Okay, so two Hydrogedons and an Oxygedon walk into a bar...

And the Hydrogedon says.... something?

Dang, and I thought I had something going there too...

Anyway, I was quite surprised to see that Hydrogedons and Oxygendons were Dinosaurs... I was expecting more Aquas, but it's good that the dinos get more monsters. Other than that, lots of new fiends and a super rare VWXYZ... I was expecting that to be an ultra rare, just to look good next to XYZ. And Jar of Avarice is nice too. ^_^

OMG, with FWoW from the structure deck this card becomes brutal.

EEN-JP016
Etoile Cyber
Earth/Warrior/4/1200/1600
When this card direct attack opponent, increase this card's attack strength by 600.

OMG, LV decks get a nasty boost, I can seriously see horus and Silent Lv 7 beign played way more often.

EEN-JP039
Level Tuning
Magic - Normal
Your opponent draw 2 cards. Choose a monster with [LV] in its name from your Graveyard,
special summon it and ignore the summoning condition. The monster special summon by this
effect cannot attack that turn.

if the effect stays the same come this november or when its released then that will be nasty.

Oxygedon
Water/Dino/4/1500/800
If this card is destroy as a result of battle from a Fire main-type monster, do 800 damages to both player.

I'm starting to wonder why they even bother.

I think Konami really need to look at the older cards before making new ones. The new cards have effects which are nice and have potential, but they just can't replace the current staples. Just seems to be heading all one way monsters difficult to summon and easy to destroy plus effects that are just plain too difficult to stop and have little or not cost to them. I think something they need to do is help single type decks far more, the rewards all seem to be in decks with no costs and no combos and literally broken effects.
I've always said this, effects that destroy cards should have a cost, cards like Smashing Ground, Nobleman of Crossout (which has a slight drawback but not much), Sakuretsu Armor, Bottomless Trap Hole, Ring of Destruction and Mirror Force are simply too powerful. But thats me.

The Elemental Energy set certain looks very interesting, they all seem to acquire the new cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh GX series which is good as it means people can build decks like their heros (no pun intended) and the Dark Realm cards certainly look useful. In the next sets though, why can't they focus on more underused cards, we already have enough Fiends, Machines, Warriors, Spellcasters, Water, Beasts and Dragons; lets see some based on Thunder Types, Plants, Dinosaurs, Reptile and Rock.

Im looking forward to V-Tiger and W-Catapult! to add to my XYZ deck. I doubt Ill Ever Summon, VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon. Now say it backwards.

Hmmm...first Pot doesn't show up in the most recent structures, then Jar of Avarice, a SEVERELY toned down Pot of Greed shows up in Elemental Energies...is Konami possibly hinting at a abnning of Pot in the near future? Could be...could be...

I'd dissagree. Konami being a japanese company plans very far in advance, although they are likely to make some last minute changes to their ban-list.

The fact that Pot of Greed was in the other 4 structure deck tells me it's not going to be bad.

I believe (by deduction) that Konami has a long-list of cards that can be banned. (some of those cards on the list haven't been banned yet, and won't be banned even the next ban list). No card on this list has been or will be released in this series of structure decks. (i think Card Destruction and Ring of Destruction are on this list)

Also, although the effect looks so close to "Pot of Greed" (and the name to), i find the actual use of the card to be more along the lines of the "non-broken" use of Graceful Charity. i.e. a late game opportunity to have a better chance of drawing a card to save you from a loss.

In reality, Pot of Greed is only a 2 for 1 with no other use. But Pot of Avarice allows the opportunity for some combos (a few have come to mind already). There might exist now or in the future some extremely powerful combos with this card, making Pot of Avarice more likely than Pot of Greed to be on the ban list.

I like this set. Especially the new fiends. I also like that Level recursion card, since my main deck's Horus these days.

This is a set I'm excited for, and I think the cards seem well designed at frist glance.

I can already see myself building a set using the Dark Realm cards, perhaps mixing them with the Jack, Queen, King Knight warriors for some fun.

