And bear in mind, that just as diligently as someone may be about bringing us down, there are those of us who are far more diligently making certain that we won't go down. What's the worse they can do to us? Take down our site? We'll put them back up. Take it down again? We'll put it back up again. And on and on, and I can tell you right now which one of us will give up first. They'll never be anything more to us then an annoyance. A pesky insect that keeps coming back until it gets squashed or tired. If anyone's intention is to take us down and take us down for good, then they picked the wrong people.

By the way, the site is back up.
 
Wow, those peeps are Lamers for trying to take down Lair or any other site... although... I wish they'd go after the alQueda stuff...
 
Interestingly enough, I don't think they hacked the Lair through the Lair site itself. At the time, I had an older version of WordPress on the server (a bloggng tool) that had some known, nasty exploits to it. I hadn't updated to the latest version and they were able to take over as admin and I wager to a few more things via SQL injection.

So let this be a friendly lesson to you, make sure your onlnie software is up to the latest version and be aware of known exploits to it 8^D
 
The Cookieslayer Collective is down again, and it had been fine since at least the previous post. I was even on there earlier today. I haven't seen the Deck Studio forums come back at all, though.
 
The Collective now seems to be on the hackers list now, providing another site for all hackers to have a go at. I'm all for communities, but a hacker circle is just not nice.
 
Yeah, it goes up and it goes down. Seems the hackers want to have a tug of war contest with me and Dillie-O. It's going to be a few days this time. I'll let you know when it's back up.
 
If the hacking work, the hacker won. Prevention is the only way to win.

Anyway, have you reported this to the authorities?
 
Both forums are back up. The DS ones went down briefly with this latest option. I want to put the honus on a PHP exploit, but I have to dig deeper. I never thought I'd have to add THIS much hacker prevention to my list of daily duties 8^D

They've been reported, for all the good that will do. I'm afraid when it comes to hackers, the battle has to be fought on your own.
 
D&D, out of curiosity have you tried hacking into the sites, yourselves, to see if you come across any security holes that way?
 
Sadly no, but I do try to keep up to date on the patches and the known holes in the forum software to see what I can do to keep things tighter locked.
