Um, weren't all the ankhs removed as well?[/i]
Um, yes. You'll notice the quotation marks. It was supposed to be Konami talking and noticing the Anhks only after deciding to remove the religious symbols. It was intended to be humorous.
If you wanted to view the sets separately, you could do that..... the website does say, right at the beginning:

NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE ON DIALUP AND ARE HERE ONLY TO SEE SPECIFIC CARDS, HIT THE STOP BUTTON WHEN YOU CAN READ THIS. SCROLL TO THE CARD THAT YOU WANT TO SEE AND RIGHT-CLICK THE RED "X", THEN SELECT "SHOW IMAGE". THIS WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR ALL 300 IMAGES TO LOAD.
You misunderstand me, I wasn't there to see a specific card. I was there to see ALL the cards. And the computer stopped loading the images all on its own. You see, either way, I would have to right click on each and every single image and then hit "Show Picture." I had to do that for right around 250 images. And it doens't always work the first time. I had to do some pics five to ten times in a row. Thats somwhere near 4000 clicks.

I wouldn't have had this problem if he had put each set on a seperate page. He presumes that every person with dial-up interested in visiting his site is interested in only one card in paticular. Obviously, he put a lot of work into this, but didn't think things through.

Anytime you build a web page you never EVER put 300 images on one page. Unless a person is determined like me, then that person will either move on to something else or his computer will freeze/crash and he wont come back. If you want visitors to your site you must always try to make the site as user friendly as possible. Even a site optimized for high speed wouldn't have so many pics on it that I have to manually load it. I can load a thirty minute flash cartoon faster then I could load his page.

Wouldn't you have had to click on the images to see them anyway, regardless of how many pages he put it all on? Also, have you tried refreshing the entire page? If I remember correctly, the already loaded pictures would stay there, and the other ones would attempt to load again, rsulting in a little less clicking, I would assume. (Actually, was it refreshing, or going back and then forwards again with the browser buttons?) Sorry if I'm wrong, I'm lucky enough not to have had dialup for awhile.

No. The only reason the images didn't load was because there were too many on one page. Dial up doesn't mean you have to click on images to see them. Otherwise I'd have to click on each and every single avatar and sig image here on the forums.

A far as refreshing goes, its based on the amount of room I've set aside in my temporary files. I don't have room for that many pictures at one time so only around fifty loaded. Refreshing would have just loaded the same fifty and at dial-up speed.

Lovely site...very interesting indeed.

However, what I find even MORE interesting is this:

Example: The Unhappy Girl, as you could see was changed (most likely the ENGLISH version of TUG had breast cancer or something...)

Yet, I direct you to the English version of The Unhappy Maiden. Both look EXTREMELY similar...yet one has not been surgically violated.

Not to mention, there is of course: OH NO! BREASTS! Quick get rid of them.

What about Maiden of the Aqua? What about the Harpies and Amazons? I mean hell, look at Harpie Girl, the outfit does seem like it'd leave her a little chilly.

Of course, such changes don't kill us, but at the same time, they are completely unnecessary and I strongly hope whoever had to do the changes felt really bad afterwards and shaved their head as a penance (or...if already bold, bought a wig then burnt it).

Actually, if any change po'ed me off the most, it'd be the religious ones. It seems the same soccermums who tell us to be tolerant of other cultures and religions seem to COMPLETELY bash the hell out of Christianity....WHY?! Angels lose their halos (great...thanks censors, now they're fallen angels, congrats) thanks to such outcry over just another religion. I'll admit I have some bias being a Christian myself, however, I don't actually go around preaching to everyone...you COULD say I'm a lazy follower (as such)...but I just see it as, I have no right to tell people what to do or what is right.

You know, with the soon to be released Tins, it may be interesting to know that the "flavour" text on Vorse Raider has actually been changed. The one posted in this board reads:

"This wicked Beast-Warrior does every horrid thing
imaginable and loves it! His axe bears the marks of his
countless victims"

As far as I can tell (however...my information is solely based on a GBA yugioh game called Eternal Duelist...which APPEARS to have many of the ORIGINAL Japanese pictures and texts, with the exception of some glaringly obvious ones, e.g. Monster Rebord) THIS is what the text of Vorse Raider was originally:

"The axe in the hand of this evil animal has tasted the blood of many monsters."

Again I note, this is not an official source, but in all fairness, would it be so surprising to find this to be the original text on the card?

Bah...what a waste of time changing all the cards.

