What is it worth?

I don't ever dare tell my wife <laffin> but I'm wondering what a 1st Ed. set of every major set (minus DB1, DB2, TPs, Promos) goes for on the open market? Anyone ever seen such a thing for sale and what it went for?

While I'm not a collector that collects and then sells for profit....I can't help but wonder how much I've got sitting in my binders if I needed some finances for a project, crazy money, (gulp...braces for my youngest son) etc.

I know I've seen people who play in the Chicago area that make a pretty nice profit just collecting an entire 1st Ed. set and reselling it.

I suppose I'm enough of a player / collector (as well as judge) that it's part of the fun of the gaming experience....that I don't think I could bring myself to sell like that. I really enjoy being able to flip the pages and look at every single card....that's what I do when I know there SHOULD be a card that fits in deck X but I can't think of it.

I figure $200-$300 per set and probably closer to $500-$600 for the LOB set.

Just my thoughts.

I've recently seen LOB-AST 1/e sets go for a mere $1000.00 on eBay (last 6 months or so). I must assume there was something wrong with the condition of the cards for that price, but even so, I'd bet an entire collection of LOB->EOJ 1/e would still only fetch $2500.00 on the open market.

IMO, the junkyard mentality has come into play since the 60 card sets came out and all the reprints. You can buy the whole thing for $500, or just the parts you need for $1000.

So my answer is a seemingly very low $2500.00-$3000.00, based on nothing but a gut feeling and knowing that you would be talking about mint condition cards.

Not selling here, just enquiring.

Hi All. I think some of you may remember me. I spoke with John Danker and Digital Jedi a while back (DJ in July when I queried how the game of Yu-Gi-Oh was going).

It has been a while since I last played, nearly 3 years and in that time I have considered selling my collection of cards from Legend Of Blue Eyes Euro Edition through to the set that first contained Cyber Dragon. Presently they are taking up unnecessary space in my warddrobe and I have been told they would need to come with me when I decide to move out in a property of my own. I know full well I wont have the storage so perhaps now I should consider selling.

I've done a quick browse of the net for prices on some cards, e.g. Complete Ultra Rare Exodia Set in LOB. So far the prices I have seen have been around £30.00 which looks like it has dropped a fair bit as I remember them being more expensive. I suppose the reprints have brought the price down a little as it is easier to get hold of them. I would only imagine a collector would be interested in paying more for the shiny rares.

Generally I need some advice from players and collectors and anyone really who knows whats been happenning with the game. Do you think I should sell all my cards now or hang on to them for another time when the credit crunch has all but gone and people have money again.

Hey Mazera, how's it going?

Hard to tell really. The economy is probably close to getting as bad as it can get, so inevitably we will see an upswing. But it's hard to predict what will happen with card values as cards become more or less valuable. I've always been of a mind that if you want to sell, sell when you get a decent price, rather then trying to hold out for a better one. Holding out is way too unpredictable, and if your getting a good price for your product, a satisfying price, it will be less painful if you see you could have gotten a better one, and way less painful then finding out that was best opportunity you had.

Though, I'm one to talk, because I'm one of those cats that will hold onto my cards until they pry them from cold dead hands. =/

If I did sell them, do you think it would be best to sell them as a set or sell the cards individually. I was thinking an online auction site, but i know that can get costly.