Pot of Avarice is the "priced" Pot of Greed. It goes right along with the other "fixed" broken cards (Brain Control/Change of Heart, Raigeki/Lightning Vortex). I see few, if any combos that the price of Pot of Avarice provides. The only things I can see, are adding more targets for elemental searchers, putting back flip effects, putting back incorectly summoned "special summon only" monsters (Envoy much...hopefully that will be spending some time on Ban-time though...), and putting back the Tsukuyomi/Magician of Faith. Other than that, it is nothing but a penalty. Pot was ment to be a recovery engine, not something that can be played first turn to get unmatched advantage (sans Duo), and Pot of Avarice says "Hey, you better be darn long into the game or gotten a handful of monsters in order to use me. And you WON'T be recurring me for broken draws unless you run crazy mad amounts of monsters...but I do make a darn good lategame draw."

Plus, Konami isn't going to make anymore cards that are ban-worthy. Restriction worthy, yes (ie. Vortex) but not ban. The bannings were a way for Konami to cover their butts and say publically "We didn't quite understand the balance of power that some cards had, and were novices in card design. Please forgive us," without using so many words. Their still tampering with what deserves to be banned indefinetly (ahemahemENVOYPOTGRACEFULDELINQUENTahem) and what needs to come off (ahemahemCONFFYMIRAGEMAKYURAahem).

And yes, Konami is a Japanese company so DOES look far ahead when they plan something. I imagine that Elemental Energies was not designed in the week before this spoiler came out, and (if Yugioh is anything like M:tG in card design) they were working on it while we were still oggling The Creator at our prereleases. So, they may very well have planned to ban Pot this time around, and built a card that replaces it in the way THEY wanted it to be used: as a late game recovery card.

As for the set again...I REALLY like the H2O Dragon(s). I can see that thing being awfully popular in the casual circles, and driving combo-men mad in the tourney scene. Just the thining power of Hydragon (or whatever the name may be...) has massive potential. Think of it as a 1600 ATK Toon Table of Contents that can become REEEEAAAALLLLY big.

I like Pot of Avarice, actually. I think it's very useful looking. I also like Elemental Energy, except for the part where all four ultra rares are E-Heroes... v_v

If Konami bans some cards that I want to be banned, this set has a lot of potential...

I havenever seen it more elegantly put. I gotta give some props for that broham.

Only thing I seem to disagree on is the notion that Pot of Greed will ever be banned. I personally don't get it. It's the only card in the game that lets you cycle through your deck with no cost to it. But that cycle is only two cards worth. It's not a game breaker. Not anymore than any other card in the game could be. Shoot, Dice Jar is more of a game breaker than Pot of Greed ever could be. Its just dangerous to misfire with it. But Pot of Greed? I don't see the logic in banning it. I don't see the logic in banning a lot of stuff people have been suggesting getting banned. But it shall remain to eb seen.

Something I find really odd is that in the reprints, Konami have printed cards that will never see the light of day again (possibly). Cards like Yata Garasu and Imperial Order, unless they are considering Errata options for these cards which I think should really be in Konamis thought patterns.

and these are the cards that I noticed....

I like the look of the Dark Realm monsters. Not only do you have a couple of good low Level ATKers in the form of Knight Zulu and King Buron, but Buron also helps out the others with their effects. Attack with a Buron, do damage, discard another Dark Realm card, get its effect (either draw a card or get another monster out for more damage) and carry on from there. Plus we have Scout Scar as a searcher for them (Level 4 or lower, though).

And then to continue the theme we have Thunder of Dark Realm which handily doesn't have a cost (so it can get around Goblin of Greed). Then we also have a Quick-Play Monster Reborn for Dark Realm monsters in the form of Continuous Barrier Passage to Dark Realm. Want to get around the "can't Summon this turn" stipulation? It's a Quick-Play. Use it at the end of your opponent's turn. Troops of Darkness is also handy for getting back your Dark Realm monsters for another assault, at no cost.

Fusion Prohibited Area is certainly good against the E-Hero Decks. Sure, they've gotten a lot of support recently, but one of these means their most powerful monsters are out of luck.

Flame Majin - Hell Burner looks like a good monster to have in the right Deck. Throw out a Goblin Elite Force to block, then bring out the big guy. Question: if you only had Flame Majin in your hand, would you still be able to Tribute Summon him?

...And Two Party, One Loss gets rid of ONE card from each Deck, NOT five. No Trap Needle Worms here, I'm afraid.

Looks like a good Set to me.