In addition to your post, Ultiheart, I must say how inconsistent UDE/Konami was with these edits. Like you said, they edited the Harpies, but not Harpie Girl. They edited everything else with huge boobs, but not Maiden of the Aqua. And Amazoness Swords Woman, Amazoness Chain Master, Amazoness Fighter, Amazoness Paladin, and Amazoness Archers all are rather busty and cleavegey, but weren't edited. (Not that I'm complaining) Inconsistency again...

Then we have Red Archery Girl, who was edited, but look at Toon Mermaid, who was not edited. *shakes head* Inconsistency.

Actually Harpie Girl WAS edited. The original version had no black outfit which is the reason she seems to "cover" herself. Just like the MRD Harpie Lady which originally was like the purple strap "swimsuit" changed to add a purple "t-shirt" under it.

Still seams inconsistant. If the skimpy outfit was bad to begin with, why edit it in. Why not edit in the full coverage. *sigh*

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Harpie Girl... The Japanese and English ones look exactly the same to me. And if she was edited, it would have been on this guy's site...

I've found another inconsistancy (good inconsistancy in this case -- art escaped the wrath of the evil censors):

I was rummaging around in the second drawer from the top in my nightstand -- the drawer I keep all my crap cards in -- looking for cards that weren't good when they were released but are now, and came across a copy of The Unhappy Maiden from it's original set. Notice that copy has mammary glands (albiet a little slight, but what do you expect on a figure that has obviously not eaten for about 2 days?) -- hard to see in the blurred scan, but it is muuch clearer on the actual card (which I found). Sorry to go all politically correct/clinical on you guys, but I'm used to boards moderating for the other word plus I'm on a public computer so there are more stringient rules than if I was at home -- I don't want to take any chances.

Edit: Sorry guys, I remembered the wrong card name (I think). This only makes it more interesting as the 2 cards have almost exactly the same picture -- one was edited and one was not (I think, someone correct me if i'm wrong. I can't view the linked page to check, as that would cause me to violate the Library's AUP)

This version does appear to be clothed......somewhat.

this is very interesting information. I think I like some of the American artwork better than the Japanese and vice versa. And I have noticed since I started playing that anything religious has changed. (Like the Ankh in the original Monster Reborn, or the hexagram that has been replaced by Spellbinding Circle in about 20 or so cards). The change in Misery of Guillotine (jap name) is such a Tragedy (I had to make that pun, even if its not funny), because that would have been so much cooler.

What I don't understand is why the halos are a problem. Cleavage either, but parents of young children can be nitpicky about certain 'influences' in their lives. The halos make no sense though. You can have a pussy fairy, but letting an Angel (Guardian Angel Joan) have her halo is to much to ask.

I wonder what cards will be changed in ELE? or are there more to be changed in CRV?

Little bit of a fun site for those who watch the anime every so often:

Yu-Gi-Oh Uncensored

Basically, a site that shows some of the changes between the Japanese versions of the show.

And another little thing...again, for the anime fans. If anyone has the episode (Duelist Kingdom) in which Bakura is dueling Yugi for the first time (i.e. the evil version) when Yugi uses the Monster Reborn card for the first time in THAT duel...try freezeframing it, slowing it down, whatever. You'll notice as the card "activates" oops! The Ankh appears.

Tisk....sloppy.

Thats a common portrayal of Sprite or Fairy-like characters down through history. Female in appearance, yet still genderless. It's more of an artists perogitive then anything else. Sometimes they prefer the line work to be more flowing and smooth by leaving out certain "details". Others just intimatig that the sprite-like characters are not truley human, they only resemble them.

I'm glad that other people have noticed this site, too.

A little FYI about the site: The site is run by a Mod on a YGO message board (which I'm a long-time member of). Only someone like her would note something like this. She can be strange like that, but that's what makes her interesting.

It's about time you guys spotted this site. It's been up for at least a year, now. If I had known you were so interested in it, I could've providided the link, myself.

Hey, chaos general, I'm curious: how did you come across that site? I've known about it for months and you guys have only discovered it within the past few weeks.

All be darn. Remember the complaint I had about this guys stuff being al lon one page and therefore a horror for dial-up users to load? Well lo and behold, he went and divided it up by set. Still a little bit of a load time for me, but not the hours it took on the old site. Thats a hugh improvement to what was already a great idea for a website.

Yes, he changed it several months ago.

Maybe he should replace Kevin Tewart? (I mean, he has a sense of humor, a logical mind, and he listens to requests. What a concept!)

Wait, "All be darn"??? Do you mean "I'll be darned"?? :p :D ;) XD

<EDIT: Alright, maybe SHE should replace Tewart... >
