The CookieSlayer Collective

All i know is there better not be some idiots that go and decide to make a team called the cookie monster with the cookie monster as a logo that will try and make sure everyone uses nothing but cc decks in tournaments.

It's always a distinct possibility. I have enough faith in originality, though, to feel that CC can't stand up to it, when people are REALLY exploring the depths to what it can achieve. So far original deck types and the people who play them haven't had a chance to come together on a grand scale and explore them in depth, while CC has gotten to do this for years. Now that I think about, there already are groups out there that perpetuate the CC deck, so a team with the intention such as you describe, makes neither easier nor more difficult.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that some true gems will be unearthed in the process. CC is like a gold mine that miners have been mining for decades. After a while, the more you mine the fewer gems there are to be found. But originality is the rest of the world. Areas that have yet to be explored, and gems yet to be discovered. But if no one makes the effort to venture out of the old mine, then nothing new will ever be found.

For all those who don't feel that they can join:

Please don't rule it out altogether. You aren't being asked to do anything yet. ;) If you attend a local, Regional, or larger tournament, and you sympathize with the idea of the Collective, you are already halfway there.

Digital Jedi is creating the forum and agenda for the group. Your only necessary participation is something many of you already do: PLAY SOMETHING NON-CC.

You haven't been asked to pass out flyers or even go around voicing your allegiance to anything. Just begin to test the waters with something different. DJ might take a Fire deck to his local; Tiso would likely take his Water Dragon deck; Dark Monarchs would almost religiously run Fiends. Msw16 might run a variant of his now touted Gearfried deck.

If you like the idea of originality, but when it comes time for the tourney, you turn back to the Monarch Control, then its a little bit of a leap of faith. Just don't do it. Run something else. You may lose. You probably will too, UNTIL you get more familiar with using it in a competitive scene.

And that's it. By doing that you automatically align yourself with the Collective's goals.

That doesn't mean we are all Collective members automatically. We must wait for Digital Jedi to finish polishing up his magna carta. It may include a little more. But by that point you have already pushed yourself in the same direction.

But dont, please DonT, just say you cannot join. At least not yet. You may inadvertently influence other people who read this thread into also thinking that its too much to accomplish.

Its the Butterfly Effect, if you think about it. You breathe softly; Ill help you create the hurricane.

I don't think I've ever entered a tourney using a 'CC' deck... Never had the cards!!

I throw my two cents worth in, and support the collective ... this is where I'm at!

I look forward to some curious and awe-inspiring novelty coming out of this collective. Ingenuity leading to entertainment ... gotta be good!
