It's impossible to solve the puzzle without the sonnet right in front of you, so i better post it again:

  • Did Mister Winston Churchill help you find
A clue, a quote, direction where to look
Or how instead, to read the clue aligned?
Ask when the desert countries have been took.

For young writers this is simple homework
You might have written blank verse, though
All small lines, not iambic verse
One word only; each some info.

    Edgar authored many cryptic stories
    Sarah's an enigma to decipher
A challenge too lies here within like she
Read along and you will find the answer
Here, The riddle's answer that you covet
Is concealed within this puzzling sonnet.

Ok... this comes to mind, a lonely person or a complete lifeless field... Deserts, but Desert Sunlight would be to easy and predictable... so why not come to what the "riddle" is which is a question... so how about:

Ordeal of the Traveler?

I don't really think paying attention in English class would've helped with this. What I'm really stuck on is who the heck this Sarah is.

that wont be so hard to figure out when you figure out the first third of the sonnet.... the part with Churchill... it will direct you to the right time in Poe's life i believe, and even the right WORK to look at.... I think Sarah is just a bit of extra info to help you confirm that you have the right story / poem or whatever to look at...... and Im pretty sure that if you solved the churchill part, the whole SARAH issue will not be hard to figure.. especially which one

I think the key is to figure out how they relate to each other.. what i mean is... what do they have in common... err.. how they can fit together to point you directly to the card you are looking for.... does that make sense?
My problem has been interpreting how they fit... so far.... and as i read on and on i think of new cards.... i think more patience is in order..
