It seems that the German Card text of "Ultimate Offering" can be missunderstood:

Is a player allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set by paying 500 LP for each

monster he summons by this effect or by paying 500 LP for each monster on his

side of the field at the moment "Ultimate Offering" resolves? [e.g. 1000 LP

if there are already two monsters on the owner's side of the field]

"Ultimate Offering" may also be activated in the battle step of either player's

Battle Phase, correct?

Best regards

Answer:

Basics of "Ultimate Offering":

- Only the controller of "Ultimate Offering" may use its effect.

- You pay 500 Life Points to Normal Summon/Set an additional monster from your

hand. The number of monsters on your side of the field has no impact on the cost.

- The controller of "Ultimate Offering" can only activate its effect during

their Main Phase 1, Main Phase 2, or their Oppoenent's Battle Phase.

I have just posted to 'Rules and Regulations' before I saw this entry about 'Ultimate Offering'. (Thread 3945I think). Copied below. So why teh Battle Phase and Controller 'ruling'?

All the discussion is interesting and the 'rulings' on this card should be tracked down, though note that the early Netrepâ„¢ rulings are for guidance only and have errors that have since been corrected.

In reading the card the interpretation seems obvious (I welcome being corrected!)

At the cost of 500 life points per monster [So this can be used many times]

a player [so either player, not just controller - see also 'spirit of pot of greed', 'Pandemonium', 'morale boost', 'Begone Knave!' for other uses of 'a player']

is allowed an extra normal summon or set. [Use of 'extra' implies 'in addition to one already completed', also Normal Summons can only take place during Main Phase 1 and 2, everything else is special]

So reading the text would imply that either player can normal summon extra monsters by paying life points only during their Main Phase 1 and 2. The Battle Phase exception seems erroneous. Can somone clarify why it should be possible to Normal Summon during the opponents battle phase? This does not seem to make sense. If the conditions for activating a trap card are not met then it cannot be activated (use made of its effect), a normal summon would require a Main Phase.

That is when Konami of Japan told us it could be used. It is still a Normal Summon because the card texts states that it is a Normal Summon.

If you think that is weird in the video games you can use it during any phase of either player's turn. Even your own Battle Phase. (Sets up for some nasty combo finishes in them old video games)
