Stein Finally Banned!!!

Whether stein remains permenantly banned or not, the mechanic is relatively ok. 5000 LP is not a trivial cost. The problem (IMHO) was with just how easily stein was summoned or searched. Tomato, last will and sangan made it too easy. I would expect (eventually) a 'retrained' version, probably with nomi status or being otherwise harder to get out.

Of course, this would not be the first time I have been wrong :p

I'm not sure I can update RONIN from here properly, but I'll fire up the laptop and see if I brought enough with me.

If not, it will have to wait until the 26th :(

By the way, I find this trend of just up and banning cards in the middle of a cycle completely lame. It's not like Stein is NEW like Victory Dragon was.

At minimum, they should update the "effective" date to 1/1/2007 instead of leaving it at 9/1/2006.

Well, this is most suprising. I just read a few minutes that Cyber-Stein is now banned. And to think by pure coincidence that I got of Cyber-Stein out of my BEWD deck, because it got in the way of me having more Dragons for BESD and was way too costly. (5000 LP is not cheap)

You never know UDE/Konami may unban Cyber-Stein. What monsters are you likely to see Special Summoned by Cyber-Stein.
Well here's the answer:
BEUD
Cyber Twin Dragon (mostly oftenly used in tournaments, along with its big brother)
Cyber End Dragon

i hope it stays on the banned list along with BLS, CED beacuse it puts the game out of balance and I'm not saying that just beacuse I always lose to it when i not playing my otk deck but remeber when Chaos was around, and it was the only deck you see in jump tounments and regoinals helpfully when Konami make better cards to counter them then they should return to us with the game in balance..

It's fairly simple, the finals of a sjc is played. Despite the Game Designers unbanning "Ring of Destruction" to use against stein, it turns against them and ends up fueling "Cyber Stein". Then he wins sjc with two lucky opening hands, which comes out to be less than a page of a duel written on a screen. You can imagine the arrogance getting to the designers. It kinda reminds me of a citizen challenges their government, and their government firmly "taking care" of them.

Now I know I'm out of the Yugi loop, but this seems odd. UDE banning a card out of the regular list changing?? Thats wierd... I am glad to see him go though.
It's not odd. They immediately Banned Makyura the Destructor pretty much around the same time when he came out.

The Iowa regionals was a great deal more enjoyable this last weekend because of the ban on Cyberstien. A lot of close matches and people were trying out new themes....that's my defintion of a "fun" regional anyway.

I think Konami/UDE did a great thing put cyber-stien banned. It bring the game back into balance and gaves the a chace for new deck themes to be made. Maybe in the future Cyber-Stein will come back but it will be limated so it won't be so broken...

Well, even limited to 1, people were splashing a copy in and relying on Exiled and Last Will to search it out. It's just too dominant, and screws up the meta too much.

Well the problem is not with cyber-stien but it the problem with the banned list and the current meta. Few the past couple of meta's and banned list has always been more in favor of warrior beat down. Most all people play with cards like D.D's, Exiled Force, Reinforments of the army, cyber Dragon, Mobius the Frost Monarch, Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch. I'm not saying they should have banned it but limit down to 1 before banned it and try changing the current meta so you wouldn't have keep banneding cards that every plays with or it not to cheap to play with. I do agree with lots of stuff that on the banned list like monster reborn, yata and so on beacuse the where all limited at one point and the where still to powerful. In the end Banned Cyber-Stein is good but keeping it on the list could be bad in a long run becuase ask yourself whats the worth keep Cyber-stein or any card thats banned if you can never play them again.
