It's Time for the Banned list to Go!!!

Very well, said masterwooO. In addition to that, this should the ban list should be looked upon as a way for players to challenge themselves. As for myself I've made over 30 decks. The truth is when a player uses the effect of Giant Germ it is equivalent of drawing two cards, except you get two monsters instead. What many duelists don't understand is that many of the cards had to be banned, because many of their effects had relatively no consequences. As long as a card has a downside, or some sort of consequence it would not need to be banned. In addition to that, I've come to the conclusion that if duelists (mainly those in the US) are still complaining about the Ban list, and not looking for alternatives (many of these cards are in commons such as Thunder of Ruler, Smoke Grenade of the Thief and many others) (SGOTF which can be played just like Confiscation), then they must not really be that good. Think about it, have any American duelists won Worlds yet. I don't think many US duelists have reached what I call the NEXT LEVEL, which I intend to write an article about in the next few days. Personally, I think that all spell and trap cards that are affliated with a monster type (Machines for an example), or specific group of monsters (Toons, Union, Dark Scorpions) should be unrestricted, and limit all other spell and traps to one that do not fall in this category. Restricting Limiter Removal to one, is about the only card I don't agree should be on the restricted list.

I also believe, the semi-restricted list is useless. It is easier to either limit it to one or ban it all together. Some have called for the ban of Breaker the Magical Warrior, which personally does not make any sense to me. Breaker is overrated enough as is, just like Jinzo.

The ban lost most certaily drove pople away from the game. There was a long list of people on forums saying outright that they would just quit if a ban was impossed months before it was confermed we'd actually have one. On the other hand, there were people that said they eagerly were awaiting the ban.

I saw quite a few online polls taken and the vast majority of players welcomed the ban as opposed to those who didn't. Looking at things in retrospect, it was a wise thing to do. We've been seeing a great number of players quiting lately because they just can't seem to get a good grasp on the game the way they would like. Imagine if that had been the case if we were still playing Traditional. I think we lost a lot of people when the ban list was instituted, but I think we gained more then we lost. A lot of players ended up coming back be cause they didn't realize how much more room for expression there was in this new meta.

Exactly! Above all else, the game should be fun! Winning is always in there somewhere, but who said you cant have fun, and win too?

When you get up from a hard fought Match, shake your opponents hand, and reflect back at either your victory or loss, it should never feel like you were "at work", or, "cutting the lawn".

It's a game! Once you lose sight of that, then it becomes a chore, or a business like relationship. I know when I go to work and I am doing something highly repetitive, it sure doesnt feel like the day moves any faster.

Once your deck ceases to suprise you, and even those around you, that's a good sign that you are "run of the mill" now. "Same old, same old."

No one is saying that you should run out and completely trash your deck after you have made it a masterpiece, but you have got to find a way to keep spicing things up, when you can. Duelist League's, Local Tourney's, out of area Tournament's where you have never played before, etc.

The Ban List has made it easy to go in different directions, you just have to want to.

I have no problem with losing I mean I have a Gate Guardian Deck for heavens sake. I also don't have problems with new ideas for decks with the banned list as it was I built 24 different theme based decks and they were all very different and did many things totally differently. Mostly I play for fun but myself and my friends still adhere to the Advanced format. As I stated in my earlier post The actual act of changing every deck was what soured my stomach. When new sets came out I'd always build a new deck. But not being able to use the certain card that would allow a deck to really go is what would irritate me the most. You can't use Guardian Elma because you can't use Butterfly Dagger Elma cause someone figured out that if you put it on Gearfried the Iron Knight you could build an Exodia lock deck. Ughh I get that some cards are over the top. And shame on the designers if you want to blame someone. All I know is the banned list made me walk. Never mind thinking I can't build something different. I don't have that problem, rarely did I play Chaos, but I did have that deck. I played an earth Deck with Gigantes before all my friends suddenly were running him for trap disposal. I just can't explain it all. I just didn't have the same excitement for Yugi and I noticed many others I'd see at card shops who used to be top players who just sold their collections for what they could and did something else. There may be 80% playing traditional but not in my area and especially not in my age bracket. We play advanced. I guess I just wasn't ready today to put on a happy face and say yeah man I'll build a new deck with new stuff and it'll be even better than before. I like finding ways to counter the hard decks. Incidently for the new Dark World Decks out there I can't wait to introduce new players to an old card the Banisher of Light. I findly have a reason other than my Gate Guardian and my Gren Maju De Aiza decks to run my 2000 defense removal card. Any how hope everyone keeps playing, but I was being honest when I posted what I did about the banned list and how it affected me.
