LON-EN024 Fairy Box

By now you know that I adore the weird cards, the ones that have potential but hardly anyone plays in a competitive deck. Fairy Box fits that bill perfectly.

Go ahead, snicker, point, demean me....and go onto the next thread.

Now, for those of you who LOVE to annoy your opponent, make them uncertain, and make them tempt fate...read on.

Card # LON-EN024
Card Name Fairy Box
Card Type Trap
Is Counter No
Is Continuous Yes
Card Text
Each time a monster on your opponent's side of the field attacks, toss a coin and call Heads or Tails. If you call it right, the attacking monster's ATK becomes 0 only during the Battle Phase. Pay 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases. If you do not, this card is destroyed.

Rulings

1. If you have two copies of "Fairy Box" active on the field you may flip a coin twice, but only need to call 1 correctly to reduce the attacking monster's ATK to 0.

2. The current ATK is reduced to 0, including all Equip Spell Cards. Trap Cards and Quick-Play Spell Cards cannot further increase the monster's ATK this battle. A monster effect such as "Injection Fairy Lily" can increase its own ATK after "Fairy Box" is successful.

3. Paying 500 Life Points is optional, if you choose not to pay "Fairy Box" is destroyed.

4. The effect of "Fairy Box" does not target, so "Lord of D." will not prevent "Fairy Box" from reducing the ATK of an attacking Dragon-Type monster to 0.AST-014Stone Statue of the AxtecsAny Battle Damage your opponent takes when he/she attacks this monster is doubled.

Yeah, 500 lp a turn. <shrug> How many ways are there to make that up in the game these days? How many of you play Emergency Provisions?

Now consider this...

Your summon Dream Clown, set Fairy Box and Gravity Bind and end your turn.

Your opponent summons their Vampire Lord and your respond by activating Fairy Box. At this point your opponent has a very difficult decision to make!

<Best Clint Eastwood voice> Sooo...what's it gonna be? Do ya feel LUCKY punk?

Call it right and Vampire Lord's atk is reduced to 0, the the attack goes through and Vampire Lord is destroyed in battle and your opponent takes 1200 lp damage.....or, as a second response, Gravity Bind is activated and Dream Clown turns to defense on your turn clearning Vampire Lord out of the way for your newly summoned monster until next turn....when you can use Fairy Box again to deter his attack.

What's the most fun to have with Fairy Box? Why...Stone Statue of the Aztecs in defense position of course! You remember Stone Statue of the Aztecs don't you? It's sitting in your binder gathering dust....put it together with Fairy Box and DARE your opponent to attack!

Stone Statue of the Aztecs

Card Text:

Any Battle Damage your opponent takes when he/she attacks this monster is doubled.

Do the math!

If nothing else Fairy Box makes your opponent doubt themselves, it keeps them thinking about their chances rather than their game.

Remember that Fairy Box has a maintenance cost that is optional. Refuse to pay for it and away it goes or use Emergency Provisions to pay for two turns worth of fun it's given you!

Another possibility? Team up Fairy Box with Second Coin Toss :D

So, you've got a lucky coin right?

stone stutute deck?
might work, but what about all the s/t disruption in the game it wont b ez to pull off

well, you could use Fake Trap and Mask of Restrict to help that, but also try a Chance deck, with 2nd coin tosses, etc.

You know, I'm working on a Wall of Illusion deck and that would be some uber fun. Put Heart of Clear Water on Wall of Illusion for added protection, and then let them attack at Will (where's Will?). Then they potentially take 1850 damage, PLUS that newly tributed monster goes back to the hand. Even if I call it wrong, the monster still goes away 8^D What fun indeed! Maybe even make them suffer more by activating Staunch Defender and take a crack at them all! 8^D

I like using Fairy Box in my Cannon Soldier deck with Stone Statue of the Aztecs.

This way I can have Stone Statue as a blocker and potential lp damage while I get to my Cannon Soldiers and Scapegoats, Gravity Bind, Messenger, or Level Limit.

Once you tribute whatever you have on the field with Cannon Soldier he's out there like a sitting duck and your opponent knows it. They usually figure you're just keeping Cannon Soldier on the field as a blocker until next turn and that you expect him to be detroyed (after having popped them for 2000 effect damage with the Sheep tokens being tributed) Out comes Fairy Box and they have a difficult decision to make.

You can try Fairy Box with Limiter Removal too. I side deck Limiter Removals in my Cannon Soldier deck. Sometimes I'll bring them in and set a Limiter Removal and a Fair Box. Boost Cannon Soldier to 2800 atk and bring their attack to 0.

icecold-

I wouldn't center my deck around Stone Statue of the Aztecs but it's a very good ingredient in a direct damage deck.

I also mix them in with Swarm of Scarabs and Swarm of Locusts. It really makes your opponent think the first time they meet up with a face down Stone Statue of the Aztecs if they want to attack the next face down monster you set.

D.D. Warrior Lady HATES Stone Statue of the Aztecs. That's a good chunk of damage she takes before removing it....with Fairy Box D.D. Warrior Lady pays DEARLY.

John Danker - hey, i can't access your pic, it says i don't have sufficient priviledges...awww, shucks, i don't think i did anything bad.....

Not to worry...it's more my inability on the web. I'm not all too familiar with the working of attachments and such. I'm just going to delete it. I need to brush up on all the goodies I have access to.

dont worry John, youre not alone. i personally love Fairy Box and its a V E R Y annoying and powerful card. (just ask Marik in the GBA game... he uses it and it pains) i always say add stone statue with Fairy Box, and i mean, come on, if your opponent loses the coin toss twice, they lose. (2000x2 = 4000, usually is half of your opponents LP, if not more than half) put Fairy Boxes, stone statues, Amazoness Swords Woman, and Creature Swap in a good burn deck or something and OH the combos! maybe add after genocide for even more fun.
