Wii Revolution News!!!

Nintendo should keep digging that 6 foot grave. Nobody is going to want this. Cliche and tired out gimmick with the "ii" that at least Apple has done successful. This "we" gimmick, while it does encompass the broad spectrum of what this system is going to do, the name is just not a name that is appealing to the mass consumer. I honestly do not see grandparents playing a Revolution, but I could see them playing a "Wii" only if they buy into that whole gimmick, which unless they are as successful as Apple is with their "i" I do not see happening.

Nintendo must think "wii" are the champions and those other "wii-ners" do not understand that "wii" are here to stay. "Wii" are a family from now on.

This is a sad and disappointing turn of events, at least for me. THE REVOLUTION WAS AN AWESOME NAME! They should have kept that.

did i? when? great!
it's a terrible shame that they changed the name, but what can you do there not likely to change it back now after breaking the news on the official site!!!

True. But that won't stop scores of gamers from around the world from letting them know what an awful decision it was.

yes that is true first it was N5 then Revolution and now Wii defently the worst name out of the three!!!

Wii = Cute. that is all.

come on, nintendo's audience is kids and "Toys R Us" Kids :) so let nintendo do what they want, its their console, and you dont have to buy it if you dont want.

to me how i see it, is I will eventually get one, Play on it and have my joy.

PS3 and X360 can continue their war for all life and eternity. :)

Yes, because kids play Video Games on the basis of the name being cute. :haveaday_ Lets face it, some people were on the fence about whether they were going to buy one of these hings in the first place. Calling it Wii is just enough to push that portion of the consumer market in the opposite direction. When you make a product, you should give your consumer every and all consideration. Even something as innocuous as the name should be something that grabs their attention. Especially when the rumored name is already somewhat edgy. The name of your product is what is going to attract attention and represent your product. You'd be surprised how much a poor choice in name can hurt your marketing strategy. Let's hope the games are good enough to overcome the silliness. They'd have done better calling it the Dolphin.

And yet, i am reminded of another thread (not on this site mind you) that complained about the ipod when it was first announced saying it was uninnovative, stupid looking, and the worst idea Apple ever had.

Perhaps were all wrong. I can only hope. :lookaroun :weird_jed

hopefully the same thing will happen to the Wii as happened to the ipod at least for Nintendo's sake

theres nothing wrong wit hthe nintendo wii it'll be fine.
a gamecube or a playstation by any other name would still as good as they are.
a name doen't make console it's the games that make a console.
the main things in gaming are.

cost.
size.
playabillity.
enjoyment.
gameplay.
life spam.
and of course graphics.(but if the first lot are there do graphics really matter that much)
