See, I'm not the only one. Benjamin agrees with me.

Furthermore, you've no right to dictate how I make my clues. Considering how much you yelled at me for trying to get people in the Neverending story game to follow the rules and use proper grammar, it astounds me that you'd flame my riddle here.
 
I don't have an answer at the current time (making dinner and all), but I'm not sure how thinking like me would have helped. *scratches head*

Are we talking mythology, some kinda movie/song, or politics?

The champion of gaffs might be some kind of enourmous fish, like Corroding Shark. Then again, it might be less literal, and could have something to do with Captain Ahab or something random like that.

I wonder if "soiree" is of any real significance, or if "party" could've been substituted there. It certainly would be less scary to Benjamin. But would something have been lost there?

I never did any research on Jathy's puzzle. I wish he'd post an explanation of the clues, because 90% of the time I didn't know what was going on. ;)

Point taken :p If he were Last Will-able, he'd have a permanent place in my heart lol.

As far as the clues, I'm still trying to decipher whether gaff is meant in the fishing way, or the joke way. Either way, I'm going with Roaring Ocean Snake for now.
 
Any more guesses before I have to give another clue?

It may be useful to know that both of the clues could be direct quotes from the card. Not me describing something I encountered.
