Diamond Dude / Horus LV6

I saw an interesting discussion on another site concerning a scenario such as this...

Diamond Dude's effect is activated and the normal card flipped up is Smashing Ground.

The next turn the only monster on the opponent's side of the field is Horus LV6....is it destroyed?

It was an interesting conversation and showed (although we already know this) how confusing the card text is on a number of cards such as Spell Caneler, Jinzo, Diamond Dude, Horus LV6 and 8.

Wasn't there a similar question. About activating spell cards by Diamond Dude while Spell Canceller is out on the field? And if I'm correct, Diamond Dude can still activate normal spell cards from top of deck even with Spell Canceller. So I have to say yes, Smashing Ground "lingering effect" will kill Horus LV6. It was first turned from spell card effect to monster card effect, and then after that on the next turn, it became a "lingering effect" like the lingering effect of Limiter Removal or Last Will or something.

Smashing Ground never became a monster card effect, nor did it become a lingering effect. The spell card was just activated from the graveyard instead of the field, that doesn't in any way change the nature of the effect other than allowing it to bypass Spell Canceller (a little surprising since Spell Canceller doesn't say anything about spells "on the field") and Imperial Order which was obvious.
