Those wacky Magical Hats

Magical Hats. You know 'em. Yugi loves 'em. But a discussion over in the Card of the Day and Tips section got me to wondering about something that wasn't in the rulings for any of these cards when used with Magical Hats. Statue of the Wicked, Dark Coffin, and Compulsory Evacuation Device. Blast with Chain as well.

Now, according to logics and card texts and everything, these combos /should/ work, but I want to make sure, before I design a Magical Hats theme deck. You're probably tired of hearing me by now, but are all of these moves legal?

(1) I activate Magical Hats in response to an attack, pull any two non-monsters from my deck, do the shuffle thing, set them down with my creature, then when the attack is replayed, I activate Compulsory Evacuation Device(s) and bounce one(or more) of the set cards back to my hand. All three of my card targets are legal, one the actual monster, and the other two currently 0/0 monsters during my attack phase, yes? Basically, in effect, I could pull Pot of Greed from my deck as one of the non-monsters, slap it down as the temporary 'monster', along with another, then activate the Device and bounce it to my hand.

(2) I activate Magical Hats in response to an attack, and I pull out Statue of the Wicked or Dark Coffin as one/both of the cards, do the shuffle thing, set them down with my creature, then...
(a)The creature is attacked by the opponent's only monster, whatever happens, happens, and battle phase ends. My set cards are destroyed by Magical Hats' effect and go to the graveyard. Since they were face down on the field when they were destroyed, the effects of them will activate, right?
(b)Assuming (a) to be true, if Statue of the Wicked or Dark Coffin were attacked by a normal monster, they would flip face up before being destroyed, and thus the effect would not activate?
(c)Assuming (a) to be true, if Statue of the Wicked or Dark Coffin were attacked by a monster with a Sasuke Samurai/Mystic Swordsman LV2 effect, they would be automatically destroyed by the monster effect, and in this case their effect WOULD activate?
(extra)Assuming (a) and (c) to be true, if Blast with Chain were face down in those situations, would its second effect of destroying a card on the field activate, since it was destroyed by a card effect, or does that only activate when it's face up?

I think that covers everything I had in my offhand, are there any other non-monster cards with effects that activate like Dark Coffin and Statue of the Wicked, or when the card is "destroyed", or even just sent from the field to the graveyard? (except Black Pendant)

1)The targets of Compulsory Evacuation Device must be legal.

Think about Creature Swap, against The Legendary Fisherman vs Archfiend Soldier. Archfiend Soldier can be a legal selection through the effect of Creature Swap, but the opponent controls The Legendary Fisherman that is unaffected by Spell cards. Creature Swap must have 2 appropriate targets before it can be activated.

2a) True, if the set cards were not destroyed, assuming that your opponent attacked the monster meant to be destroyed and at the end of the Battle Phase they will be destroyed and there effects will trigger.

2b) Right, they were flipped face-up due to an attack, and were destroyed in battle face-up, so there effects will not trigger.

2c) Correct, there effects will trigger being since you've met the conditions for the effects to take place.

2extra) No, Blast with Chain must be an Equip Spell card at the point of destruction for it's effect to trigger.

I hope I've helped.

A face-down Spell/Trap card brought to the field by Magical Hats is a legal target for Compulsory Evacuation Device. The only requirement for that card is that it target a monster, which Magical Hats makes those cards for the duration of its effect.

the Combos with magical hats may require lots of cards, but they have lot's of benefits.

Try Penguin Soldier, Magical Hats and Shift :D! You may end up adding Pot of Greed and Painful choice for the price of three cards (penguin, shift and magical hats)

Thank you very much! I thought all of the situations would be legal... this will be a fun "annoyance" deck to try pulling off, at least the way I have it planned. I think I'll post it in the deck design section later today, and I'll even try it out once I get a few of the cards I'll need for it that I've never bothered picking up multiples of yet.

Creative thinking CraniumX! I had not thought of using "Magical Hats" that way before. You also might want to consider that same combo with "Hade Hane"
