Just a Few Questions

  1. I have two monsters on the field with Call of the Haunted and Premature Burial. Then I flip them face down with card effects. Would the spell and trap card still be on the field?
  2. Would my opponent's monster attack still destroy my monster after I used Sakuretsu Armor?
  3. Let's say I used Card Destruction and my opponent used Dust Tornado, Would the effect of Card Destruction still work? Is Dust Tornado a bit slow in regards to Spell speed?
Off-Topic Question
Why is it that when I'm done with sentences and I then add some words into the sentences, the other words before the word get deleted? Example: I want to add this word but this gets erased/deleted.(blue: added word, dark red: deleted/erased words)

1. Call, I won't get into. Premie, however, is an equip card, and MUST have a valid and FACE UP target, or else it will be destroyed by a game mechanic.

2. No, sakuretsu negates the attack, and that really means "negate", not some confuzzled-up Konami version of negate.

3. Card Destruction need not be on the field to resolve its effect. Once it's activated, it will resolve unless negated. This is different from, say, continuous or equip cards, which DO need to remain on the field in order to work properly.

Off topic: Trying hitting that nifty button called "insert" on your keyboard. ;)

For the off-topic question, press the "Insert" key and you'll be fine.

1. Equips have a basic mechanic. They must have a target to remain on the field. They cannot be equipped to a face-down monster.

Call of the Haunted is not an equip, but its only target can be a face-up monster. Otherwise, it would remain on the field meaninglessly if its original target is flipped face-down.

2. Sakuretsu Armor does not negate an attack. But if the monster is destroyed before it can "complete" the attack, then the defending monster remains untouched, does not flip or otherwise change state, and it is as if there were no attack. But, it was not negated.

3. Dust Tornado destroys Card Destruction, but does not negate the effect. It would allow you to set a card from your hand.

2. Sakuretsu Armor does not negate an attack. But if the monster is destroyed before it can "complete" the attack, then the defending monster remains untouched, does not flip or otherwise change state, and it is as if there were no attack. But, it was not negated.
See, that's what I get for trying to answer a question about a card I don't own. ;)

Thanks for answering. Might have more later in the future.
That's a heck of a lot better than having more EARLIER in the future. :p

Don't be afraid to ask. We don't flame people for asking. Well, not on Sundays, anyway. :icon_twis

This also relates to what Jason wrote in his first post above (re: Card Destruction). The location of the card is not always directly tied to the effect. If MST were to target and destroy a Continuous Spell or Trap card, then essentially it is stopping the effect.

But if MST is used on any other kind of Spell or Trap, that does not need to stay on the field to resolve its effect, then MST can destroy the card, but not stop the effect itself.

Same effect for Continuous Spell or Trap card that they'll be negated when they are destroyed by Mystical Space Typhoon applies for Equip Cards (Spirit Reaper, Snatch Steal and Mystical Space Typhoon).

Most effects resolve wherever they want to. If you chain MST to a F/D trap, and it is Jar of Greed, your opponent can activate it, and it resolves first, then gets destroyed by MST. But it is the same if they use Jar of Greed and you chain MST. MST destroys Jar of Greed from the field and then jar lets them draw a card. Same deal with using MST or dust to kill a normal magic card after activation: Waste of your S/T kill. Except for Heavy Storm. Use MST/dust in response to Heavy Storm just to be a comedian. If you have another F/D S/T, kill it with the MST/dust. I make people laugh all the time by doing this.

But anyway, there are much more costly (in terms of game cost and monetary value) which negate and destroy rather than just destroy. Or some just negate. But destroy is not equal to negate. Except for what was said. Equip cards MUST RESOLVE TO BE VALID. If an equip card is destroyed before it resolves (and equips), it is technically negated because it never comes into play.

Off topic #2: I just realized I can't remember "is not equal to" in C++. Anybody know? (<>) ?

Was going to put that the first time, then I realized I didn't remember what it was. I haven't messed with C++ in over a year and I am getting rusty. All I remember and I might have it backwards is cin >> and cout <<. Right? Or reversed? I am taking a refresher very soon here. But if you know slither, and would like to help me....
