What do you hate about buying packs?

I'm just curious to know things you hate when buying a pack of cards. Mine are:

1. Wanting a specific card and getting some Ultra Rare card you don't want (like today, I bought 2 packs of DB2, and ended up with some pointless UR card called Mid Shield Gardna when I was trying to get an Airknight Parshath).
2. Getting the same 5 of the 9 cards in the same order in two+ packs in a row.
3. Buying 20 packs for one common card and still not getting that card.
4. Getting the same card twice in a pack

5. While not having to do with packs, paying more than $2-3 for shipping from a seller on ebay for one card (there is a user that wanted $7 for shipping for a Winged Kuriboh card he was selling for $6.95).

Probably the fact that i know the pack im going to buy will have shit in it, yet im still tempted to buy it, and then i do buy it, get nothing, and am mad at myself. lol.

just my 2 cents...

well i have a couple of tricks to avoid this.

1. have a duel scense: i have a sense for dueling and pulling so i kinda don't have to be mad.
2.appreciate commons:hey you don't know what could be useful down the line[hence Thunder Dragon]
3.do the bending trick:well packs with holo's seem to have a different ''bendability than rare packs here's my note's on this.
packs from lob-ast the less bendy the better the chances of a holo.
packs from sod-fet the less bendy the better
tlm ^^
crv see lob-ast.
it works i pulled 2 ult rares in two weeks[that's outta 2 packs]using this trick.

well what i dont like is that i cant get said common, uncommon or rare (magic) or in yugi Said common - rare - super - ultra - Ultimate version.

I dont buy Yugi packs often since i tend to just take the commons from people.

no seriously, people buy packs, then come to me and say "Hey jaffet, See if there is anything you want. :D" then i go, "Sure pass that along, you gonna use THis this and this??" them, "Nope take it if you want :D"

then i get the commons, this is good because when i build decks i tend to go through stacks of commons, its the first thing i go through, then rares, then supers, then ultras and so forth, for magic its the same common - rare.

thats one thing i dislike, but the thing about yugi vs magic is that magic has insanely large card pools in their sets, really it makes yugi look like a joke and you actually get more in magic than you do in yugi.

15 per pack vs. the 9 per pack at the same price.

come on. and taking the rarity into considering Magic wins. actually Pwns Yugi in the behind. lol

now, another thing i dont like is how expensive it is to buy a box of yugi. notice it comes out to about 75-80 dollars for only 24 packs with 9 cards per. while in magic is 105, for 36 packs with 15 cards per, whos the winner here? again magic. now this thread isnt about magic but about the packs, so im stating the ovious, for 25 extra 1 game system gets more packs and cards. Outragous i say.

another thing i dislike is Different places, sell them for different prices.

I go to one store they are 5 another they are 2.50 and another were they are a reasonable 3.50 - 4 dollars. now considering how many cards you get in yugi, the packs should be 2.50 a piece now in magic then te 3.50 - 4.00 is preaty fair.

another thing I dislike and annoys the living spirit out of me is, Thems.

in yugi sets are theme oriented for either the new team on the block or just support for other teams. now in magic depending on the block you basically know what your working with.

now check this out, with the new block for magic there are only 4 teams. becuase this time around its not just all 1 color oriented infact its team color oriented so, you basically make a deck work around it.

now lately after the simple fact ive opend a total of a whopping 13 packs, ive gotten more support for other teams than i have for my own. this is sad,

out of 7 packs i only got 7 cards, that measn 1 every pack or heck 0 in one and 2 in another and so forth.

my friend, same problem.. and hes runing the other team so we know that the 2 remainding teams got alot of support. lol

over all, what i do love, is the randomness. sometimes you get something you completly didnt have and find out it was either a common or and uncommon.

now in yugi since the sets are at 60 cards, your bound to have mass loads of the same common, this in turn is very good because come on, who doesnt want to have play sets in handy for multiple decks.

now if your like me and run around with a back pack filled with atleast 10-20 decks you know that sometime commons do run out, and thats when the packs get good. becuase you can easily score it.

i got a total of 15 Spiritual Arts Fire - Kurenai. guess what for? well i wanted to build 5 pyro decks with 3x a piece. lol

did I, not yet, but ive spread them around friends and basically got the 5 decks running around.

now, getting rares in yugi, if its just you then yes its annoying, but if you get with friends and buy hoard load you will quickly get what you need.

no seriously, My friend has pulled more support for me than he has for him self and I vice versa.

so preaty much we both help each other.

then once more of our friends join up we ovioulsy help each other.

one thing to remember is that the game is fun when you have more people to play with and your card pool is so big that you can practically make any deck.

currently me and my friend are looking for 7x Birds of Paradise and 8x Doubling season.

take into consideration that they both are rares and the reason why we need 7 birds is because i scored 1. lol

so preaty much that means from all the packs we have bought we only got to score 1 bird and no doubling.

no remember the thing about card game and friends buying with you is, that who ever pulls it has first dibs unless they just arnt using it.

