Torrential Tribute V.S. Scientist

Here is the situation. I have 6k or so Lp to his 8k.

I have 2 negate attacks, a gravtiy bind, something else and a Torrential Tribute, I am full on my M/T zone.

He summons scientist, I flip Torrential Tribute to this.

He says "Can't Pirority."

He summoned Ryu Senshi and paid 1000 lp.

We argued he swore and disconnected the duel.

Can he summon Ryu then Ryu chain to my Torrential that was used on Scientist not Ryu Senshi.

Your opponent did have priority to use the Scientist's effect.

So here's your chain:

Chain 1: pay 1000 for Scientist
Chain 2: Torrential (the fusion monster is not out yet since Scientist has not resolved)

Resolve Chain 2: Scientist (and anyone else) is destroyed.
Resolve Chain 1: Ryu comes out

Now that Ryu is out, he can pay the 1000 to negate Traps.

However, based on your opponent's response to your difference in opinion, you may be better off having ended it when it did...

Something to keep in mind:

When he summoned Scientist, you should have asked if he wished to use his effect before you activated anything. However, you can chain to effects after they've "used their priority" (or gave it up).
If you asked and you opponent says "no", then you activate Torrential, it will be too late for your opponent to active the Monster's effect.

Hope this is as helpful as it is long...

Would he be able to use ryu though?

He summoned scientist I used Torrential he pays 1k to get a Ryu can ryu use his effect that far back in a chain?

Doesnt it have to be right after the torrential is used?

Read through the chain above. You are activating Torrential Tribute in the chain that causes Ryu Senshi to be summoned, but the effect was only activated, not resolved yet. So when both chains resolve, Torrential Tribute kills off all monsters on the field and then Ryu Senshi is Special Summoned. By that point, it's too late for Ryu Senshi to negate Torrential Tribute although he can negate other normal traps you activate for the rest of that turn.

like stated, the chain went

scientist > torrential

since chains resolve from end to beggingings,

torrential will destroy everything on the field before ryu senshi even gets summoned onto the field.

but yea, like stated you should have asked if your opponent would like to use its effect, because as stated scientis does have priority BUT for only 1 time of its effect if you activate something immedietly.

its the whole CED vs. Bottomless or Traphole, or Torrential.

since you do not know what your opponent will do, you have to give them the chance to actaully say if they will use its effect or not. if they choose to give up priority then just bottomrless or what ever you decide to do.

For senshi to actaully work, it should have been.

scientist w/ ryu senshi on the field>torrential tribute>ryu senshi trap negation effect

so in order for it to work the senshi has to be on the field.

its also the same thing as

jinzo in graveyard, your opponent uses call you chain with mst opponent then chains with imperial order and you chain that with mst.

since the chain is, call>mst>io>mst

that means that your mst will be able to kill off what it can kill off and jinzo not making it onto the field.

or just mst vs call.

call doesnt get to call jinzo because mst already destroyed it, its true it didnt negate it, but it did destroy it, and its effect dont activate if its no longer on the field. :D
