I love his reasoning. He does on a big stage, too. Extra points for courage.

And huge kudos to Austin. I read the duel article and he just really knows how to duel.

So is this your brush with greatness, DMU? :king_jedi

Lol, I suppose you could say that....I'm also sort of an "unofficial member" of Team Fusion; I play with all those guys regularly, I just don't have the time to go to a lot of the Regional events they do.

But the next year should be interesting for the game. I would like to see Austin do well at Worlds (win, maybe?!), but I kind of want the Return decks to get beat by something else so we'll see some kind of change in the meta.

It's too bad I'll be quitting soon (or at least setting it aside) b/c I'll be moving and going to grad school this fall (exciting!) so no more time for the cards.

I would try to just set aside at first. That way you don't decide to come back after you sold your collection.... But take care of Real Life first. Make sure to stop by the Lair once in a while, also. I know I am not making online as much as I used to.

I run a Necrofear Return and I am hoping for the meta to move on also. I liked it better when Return strategies were underused.

I won't be putting the game aside for at least a couple months (late August). I'll be moving to the East Coast then, and time for playing will just be extremely limited. That's all. I'll definately still be checking in online when I can.

I think each person views "playing the game" differently from everyone else. I know most people who say they "quit", do so periodically, but consistently come back to the game every few moths. I, on the other hand, don't get to play for months at a time sometimes, and still considered myself as "playing the game" all through the down time. Everyone seems to have different perspectives on it. I personally don't feel a person ever truly "quits" playing Yu-Gi-Oh! It's kinda like saying, "we'll I know how to play checkers, but I quit the game years ago". Does anyone ever "quit" playing checkers? :haveaday_

I used to be really into checkers, but I got tired of everyone running the same CC pieces. I ended up selling my checkers collection on ebay. Maybe when checkers gets a little more variety, I might take it up again.

ROFL! Okay fine. In that case I quit playing Dominoes at the age of thirteen. Even though I still have a Double Twenty-Four sitting around here somewhere.

My favourite piece is the Fool. It can move three spaces in any direction, but can't take another piece. Great for stalling.

People are afraid that everyone could copy this deck and then the metagame will be boring again. I have no idea why everyone has to 'hate' every newer deck.

Sure, it's an OTK, but at least it's imaginative. It's better if a couple of guys are running this deck and not all the same with CCC. o_O

I'm so glad this guy pulled it off! The Featured Matches were great to read. ^^

soul

I have to agree that I really enjoyed seeing someone do well taking a risk on a surprise deck. It seemed to be the flavor of the week locally here as I saw 3 people running it this week. Those people here though obviously weren't as in tune with it's intricacies as they were about 50/50 with it.

I'd rather see this though than people playing the same deck week after week. The threat to the game in general I see with this deck isn't that it's an OTK deck....the threat I see is that it's boring as heck to play agaist, you wait forever to even get a turn. I see opposing players with their chin on their hand almost ready to fall asleep waiting. That's not a good way to promote a game and make it attractive to play.

I can tell you that having played a similar style deck, your opponent is definitely wondering what the heck is going on most of the time, especially since it seems like you are never going to attack.

It is boring, and most people just get tired of playing against it and make mistakes since they figure they have all day to plan their own Deck's strategy. And I think that is where more than likely, a few players may have gotten tripped up. Not so much that they lost because of the Deck's Structure, but they fell into a false sense of security, having never seen anything like it.

That may be true, but it sure is fun as heck to be the making you wait. Honestly though, how is making your opponent wait any less desirable the always making your opponent loose? What's the difference enjoyment-wise? Maybe the game wouldn't be so borring for them, if they'd played with a more varied deck type every once in while.

I have tried playing this deck a few times at the local club night (not tourney). People find it fascinating to watch, but learning its intricacies is not an easy thing! Even knowing how the deck should be played, it is still easy to get yourself 'closed up' with no further way of drawing. Personally, I am having problems playing it consistently.

That said, mechanics wise, some of us in Ames have considered changing the mechanics around a bit and putting in mythical beast cerberus, or even spell absorption.

I played it. Did well. Also played two versions of the Reversal Quiz deck. Finally, I put the two together and came up with a winner. Now I use a Reverse Quiz (which nets me actual play against an opponent) and Side Deck componants for this, just in case. It works really well--so far. One day i hope to come up with a creative deck myself, rather than just improving/modifying everyone elses 8-{~

DMU, I'm finishing up my Masters (one class to go) and it is tough to keep the game going, but when I can, I find it cathartic. Last night, instead of doing my Greek, I sorted cards (no brainer stuff) and theorized about possible card combos (working creative half of brain) and it gave my overloaded imput circuits enough rest that after an hour or so, I was ready to hit the books again--all refreshed! I admit, the temptation to go out into the living room and game with the kids gets a little overwhelming at times, but I think you'll do fine just setting them on the shelf, not too nearby, at first, but close.

our store has a regular "net-decker" that constantly creates his deck based on what the latest winning combo is. After looking through the mechanics I found a few flaws that could be lethal that would not require a lot of changing around to specifically suit it...

1. This combo is practically DEPENDENT on Giant Trunade (after seeing it played). Stop that card and it slows the deck down TREMENDOUSLY. two ways to do this are a) Prohibition, and b) Cursed Seal of the forbidden spell.

2. Anyone running removal will easily get around the 30 card doom mark. Simply summoning a banisher of the light/banisher of the radiance (as the deck has no real s/t destruction or monster destruction) will keep the graveyard empty.

3. Creative deckbuilders could even use Sealmaster Meisei with Talisman of Spell Sealing.

4. Stop the draw with Protector of the Sanctuary. They keep paying life points if they want but does not give them the continuous draw they need.

5. going back to removal... combo Confiscation with D.D. Designator to get two cards out. at least one grave and one removed.... or two removed if you have a banisher available. Plus the payment of 1000 LP will make them work harder to make the 8K difference required for Life Equalizer.

you can always just run Macrocosmos, of course if they have that giant trunade they will bounce stuff back, but hey its possible for all its worth.

prohibition would be the best bet to anti-this deck. Eventually people will runn 1 or 2 cards to anti- this deck, the problem is that if the deck is going first. and hits their combo itll be over, no point in continuing just sweep and go to round 2. on round two side deck the material. but again in round 3 you better find a way around this, so maybe the Discard Angels. Purple and Green.

This deck is just screaming for a conversion to a Cyber-Stein OTK from the Side Deck. Now that would be fun to swap into :D