and its always kool becuase yes they pulled it, now if they dont use it why not let somebody who will actually take a gander at it?

no harm no faul, Remember this usually tends to flow real good when your with close friends, I dont mean going out, i mean friends that are with you most of the time and you see them basically friends for Life.

in the end, packs are fun, their a good way to have a blast with a card game.

especially if you arnt thinking on staying for the rest of its sets. :D

There are a lot of things I hate about buying packs. First and foremost, I have to get out of my chair, while I can trade from here. Then, I have to spend money, which isn't something I've a lot of right now. Plus, I have THE WORST luck of anyone on these forums. I hear you complaining because you got a stupid ultra rare you didn't need. Well, I DON'T get ultra rares, not even the stupid ones. *sigh* Maybe I should try bending, but what if the store owner explodes at me? What if I can't seem to tell which is less bendy? *is so stupid, he can't even bend cards*
-pssvr

You guys are treading on a very "touchy" subject (pardon the pun, lol). Very soon the people who would object to that practice will certainly have their say on doing just that.

hey Pssvr, dude use the ratio found on the back of the packs, its not a 100% thing on each box but its a 90% chance and thats preaty darn good. :D

on a sealed box, just go through it, and pull thouse ratio numbers, then see how lucky you are :D

also, for everybodies knowledge, If you have a big shield and you dont want it and want an airknight super rare, ill trade you for it. lol

Dude, like this saturday, one of the new kix came in and was like "could i weigh the packs?" my friend chris was, "Okay heres the deal, you will be allowed to weigh packs only and ONLY if, you let me trow you out of that door while jaffet keeps the door open. Now, remember if you actually hit a car in a parking lot you can wiegh the whole box, if you hit just the parking lot you get half and if you dont get no were near and hit a wall then you can weigh only 1 pack."

he was like "woah, I guess i wont" lol

that was pure comedy. lol

doh, im gonna go buy some packs now. lol

I find the ratio usually works as well, although its really only a guideline.

There have been times I'll just walk up and grab a pack off the hanger. Did that 2 days in a row with CRV and got 2 Cyber Twin Dragons with just 2 packs.

I needed a Brain Control for one of my decks, walked into Target and bought two 2-packs of TLM and got one. Now that was luck.

oh yea, from the sealed boxy packs, the annoying ones yea thats raw luck not even i know the ratio on that and i tend to look for these sort of things.

now from raw packs, thats easier, and yea your right its a guideline, it helps out and sometimes just grabbing helps out too :D

For the first time in such a long time (easily over a year) (I tend to get cards for free from other sources instead. The cards may not be too great, but I'm getting them) I bought a pack: a single pack of DR1. The only notable things I got from it were an Old Vindictive Magician (better than a Man-Eater Bug in most of my Decks) and an XY-Dragon Cannon (which I can't use because I don't have any of the other stupid rare cards to go with it). And there was a Mefist the Infernal General which looks rather nice.

So yeah, not a great haul, even considering my personal meta (with no tournaments anywhere I'm just playing against my own other Decks, which aren't full of fantastic cards. I wouldn't dream of trying to build Decks in Advanced Format, because then they'd just be pathetic).

As other people have mentioned, I don't like buying packs (and haven't really ever done so except for that random whim) because they're too darn expensive. Plus you never know what you're going to get in them. If I get 2 cards per pack that I can use, I'm happy, but if not then I don't see the point. I'd rather get individual cards from other places than risk my money on potential rubbish.

Maybe I should start selling some of my unwanted cards, and use the profit to buy better cards that I want. I never seem to get around to it.

You're gonna be looking forever if you don't pay attention more.

"Mid Shield Gardna" is not an Ultra Rare, and is NOT in DB2 (it's in The Lost Millenium).
.

??? How come mine had both the name AND picture in holofoil? Are UR no longer limited to having name and pic holo? I thought it was Rare got holo title, SuperRare got holo pic, and UltraRare got holo title and pic.

1. Huh? I'm not sure what you mean, but oh well.
2. Oh, I have no problem with commons, in fact, some of the coolest cards are commons (Wingweaver, Gren Maju Da Eiza, Kelbek)
3. How do you do a bending trick? After all, the cardboard packages the card packs come in are thick and the bubble doesn't bend that well without opening the thing. I don't think Target or any where else would appreciate me opening their packages just to see how the card pack bends.

The bend is on Solid packs out of a Hobby box.

and there is a rarity above ultra which is Ultimate rare Or 3d Rare.

all rare - Ultra have this rarity. :)

yeah and the duel sense well call it a duelist intuition.also on a sidenote that to determine what is bendy or not , you compare it to other packs.

Ah, see, no store here sells the Hobby Box versions, they only sell them in the carded packages as if they were action figures.

And I have no idea what you mean by Ultimate Rare, but oh well. What is Shinato (DC version), Guardian Angel Joan (IoC), Zerato (AST), and Magician of Dark Chaos (IoC) considered?
