Winged Kuriboh TLM-EN005

Effect Monster (Fairy / LIGHT / 1 Star / ATK 300 / DEF 200)

When this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, its effect is activated. After activation, during this turn, any Battle Damage that the controller of this card takes becomes 0.

I'd love to see how by growing wings, the little fuzzball goes from being a Fiend to a Fairy and from Dark to Light (I mean, can't we have 1 Dark Fairy in the game OTHER than "Doma The Angel of Silence"? *ahem*

What we get here is a er, mass-Kuriboh effect. Unlike the normal one, he has to be on the field instead of in the hand and destroyed instead of discarded. Also Winged Kuriboh must go to the Graveyard to get his effect while the regular one doesn't (so that means if he's "Nobleman of Crossout"-ed, you don't get the effect). However if you do manage to get that, you're basically protected from battle damage from the rest of the turn. Note that like Kuriboh, you are protected, your monsters aren't. Also if the monster has trample or if Winged Kuriboh is in attack position, you still will take the battle damage from that attack (since that occurs before his effect activates). Since his effect activates in the Graveyard, Winged Kuriboh is not subject to "Skill Drain" but he is Anubisable.

Overall, Winged Kuriboh is... eh. He's not bad per say, but there are a few cards you could put in there that in most cases could serve you better (Waboku, Hallowed Life Barrier, er... Kuriboh?). But being a Light, you could build a Kuriboh themed, Chaos deck. And being a Fairy... um... "The Sanctuary in the Sky" them? Funny thing is in the YGO GX series the story has it that he is the rival of "Ancient Gear Golem". Somehow I can see that.

ugh. How dare they! Kuriboh is, and always shall be, a Fiend. I shall hereby only refer to "Winged Kuriboh" as Skippy: the antithesis of what Kuriboh should be. Amen

*sigh*

Ok, Im over it now. I think that The Sanctuary in the Sky + Skippy is a bit redundant. However, I can definitely see a use for Skippy in a deck with Agent of Creation-Venus, Mystical Shine Balls and, most especially, Mudora.

the only thing that really, really bothers me is that in CRV there is a reported "Winged Kuriboh L. 10". Why then, could they not make this one a Level monster as well?

Winged Kuriboh is not good, and should only be considered if you are REALLY desperate for Light monsters that aren't Magician of Faith, Blade Knight, and D. D. Warrior Lady.
every card can be great. Sure it took Skull Servant forever and a day, but look at what he's got now.

I still feel that "Skippy" can do some good in a Fairy deck loaded with Shining Angels and Mudora. Loads of Good. In fact, considering the requirements for summoning the Winged Kuriboh L.10, I would be much more likely to run "Skippy" without L. 10.

Oh, it's still life point damage?
It's just that, Winged Kuriboh says "all battle damage is reduced to zero", and not "all battle damage to your life points" like Kuriboh says
I guess I interpreted it wrong ^_^;

Winged Kuriboh specifies the "controller" destroying a monster is damage done to a monster, not the controller.

Because if you've seen the requirements to summon "Winged Kuriboh LV10" you wouldn't want them to get around that with a simple "Level Up!!"

Level Up! needs the monster to be written in the card text. Winged Kuriboh could have had LV in its name, as long as it didn't mention LV10 in its text Level Up! would not work. (But other cards like Graveyard in the Fourth DImension would work)
