Giant Kozaky. Its a deck with which he has a bit of interest and experience.

Maruno said: "class things however you want", and that is exactly what has been done since the beginning. And that is why I dont think people are talking about the same thing when they discuss strategies and/or themes. There is no consistency in how we define these things, simply becuase its not a rulings issue. We are left to debate it amongst ourselves.

I have no bones with the idea that Skill Drain and Spatial Collapse use completely different strategies. But I was talking about themes. It seems like the vocabulary has been interchanged somehow, and we are no longer talking about the same thing.

Think about the Dewey Decimal system in libraries. The 500 numbers contain natural sciences. 520s are environments, 530s are plants, 550s are geology, 590s are animals. But they are all still part of the 500s.

Similarly, Control could be viewed as the 500s. Skill Drain might be 513.9 DCR and Spatial Collapse might be 578.021 AST. But they still part of the 500s.

Ok, can you tell I used to work in a library and am a bit compulsive about organization? You should see how I organize my binders. o_0. :D

You should see the cards that are comin in the set after Force of the Breaker; the reptiles are gonna rise!!! I'll combine them with my Alien Deck and it's gonna be sweet!
