XY-Dragon Cannon MFC-EN051

XY-Dragon Cannon
Fusion Monster (Machine / LIGHT / 6 Stars / ATK 2200 / DEF 1900)

"X-Head Cannon" + "Y-Dragon Head"
This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play the above cards on your side of the field; then you can Special Summon this card from your Fusion Deck (You do not use "Polymerization"). Discard 1 card from your hand to destroy 1 face-up Spell or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field.

"¢ There are no published rulings for "XY-Dragon Cannon".

This card, I feel, is the worst of the 3 mini-fusions for the XYZ set. There is a far larger majority of set cards being played then face-up spell/traps. This card only trues shines against Burn/Stall decks.

2200 ATK for a 6 star, along with 1900 DEF makes it Tsukuyomi-proof. It can also stand up to most monsters people run, even in DEF mode. This card also offers a 1-1 trade, 1 from your hand (free if you use Night Assailant looping) for destruction of 1 of their face-up spell/Traps. Like I said, if your opponent runs Burn/Stall, this fusion will be the most helpful. It also geta aid from Machine support, and is Light so it's chaos food.

This card's main disadvantages come from the state of today's meta. On average, there are 3-4 Spell/Traps that stay face-up (Snatch Steal, Call of the Haunted, Premature Burial, Swords of Revealing Light), hence you won't get XY's effect to work very often. It will most likely stay in the fusion deck if you are playing against a cookie cutter deck.

When playing this card, be aggressive with what you destroy. Always pop something every turn with XY as soon as you can. When it does work, it's really cool.

The best decks for this card, are well, none. It's a Fusion. But this fusion should be in the fusion deck of every XYZ deck. It can be in any other fusion deck, but it probably won't get used.

Advanced: 3.5/5 Not a lot to use it's effect on here, but good stats.
Traditional: 3.75/5 You can pop Imperial Order here.
Limited: 0/5 You won't get it to work, trust me.
Sealed Pack: 0/5 You won't be able to pull it off here.

The nice thing about the XYZ fusions is that you don't need to use Polymerization. You need only remove them from play. This is both good and bad. Bad in the sense that removing from play is hardly ever a good thing since it takes away from any Graveyard recursion, but good in that it allows for cards like Dimension Fusion and Return from the Different Dimension.

First off, the stats. LIGHT is Chaos friendly and benefits from Luminous Spark as well as a few other mediocre cards (Ray of Hope, Solar Ray, etc). 2200 ATK isn't great for a 6-star, but isn't bad either. 1900 DEF will stand up to a lot and rounds out the stats all in all as above average.

The fusion summon is of course a Special Summon. Having an X-Head Cannon and a Y-Dragon Head on the on the field at the same time shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're running them in 3s. Frontline Base helps and the fact that Y-Dragon Head is searchable by Shining Angel and the soon to be released UFOroid helps matters.

The best part about this card is the effect. If you have a Sinister Serpent or a Night Assailant in your hand (along with 1 in the Graveyard) this is like a free Mystical Space Typhoon per turn. And you can use this effect more than once per turn so long as you have the cards to discard. The downside to this is that the targetted card must be face-up. Which means you'll most likely only be destroying a Continuous card. However, this shines brilliantly against stall and burn.

Obviously the only place you're going to see this card is in the Fusion deck of an XYZ deck. You can't even use it anywhere else because of the "only X and Y" part.

Use it when your opponent has a Spell or Trap vulnerable that is giving you problems (Wave-Motion Cannon, Swords of Revealing Light, etc). Use it when your Z-Metal Tank pieces are already used up, otherwise you might want to hold off in hopes of getting XYZ out.

Advanced: 4/5 Nice stats with a nice effect.
Traditional: 2/5 Hard to pull off here.
Limited: 0/5 without both X and Y.
5/5 if you can get them both together.
