TER vs Fusilier

Here we go again..lol.

Why would it be 2800?

If "Fusilier" is summoned via it's effect, it will have an ORIGINAL ATK/DEF of 1400/1000. So when it get's 'absorbed' by "TER" it still has 1400/1000 ATK/DEF.

Why would it get 'reset'? As we already know, it's still 1400/1000 even in the Graveyard (per the Elemental Hero ruling).

Thanks.

There's 1 reason why I could see it being 2800 and that's because it was the effect of Fusilier that made him 1400. If Skill Drain is on the field, that change never happens. As such when Fusilier becomes an equip, it no longer has the "effect". This differs from the E-Hero ruling because even in the graveyard, Fusilier is still a monster. Granted, Cards aren't supposed to have effects in the GY, but Doriado does as well. Then again, Doriado would keep her 5 Attributes even if Skill Drain is on the field.

I believe converting it into an Equip would reset that.

I thought Fusilier's effect only applied while face-up on the field, and the Flame Wingman ruling was an inconsistency/bad wording.

Also, I figure the ATK would be 1400 when "absorbed" by Thousand-Eyes Restrict or Relinquished, since while it becomes an Equip Card its effect does indeed say the original ATK is halved (and would remain so for as long as the card remains face-up on the field, which would include while being a face-up Equip Card).

I have no official mechanics or anything to back that up. It's just what I think should be right.

TER counts the printed attack of the monster. It doesn't count any modifers. Say I had Abyss Solider on the field and Umi. You use TER's effect to take it. TER would be at 1800 because Abyss solider is no longer a monster affected by Umi. Same goes for Fussiler just a little different.

This question and answer is on the judge list if you search for dual mode beast:

Thousand-Eyes Restrict: modified ATK 2005-05-20 11:38:00 <Binh Nguyen>

When Thousand-Eyes Restrict uses its effect to "absorb" the opponent's monster, does Thousand-Eyes Restrict take on the current attack of the monster or the original/base attack of the monster?

For example:
Opponent has normal summoned Fusilier Dragon the Dual Mode Beast without tributes. Its strength is 1400/1000. I decide to "absorb" Fusilier Dragon the Dual Mode Beast. Does the ATK of Thousand-Eyes Restrict become 2800 or 1400?

Thanks for the reply!

B. Nguyen

Answer:

"Relinquished" and "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" ATK and DEF become the same amounts as the ATK and DEF printed on the equipped monster card.

"Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" would make their ATK become 2800.

Seems pretty clear that the attack would be 2800.

Well the answer to whether TER gains 2800 attack or 1400 attack is pretty easy to answer. The text on TER is what you should look at more closely. It says, "The ATK and DEF of this card become the same amounts as the monster equipped to this card." and that means the time that the monster is absorbed by TER's effect is the amounts it will gain for Attack and Defense. Not what's printed on the card.

That's just how I see it, I might see it differently than you guys but I'm not sure. I think the effect is referencing to the current attack and defense of the monster upon the use of TER's effect.

You're missing an important point here though. What is the card when it's equipted to TER? It's no longer a monster and it's effect text is erased. The only number that can be referenced with effect text gone is the printed atk and def. value.

Yes, I must have missed that very important piece of information. Thanks John. =/

Learn something every day and forget something the next. God, that's my problem now days..xD Just have to get these mechanics down and hopefully remember the difference. Like I got into an agruemnt with a Level 2 judge about Limiter Removal. I was thinking about Megamorph's ruling on the original attack is reset and that obviously doesn't apply to Limiter Removal.
