Ultimate Baseball Kid and Scapegoat

While reworking my FIRE Deck I came upona an interesting question.

I run Scapegoat with DNA Transplant.
Ultimate Baseball Kids second effect allows me to send a fire monster to the graveyard to inflict 500 points of Damage to my opponent, similar to Cannon Soldier's effect but they have to be "sent" rather than Tributed. Can I "send" a "Sheep Token" to the Graveyard, not to inflict damage, but to clear a spot on the field? Obviously the token would never make it to the Graveyard and never inflict any damage, but could I still "send" the token for the effect just to get it out of the way? I'm unsure how that works with cost effects and I dimly remember reading something in the rulings but can't quite pin it down. Any insight would be appreciated.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! there is one thing that we can all probably agree on here:

the 4 goat tokens + DNA Transplant are a VERY nice ATK boost for the kid.... (+4000 makes him at 4500...) ^_^
Posts like that in the rulings forum make me irritated.

ANYWAY, I think some of you are just not happy with the extrapolated ruling. Tokens won't work as Send to Graveyard costs.

What I find strange is the fact that this is a send-to-graveyard cost yet a monster does not have to be a fire monster WHILE in the graveyard. I'm just saying.

LOL I overlooked that part. That is an interesting wrinkle. And just when I was about to give in. :) I think this is subconciencly got the idea in the first palce. But I guess I'm just going to be told that it still has to be a monster in the Graveyard at the resolution of the effect and it doesn't matter if it's fire or not.

Hey! How does it get it's effect when the monster in the Graveyard is no longer fire? Aside from that I really don't see what's wrong with Chaos General's post. Four Sheep Tokens and DNA Transplant IS a great ATK boost. :)

Two things are checked to see if a card can fulfill the cost for Ultimate Baseball Kid. First: Is it a FIRE monster?
While it is on the field, it is indeed a FIRE monster, so is eligible.
Second: Can this card be sent to the Graveyard?
Tokens cannot be sent to the Graveyard because they cannot exist in the Graveyard.

As long as those costs can be paid and the requirements for the costs fulfilled, it doesn't matter what else happens to the monster used for the cost. It just has to be possible for the cost to be paid (that it is a FIRE monster that is sent and that the monster will go to the Graveyard). That it is not a FIRE monster when it enters the Graveyard is irrelevant.

Found another one. A monster card this time. Horus Level 4 (which means this will apply to all other levelling up)

"If Banisher of the Light" is in play, you cannot send "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 4" to the Graveyard, so you cannot activate its effect.

I had a guy try doing this in a tournament and told him that his monster is removed from play never made it to the graveyard. He wasn't happy when he relized that he forgot that I had Banisher of the Light face up on the field.

Well, as stated in the ruling, it wouldn't have been possible in the first place. The Horus would just stay on the field, not being able to use its 'send to Graveyard' effect.

I was never quite fully satisfied with some of the answers we came up with here oh so long ago. I understand fully that the tokens must be in the Graveyard to pay the cost for Ultimate Baseball Kid's second effect. But I'm not completely convinced that I can't try, for no effect other than to clear one of my Monster Card Zones. Someone please convince me othewise.
