blast on gaerfried(again)

Well, in order for Blast with Chain to be destroyed, it would have to be equipped to Gearfried the Iron Knight. Once it was equipped, the 500 boost should be active, since it was not negated and successfully equipped. So the attacking monster, during Damage Calculation, would be destroyed by the boost, and then gearfried's effect would trigger, and destroy Blast with Chain, and destroy a card on the field.

I dont see it as the equip card having to be there for "10 seconds" in order to destroy Cyber Dragon. There was a successful resolution to Blast with Chain with no negation, so it should boost first, then destroy second.

Just to back what Woo is saying, Gearfried's effect is indeed a trigger effect albeit a rather continuous looking effect considering it happens immediately after the triggering is complete.

We had another more indepth discussion on Gearfried and his Swordsmaster counterpart in another thread that would be worth looking into if you need more info.

To clarify this for everyone's edification. As you can see from the chain point indicated by Ruling #2 for Gearfried the Iron Knight it is a trigger effect (not continuous). Thus it would not be able to Destroy Blast with Chain before Damage Calculation (anymore than Man-Eater Bug would destroy your opponent's monster before he was killed by an attack). Blast with Chain will Boost Gearfried, Gearfried will thus be victorious in Damage Calculation against Cyber Dragon. Then in the resolve effects step Gearfried will destroy Blast with Chain, this starts a new chain with Blast with Chain's destruction effect.

His effect triggers when a Monster 1400 or less is summoned, so wouldnt he destroy any monsters that are summoned with him in the Damage Step, before it reached the beginning of the Battle Step for the newly summoned monsters that are above 1400?

Now that they consider it an actual Trigger, there is no activation window prior to DC for Gearfried's effect to actually activate in... and the plot thickens... so it's unclear how it all works...possibly no BwC at all.
