Who Says REBD is Inferior to BEWD?

[info]Effect: This card can be special summon by removing a Dragon type monster on your field from the game. Once per turn, during your Main Phase you can special summon a Dragon type monster outside of [Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon] from your hand or Graveyard to your field.[/info]Yay, be back reviewing, after awhile. This card isn't out yet, but I just HAD to review it after I read the spoiled effect that's released in japan.

Seriously, the poor Red-Eyes was always considered weak compared to Blue-Eyes, being LV7 with just 2400 ATK that's a Normal Monster. Even Metal version or darkness version were considered whatever effect. But now, we got the KING of all dragons that's even superior then even King Dragun or Five-Headed Dragon for dragons types. Really, this one card will revive the good old days of like 6+ years ago when Dragon-types ruled supreme. (now it's like Machines, Monarchs, and recently, Zombies) Why didn't Joey had this card when vsing Kaiba... who knows.

Okay, the card effect stat thingy.

Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

Dark/Dragon/Star 10

ATK 2800/ DEF 2400

Effect: This card can be special summon by removing a Dragon type monster on your field from the game. Once per turn, during your Main Phase you can special summon a Dragon type monster outside of [Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon] from your hand or Graveyard to your field.

----------------

First of all, although it's a LV 10 (i.e. 2 tribute monster) you don't have to tribute summon this card. You can summon this straight from the graveyard by CotH/Preme or heck, use it's effect to special summon from hand (I'll get to that in a second) And so for a monster that can be special summoned from hand, this card is BIG being a 2800ATK. (Cyber Dragon is 2100 ATK, Baboon is 2600 ATK, heck, even Gors in Japan only is 2700ATK) The only monster that can be special summoned from hand this easily (not rituals) that's bigger stats then this is pretty much the Envoy Duo (i.e. Chaos Emperor an Black Luster)

And remember, this is a 2800ATK DARK type. And with the easy special summon, this thing is literally a great Deck Dev bait or even that 2500ATK or higher dark tribute for either spell/trap buster one. (That card is HARD TO USE, but with this, it should be alot more easier. It's not just Summoned Skull, Giant Kosaky, DMoC anymore.)

So, it's stat is awesome.

Now the effect.

First of all, you can special summon this card from hand by removing from play a dragon-type monster from field. But remember, this is just 1 dragon. So it's pretty darn easy in a Dragon-deck. Just summon a LV4 or lower Dragon, (luster dragon, exploder dragon, Masked Dragon, etc) and then remove that from play for a 2800ATK beatstick. But is that it? No, it does more then that.

After it's summoned, once per turn during your main phase, you can special summon any dragon-type monster except REDMD from graveyard or hand. Now, this is BIG. ANY FREE special summon of ANY dragon-type. Ya know what this reminds me of? Yes, Zombie Master and Il Blud. And we know how big of a hectic havoc those two card are doing in metagame wise being all tier 1 Zombie. And heck, this guy, can be SPECIAL SUMMONED FROM HAND and FREE COST and no "re-summon". Seriously, this effect is better then Il Blud effect (Better then even The Creator in a Dragon-type deck) and it's not even a Gemini, but can be special summoned from hand, WITH a bigger stat to boot..... WTF! I'll say the best dragon-type targets for this card is either King Dragun for protection (That would be the first, if it's actually in the grave after fusion summoned) Exploder Dragon for monster kill, or maybe Spear/Luster Dragon for high beatstick stat.

So okay, you CAN'T target another card of itself, but seriously, that's not exactly the case. Say you have 2 or even 3x REDMD in your hand. First, you normal summon a regular Dragon. Then remove that to special summon the first REDMD, then with that REDMD effect, you special summon a dragon-type monster from the graveyard. And with THAT new dragon from the grave, remove that from play to special summon the 2nd REDMD. And with THAT, special summon another dragon from grave, and remove that for a 3rd REDMD..... YEAH... that's an auto potential 8400LP damage right there if they can all attack directly for game. And with that 3rd REDMD, you can pull out a King Dragun for protection other then Torrential/Mirror. Or just use some Stamping Destruction to get rid of pesky s/t.

The removal cost part isn't that bad. Why? Cause Dragon decks are already running Future Fusion and Dragon's Mirror mainly cause of King Dragun and Five-Headed Dragon in there fusion decks. This supports that whole theme. (Dumping say 1x REDMD and 4x other dragons with Future Fusion. I personally won't dump all 3x REDMD, mainly cause it's better if it's in your hand rather then on graveyard) And remember, once King Dragun was fusion summoned by Dragon's Mirror, then you can revive him from the grave. (Say REDMD) And with all of these graveyard revival, you can run "Card of Safe Return" just like those zombie decks are running. (although, without the "Book of Life" like card for zombies, it's still a bit hard to abuse it) And just run either RftDD or Dimension Fusion along with all of this and you seriously got a broken dragon deck. (Especially Dimension Fusion, cause that lets your dragon's stay on the field, and thus when they die, goes to grave which means more targets for REDMD)

Really, this card is the best dragon monster ever printed next to Chaos Emperor dragon. This card itself will revive Dragon-type decks just like how Zombie Master and Il Blud revived the Zombie decks. So with this card, you can either go pure Dragon-type deck, or Dragon/Machine hybrid deck. (i.e. Cyberdark decks) I mean, that Cyber dark Dragon will be happy equipping a 2800ATK beatstick onto itself. (Although the best target is obviously the Five-Headed Dragon)

Too bad it's not out here yet, but yeah, this card is literally a must-get for any dragon fans of YGO.

-----------------

In the end, I give this card a

11 out of 10

This card DEMANDS somekinda limitation. TOO GOOD if it's running in 3x. (And believe me, in ANY Dragon or Dragon/Machine-type deck, they WILL run this thing in 3x) I'll say either 1~2x limit at least. But we'll see just how much havoc it does in japan first.

(EDIT: I made an error and put Trap instead of Dark Attribute.)

Sorry about that Zero. I fixed the Attribute for you. I knew the way the radio boxes were formatted that people were likely going to select the wrong attribute. I'm going to change that to a drop down selection box instead of a radio button selection. That way there are no accidents.

Good review by the way. Hope you like the new features. Coincidentaly, you posted this while I was right in the middle of adjusting them. :D

Dear Lord, this card is gonna raise HELL! Although, the effect is awesome, it seems a little too easy to summon. Eh, I'm not complaining. I may have to switch my main theme from Machines to Dragon/Machines. ^_^

Being a dragon fan I almost started drooling as I read this, where did you get your info from? For as much as I would love to think this is the exact effect we will get, I can't help feeling that konami will spoil it, although they left Dark Armed Dragon as it was so maybe just maybe... this card would be awesome with a couple of the cards from "The Rise Of The Dragon Lords" Structure deck. Namely DarkBlaze dragon "AKA The monarch punisher" and also Card of Safe Return, or dragon return decks running Dragon's Mirror.. We stil need more lv4 and lower dragon's that are more playable but this will do very nicely... Great review, keep it up!
