whats a "real" card game?

Poker, Texas hold em, etc..?

thouse game require absollutely no skill, just bluff out your opponent and hope to god what you got was the highst on the table.

in a TCG/OCG/CCG the factor is there, but it doesnt matter if your opponent has a higher hand, you could easily counter it if possible.

and magic just plain rocks dude. :D
Don't you think that is a little small-minded? Knowing when to raise, see, or fold, knowing when the opponent is bluffing, etc. all require immense skill. I'll agree that it takes an intelligient person to play YGO, while it takes only a skilled person to play poker, but still.

IMO the only real difference to the TCG/CCGs and the likes of Poker is the more complex rules of the TCG/CCG due to card interactions and the difficulty of collecting the cards & deck building. Everything else I can think of equally applies to both TCG/CCGs and older card games.

Common... We're talking about Poker and Texas Hold Em!!!! There really is no comparison! All players are playing from the same pool of cards.

Yugioh TCG, you have your deck, they have theirs, and its quite possible that the two will be no where near as similar. The complexities of the game are even that much more narrowed when you can actually count cards to figure out what may be left to play, whereas you can only count your opponents cards if you have had the opportunity to see at least 75% or greater of his deck.

There's no comparison, in my opinion. Both game types stand alone.

i play both / most basic card games, with my uncles and aunts.

usually it just comes down to, I have this is my hand, the odds of me pulling another pair downgrade by how many cards are out in everybodies hand vs. the cards left in the deck.

then you decided if you want to go.

hold em, basic similar thing only there are 5 cards already shown on the table which imensly helps your hand as well as your opponents becuase the cards belong to everybody.

in yugi, magic, vs. especially vs, if you put up a GLEE deck vs. a CS deck the only factor you got is what deck it is by what character has been played..

magic same thing, you play 1 green and 1 white, your deck is most likely a GW deck. your opponent plays Blue and Black then you know your opponent is playing control / counters.

basically after that, you have to guess out of a insanely huge card pool.

count all the cards in the MTG card pool and take a wild guess at which of thouse are in your opponents deck.

same with vs. same with yugi, only difference everybody love to cookie cut so the odds are both you and your opponents decks arnt all too different, but still 1 card can change everything.

now in a deck of poker or any generic card game, you have the same cards and everybody uses them, its just amater of time when we see somebody cracks and just fold.

It's hard to have money for all the packs, I missed out on so many sets, I'm glad there's the reprints to help me catch up.
Sometimes I also get frustrated trying to get Toon Table of Contents out of DB2, but at least there's a good chance I'll get some cards I haven't seen before, and I like to read the tip cards.
I have 2 so far (after about 10 or so packs) :D
The effort to get the cards makes the fun of using the cards even more so

I thought there was a tip in every pack?

He could have also pulled the same 2 Tip cards from all 10 packs. He would still have 10 Tip cards, but only 2 different ones.

I can't even imagine where you got an Ultra rare Mid-shield. You must have pulled an ultimate rare and didn't realize it.

PS *slaps krazy* battle me!
<EDIT: Uhhh... this is NOT the thread I was replying to. I have no idea how it got here, please don't flame me for going off topic, I certainly didn't WANT to...>

Cuz until this topic, I had no idea what an Ultimate Rare was. I only knew that something with text and pic being holo was Ultra Rare.

also, not to be a perfectionist since i dont even spell correctly sometimes.

the cards arnt holo (holographic) since that would take manipulation of light in order to make an object three dimensional. Preaty much the print work is foil.

they are in foil print. :)

thanks, sorry if i hurt anybodies feelings.
