The CookieSlayer Collective

I want in... so as a "collective" do we "assimilate" the cookies? LOL Sorry, bad Trek joke. how about a "PacMan" looking Borg sphere about to chomp the cookie? lol

My Macro deck and my Zombie Mill are ready to join. They've consistently hit top 8 about 60% of my local tourneys.

I'd like to join, but I'm not at all active except in the sense that I dislike how people refuse to even consider a Deck type solely because it didn't win Nationals or something. I also prefer to rate Deck lists that are themed, and are not CC or similar.

I'm thinking of doing something like Dillie-O did with the Dark Monarchs site, and have an open section where anyone can join and a closed section for those who've had their applications accepted. This way we could get some input from players who may not necessarily want to join the Collective, but still support the group with deck rates and suggestions and the like.

A Cookie Slayer/Dark Monarch Alliance. I like it. I know anti-CC and anti-meta strategies are always strongly considered at the Lair. I rarely duel above the local level, but I am definately interested in the project. I run a Fiend deck (obviously :p ). Looking good, DJ.

i would definately support a CS/DM alliance. drop us a line over at the lair when you have your forum up and running. i will gladly throw in my non fiend ideas to your cause. they're starting to build up and get in the way of my evil scemes ;)

Just a speculation.....if one of our non cookie decks make a top 8 in lets say.......shonen jump, then after that wouldn't it be considered cookie? Which means that we couldn't play the deck anymore?

The Collective isn't forbidding members from playing CCs. It's simply bringing together people who don't care for seeing the same decks over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...well you get the idea. The objective of the CookieSlayers is to make new CCs. In fact, that statement might be a bit misleading. What we want to do is prove to the world meta, that it's not just a few decks that do it. It's a lot of decks that do it. And to prove that to a point where, CC begins to have less meaning then it had before, because even in a top tier tourney, players no longer know what to expect. Ambitious? You betcha'. :cool

Thanks, Dingo. I need to post some more at the Lair some more on this. Just haven't had a chance to collect my thoughts yet. :D

Just a brief update. After some intense discussion in the Lair of Dark Monarchs, this project is coming along swimmingly. Forums will be up soon, as well as as more fleshed out rules and member guidelines, along with an application process similar to what you would find at the lair.

Well guys, I love the idea. However, I can't join. Why? I promised myself and everyone else who has ever asked me to join an online team/clan that I will never join up with any other team (unless I'm an Honorary or Hall of Fame member or something to that extent). So basically, I can represent the team; but I will represent Team ICON first and foremost. The funny thing is that most of my teammates and I run non-CC-ish decks; bet you couldn't figure out that I did, eh? My friend Eddie (who is also a judge) created the team to get the STL meta on the map and also to try and get the best players in our area together to test out non-CC-ish decks. Then the team got split up because some of the guys thought theh team was too big, so they formed Team Betrayal. They are probably recognized as the best team in the STL right now, while we come a close second. However, we haven't had a true team battle yet. Why? Our team has never had our best players all together at the same time, and I don't want us losing due to our B team. Anyway, I love the idea and I hope you all stick to it.

It's alright, we'd understand, but I don't know if Jedi is looking for you as a team mascot. On another subject, I'd like that half cookie you have ASAP.

Hey Matt,

DJ set up the CSC to run parallel to your other 'real-world' teams. He is not asking you to switch allegiance to the Collective, just support the anti-CC cause. I look forward to seeing the fruit of the brainstorming sessions.

That's right, Dingo. Think of the Collective less as a Team, and more as a Movement. Many players don't have the venue to really explore their creative sides, and even fewer are encouraged to do so by their friends and/or people in their local meta. The CookieSlayer Collective will be designed to encourage that development, and that can only help any real world teams a player is already on.

On a battle field there are all kinds of soldiers and knights. These knights are basically what teams are. They form the basis for today's competitive meta.

In order for these knights to know which way to turn their horses and which direction to face, they need a battle plan. The Collective is not the battle plan per se, but rather the paper on which it is written.

All teams are welcome to participate, as long as they understand that the underlying goal of this Collective is to expand the range of decks that are commonly exploited in the competitive arena.

A team is meant to win. They may have additional goals, like was mentioned, of putting a certain area on the recognized gaming map, but the heart of it is that they want and need to win.

An organization is not directly concerned with winning. That is what the Collective (and the Lair) is about. It main objective is to alter thought and sway opinions. Winning is simply a byproduct of the real agenda.

I wish I had the time to join you, Ill lend my strength to the cause. The logo is cool also. I think the cooie needs a face.
