Toon Defense with Face-Down Toon

Hello

I have built a new (fun) Toon Deck and have a question about Toon Defense.

Assume I have a 4-star Toon Monster face-down with Toon Defense active on my side of the field. My opponent attacks my face-down Toon and it is flipped face-up as a result of battle. Can I then elect to apply Toon Defense's effect and hence save my Toon from destruction?

Thanks

Wouldn't it be too late once you're in the damage step? Replays cannot occur in DC. So no. Sorry.

Who said anything about a replay?

I would have to say that since the monster is face-down, it is not known whether or not it is a Toon, so you can't activate "Toon Defense"s effect in response to the attack. Also, since "Toon Defense" does not modify the ATK or DEF of your Toon, you can't activate it during the Damage Step. Once the monster has been flipped by the attack, you have already entered the Damage Step and it would be too late to activate the effect of "Toon Defense".

Hope this helps.

I did.

When the attack target changed, it triggers a replay, or so I've been told. I don't see how one could change the target and not cause a replay, and I don't see how a replay can occur in the damage step.

PS Why is it that you and I NEVER agree?

Except when you make an attack a direct attack to your Life Points, your "redirecting" the attack. A new attack target is not emerging, per se. But a new target is being chosen by the effect. The attack progreasses as normal. If a replay was triggered everytime an effect like this was activated it would make the point of these type of effects meaningless.

Toon Defense

I think I may have been misunderstood in my initial post...

My Continuous Toon Defense is already active on the field. When the opponent attacks my face-down toon and it is flipped as a result of battle, can I then say that I will use the effect of Toon Defense (since it applies to face-up toons only) and take the damage directly (ie not lose my monster but take direct damage instead).

Or as you are saying, can I not chose to take this option during the damage step?

Understand? Thanks.

You cannot. Skey was right, and did understand your post. Whether you just activated it OR it was already active, it just doens't come in the damage step. Too late, I'm afraid.
