Initial Impressions: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy

Been playing this for some time now. Timed Duels are definitely a nifty feature but the best part is all the Japanese-only cards that are in the game. The Gadget cards, Marshmallon, Cathedral of Nobles, Mystical Beast Serket, Calamity of the Wicked, Metal Reflect Slime, Master of Dragon Knight, F.G.D., etc.

And so far this one definitely has the best music during duels.

Ive been playing it lately more and more and guess what i found incorrect text:

Card of Sancity have the following effect:
Both players draw till they have 6 cards in their hand.

but activate the card and you will get this effect:
Remove all cards from your hand and field. Draw upto 2 cards. lol

thats funny huh.

the card has the wrong text to get people to either 1. use it. or 2. it was a mistake by konami. lol

Too many glitches but a good start. If this what to expect from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Portable then sign me up for the long haul. I consider this game a beta for the real GX experience on PSP.

So is it worth it finding/talking with the "?" on the map?
They seem to take up the weekend wandering about...

The game sounds like lots of fun. I wish they would come up with something good for the Ps2. One can only play Duelists of the Roses so much.

Whenever a ? appears you NEED to do that to advance the story. These ? only appear after you have done a certain number of tasks or a certain number of months or duels have passed. It also depends on what dorm you are in too.

This is a great game. And what is the glitch with Smashing Ground?
I've heard that if your opponent's monster has 0 DEF, it will destroy your monster instead, even if it's face-down.

Tiso, thanks for the info. Looks like I've got a lot of ?'s to go hunt down...

Ick, good thing I usually don't run it 8^D I finally pulled a Mefist! I just need a Dark Ruler Ha Des and I'll be able to build a decent fiend deck in it. 8^D Anybody know how many cards are in the game? I know I like some oddball cards for some of my decks, but I'm afraid I won't get to build them in here.

Yeah, I did not even get to do Chazz Thunder until like 2 years after I been to Duel Academy and was already King of Games and this was an event I should have done like within the first few months.

Wow... and I thought I was having a hard time getting cards!! I've had a Mefist the Infernal General seems like for forever!! I even got my Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning relatively easy as well.

My deck is pretty good considering. The only time I had a real difficulty was with the Fusions. Rituals was a piece of cake!!

My first Fusion test so was horrible. I had BARELY managed to get 6 Fusions for the test and they were like horrible. 2 Elemental Hero Fusions, 1 Meteor Black Dragon, and 3 other scrub ones. I had to like keep my opponent from having any face-downs and just used stall cards till I got each other.

I see you didnt manage to get them in the trick I used the whole time...

Sword of Deep-Seated...

lol Why do you think I kept mentioning that card? I saw it so many times it was ridiculous.

Once I got the computer to discard that card, I just kept a high attack monster on the field in defense and attack. It helped to have that one Satellite card that can only be destroyed by a level 7 or higher monster, and it gains 1000 attack each turn.

Did you get the event where you HAVE to be dropout boy and you duel the gym teacher, Fontaine? If you win, you get raised back to apprentice duelist and you get extra DP equal to the LP you had at the end of the duel.

And losing practical duel exams doesn't matter, as long as you do what is required (fusions, spells, battle, traps, rituals)

Yep! That little trick scored me big! I had a great opening hand and won with 8000 DP in my pocket. I picked up a whole slew of packs that way.

Though, I had to face the music from my wife calling me a dropout boy for a bit 8^D

if you end up the drop out boy, thats preaty sad. Unless your doing it for a FAQ, but beyond that. the game is too easy to lose easily at it or even be a Drop out :)

You're lucky. I wish my wife would only call me dropout boy. Grown guy playing YGO...on his game boy...that was a gift from his mom? Dropout boy would be an improvement... *sigh*

I'm just glad that YGO is so cool, I don't seem to care...:D

I havent lost a Duel to go back to "Drop Out Boy" yet. I'm at "Honored Duelist", but it is getting a little too easy now. I play for about 2 weeks gametime, then quit, whereas before I would play until I got tired.
