King Dragun's effect and cards that do/do not target

OK, my son and I had a discussion about King Dragun's effect, which lead me to second guess my assumptions. The discussion revolved around cards that target and cards that dont. King Dragun's text reads:
"As long as this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot target Dragon-Type monsters for the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Monster Card."
First I am wondering if there is an official or unoffical list of cards that do/don't target.
Second, here is a few cards that I think do:
Snatch Steal
Change of Heart
Sakuretsu Armor
Ring of Destruction
Magic Cylinder
Trap Hole
Man-Eater Bug
Archfiend of Gilfer
Dark Necrofear
Nobleman-Eater Bug
Dark Jeroid
Newdoria
Equip spell cards

Cards that dont:
Dark Hole
Mirror Force
Raigeki
Torrential Tribute
DD Warrior Lady
Penguin Soldier
Smashing Ground
Bottomless Trap Hole

I know there are more but these are all I could think of off the top of my head. Please correct me if I am wrong and also direct me to list.

Penguin Soldier does target sir.

I dont think there currently is a list, but usaully a card that will say target one, choose 1, etc.. stuff like that will usually target. Not to mention all equips and most traps that target.

we also have quick plays that target as well like Order to Charge, but that targets your stuff.

preaty much, its anything your opponent uses to choose a specific card. not a set of cards.

Mind Control targets too. :)

OK, so then as a rule of thumb, if the card states that "a monster" or "one monster" on your opponents side of the field..., then that card targets. Because here is where the confusion starts: I recently read on another web page (not pojo) that DD Warrior Lady does not target. To me, it does, but this is why I am asking. Does this mean DD Assailant also does not target? What about Hade-Hane, which reads "..up to 3 monsters"?

Hade-Hane does target.

but the D. D.'s do not target because they are effects that just happen, you dont choose with them, when they are put in the situation they ask for, its your choice to decide were the monsters will end up.

thats why they do not target. :)

it seems odd, BUT if you look at the rulings of D. D. Warrior Lady vs. Archfiends you will notice that the archfiends dont get the die roll because the warrior lady doesnt specifically designate it as the target.

its just an event that happens.

were as if a monster says choose one, etc.. then yea.

its like, okay,

Man Eater bug.

Choose 1 monster on the field

now lets look at warrior lady

When this card battles with your opponent's monster, after damage calculation you can remove the opponent's monster and this card from play.

notice how in both effect are written up differently.

1 of them states a situation were the other just says Choose 1.

D. D. doesnt say Select a monster. it says that after damage calculation when it battles an opponents monster you can remove both from play.

assailant and Yomi Ship are the same way, they do not target.

because its events that just happens. you can / cant control it.

Magic Cylinder and Sakuretsu do target since it's entirely optional as to which attacking monster you activate them against and the target is chosen there and then.

Or if you want proof from the rulings the fact that using Book of Moon to flip the monster you declared the attack with face down in a chain with Magic Cylinder will prevent you from taking any LP damage since it cannot reference the monster's Atk, if it were non-targeting the monster, whose Atk is to be referenced, wouldn't be chosen until resolution.

Hey, for extra clarity on why DDWL doesn't target, it removes whatever monster it battles with, if you so choose, so ANY monster that it battles with that doesn't negate it will be effected, again, if you choose

I don't see the difference between DD lady and Cylinder.
You do not choose the target when you activate it in both case since it only affects the monster that attacks (or is attacked by DD lady).

I think UDE can make our life easyer if the put on the targeting cards text "select a card" or "choose a card", even the simple word "targeting" (like "flip") or something like that or even a symbol (like the equip, continuos, counter symbols), on the targeting cards or viceversa for the non-targeting cards. Not a list you have to consult to play them correctly. I know a lot of them has this text but not all. Those are the tricky ones
