Waboku (SDY/SYE/SDP/SDJ)

Ah, an old favorite that's been somewhat phased out in recent play. For 1 turn, all battle damage done to yourself and your monsters is reduced to 0. That means, none of your monsters can be destroyed by battle and you will take no battle damage. It's a simple 1 turn stall in most cases that can be great use when you have something on the field you don't want to lose. Just summoned "Magical Scientist" and he's stuck in attack position? "Waboku" will help ensure that he'll stay around long enough to be switched to defense. It can also be used offensively by activating it on your turn and then attacking a monster with the same ATK as yours. That way your monster will be saved while your opponent's creature would be destroyed.

"Waboku" however will do nothing against effect damage and effects that will destroy your creatures. Also given rise of cards that can prevent traps from being activated (as well as the popular "Jinzo"), more people have been using "Scapegoat" as their alternative (which can also provide limited tribute fodder).

All and all though, "Waboku" is still a solid choice for providing 1 turn of battle protection for all your monsters and yourself just when you may need it the most.

An oldie but a good one.

Waboku is great because of its chainability(sp?). Opponent activiates a card that gets S/T off the field? Counter with waboku. He's going to premature burial Jinzo? Counter Premature with Waboku. Your S/T field may have been wiped out or rendered useless but now the opponent can't hurt your monsters in battle and can't deal you battle damage (for that turn anyway). I love it when the opponent gets ready to pull off a great attack only to have it stalled by waboku. Machine decks have to be careful when they use Limiter removal. This little number will stop them in their tracks and cause their machines to self-destruct in vain.

This card doesn't stop the attacks from happening. Usually an opponent won't bother attacking you after you activiate it since it'll be to your advantage to get the monster in face-up defense mode. However, there will be occasions when they will attack. If you have both cyber jar and morphing jar in you're deck, you know the risk of special summoning Morphing jar with cyber jar's effect. Since both of you know the cards that were just picked up with Cyber effect's and the opponent may decide to attack morphing jar (assuming he has gain another monster ready to attack). If the opponent saw you picked some pretty good cards or simply doesn't trust your hand as it is, than he'll attack morphing jar. He loses what cards he gained as well as his own hand but when he decided to attack, that means his loss wouldn't be as severe as your own.

Its a solid choice indeed. No cost. No restrictions. Little hinderance in terms of being activiated as counter to an opponent's card and it protects you AND your monsters from battle.

waboku is alright, it was the best thing before the meta changed to Kill KIll Kill.

now most of the time you rarely see emesarry of harmony in play.

most people still love using it, but hate it when they lose because they have it in their deck and it took out from what could have been monster destruction.

i have completly stoped using it, my sister had stoped using it too, but i let her use 1 because of the way we needed to balance her deck out.

sometimes its good but other times the opponent doesnt even aim at hitting you,

LIke me, i dont try to hit my opponent activates waboku i try to clear the field. because you know when they play that bs, its because they want to summon something hard kore.

so id use getsu vs spirit reapers, Grandmaster sasuke vs. face up defense, and sasuke / mystic swordsman vs face down monsters.

face up attack will just lead me fissuring them if i cant beat them up with monster effects.

Emesarry of harmony is good, but now its just dying out, more people are going after the clear the field type motives that only lead to you picking up waboku's and your opponent monsters which leads to a horrible mess once you run out of wabokus.

Another nice benefit of Waboku is the suicide prevention ability. Since it can be activated on your turn, you can send a monster to destroy an evenly matched oponents monster and it will survive unscathed with Wobaku's protection.

Well, just swarm the field and slam everything you have into Lily. Mystic Tomato and Shining Angel are the most unbelievable anti-Lily cards ever. Just Waboku the last one...
