YGO Card Name Game

" Attack, ATTACK"

Maybe this means it can attack twice, or mulitiple times....
That wasn't the clue I gave. My clue had a full stop between the words, not a comma. It's important.

Mr. Cranium said:
I'm guessing we're still talking about the Lumberjack Song sketch. And since the guy who wanted to be a lumberjack had been a barber"¦
Was he? I thought he was someone else. I guess the sound clip I have of that sketch is from some kind of stage event, then. The dead parrot turns into the lumberjack song in "And Now For Something Completely Different", though, which is what I said I wasn't thinking of.

Hmm, that kinda ruins things a little. Let me think of another clue...

Everyone know Morecambe and Wise? Eric and Ernie? 'Course you do. They're fantastic. And I'm thinking of one of their signature bits (and it's not their insulting Des O'Connor).

EDIT: All guesses so far are wrong, by the way.

I'm still talking about that one same sketch, and no others.
I think you can ignore all this Monty Python stuff now, if what Mr Cranium has said is true. Bad information on my part. Sorry. Try my latest clue instead, or indeed go back to the first one.

Certainly are. There's your barber one, the parrot one, and the one I'm thinking of, at least. Problem is, I'm not sure which is the original one from the series. I think the clue is specific enough already without having everyone needing to know alternate versions of one sketch.

But relating to that...

It's hampered by Chaos Theory, and is extremely difficult to do. But that doesn't stop everyone complaining about the person who tells you the expected results when they're wrong.

but then again the "Des" clue leads me to believe that its most certainly a monster so id go with Des Lacooda.
:S

Wrong part of the clue, my friend. One of the long-running jokes these guys did was to make fun of the singing of a man named Des O'Connor.

ERNIE: I hear Des O'Connor is a self-made man.
ERIC: It's nice of him to take the blame...

Please note that isn't a clue. If it was a clue it'd be in italics. And it's not, so it's not. It's there just for information. It's the one new thing your learnt today, if you didn't know it already. Morecambe and Wise were the two funniest people alive. (Unfortunately they're dead now, and entertaining God with their Breakfast Sketch. Lucky guy.)

I'll just wait for the next one.............I give up here. I don't even feel like going back to look at all of the clues.

I also want to say that I am pretty sure this thread has become the LARGEST THREAD IN COG HISTORY. I haven't been a member from the beginning but with almost 3000 posts in one thread, I would go as far as to assume!

EDIT: And with very little suprise, Jason_C is at the top of the list with 530 posts, next Jathro with 299....

You won't wait long, I just need a bit more time
To count the syllables, and to pick my rhymes.

(Yes i'm sure its Weather Report)

Attack. ATTACK! Means to conduct your battle phase twice.

It was a Weather Forecaster who wanted to be a lumberjack for the "Monty Python Sings" album

And of course the last clue obviously talks about Weather Forecasting:

It's hampered by Chaos Theory, and is extremely difficult to do. But that doesn't stop everyone complaining about the person who tells you the expected results when they're wrong.

What I don't get is why Maruno said the period was irrelevant in the clue when I brought it up, but then later said it was relevant. He got me all confuzzled, he did. :confused_

Regardless, I quit. No way in heck can I stand up to DaGuy.

This was a really good riddle... really tough.... I really think DaGuy got it... if not... man... Maruno better make it obvious with the next hint... hahahha.. or else I am just going to make a link to the card registry and have that as my guess... hahahhahha

Daijoubu, daijoubu. Weather Report it is indeed. DaGuy (finally) wins.

And here's my explanations of my clues, as far as they go. DaGuy mentioned most of what's below already, but I'll add my thought processes (however lethal that may prove to be).

Maruno said:
Go, my pretties. Attack. ATTACK!
What exactly does this clue say? Remember I mentioned the first bit was irrelevant. There are two "attacks". There's a period there, so that's two separate attacks. You can't get attacks much more separate than in different Battle Phases. Who gives you two Battle Phases in a turn? Weather Report. Also, the clue sounds like the card is letting others attack twice.
And I didn't say the period was irrelevant. I specifically avoided mentioning it.

Maruno said:
Someone who desired to hack at things with an axe.
"Hack at things with an axe" = lumberjack. "Desired" = wanted. And the quote is, "I wanted to be... A LUMBERJACK!".

Maruno said:
Think of a synonym of "desired". And who tends to hack at things (note I haven't said people or monsters) with axes (although nowadays they tend to use much more advanced technology)?
Also, if you want another hint related to the quoted clue, what ideally do people with jobs (and I suppose by extension students (although I doubt you'd find one who follows this rule)) do during a 24-hour period?
"Desired" = wanted, as above.
Hacking at things (not people or monsters) = lumberjack, as above.
More advanced equipment - Well, you don't think lumberjacks still use axes, do you?
What do people with jobs do during a 24-hour period? "They sleep all night and they work all day." This is one of the lines from the Monty Python song. Ideally students should do this too, but I have yet to find one (and I'm at a University with 15,000 of them).

Maruno said:
The second clue, and all the hints thereof, are about the voice, but not spoken.
Yep, it's a song.

Maruno said:
So we're looking at a song and someone who wanted to hack at things with an axe (or other more modern equipment). You can fairly safely assume that the two are connected.

I suppose it would help if you'd seen that Monty Python sketch (the original one, not the "And Now For Something Completely Different" one).

How does it begin?
Blah blah blah. It (or at least, the one that I have the sound clip of on my computer) begins with some weatherman doing his thing, getting fed up of doing so, and stating that he "wanted to be... A LUMBERJACK!"

Maruno said:

I'm of course referring to their singing "Bring Me Sunshine" at the ends of their shows, which leads onto the weather thing.

Rain. Weather. 'Nuff said.

Maruno, that one was sweet man... its like it was SOOO obvious, yet the answer totally eluded all of us cuz you chose a card that is pretty much never used, let alone thought of.... nicely done.... I cant wait for DaGuy's hint... laterz

A Shakespearean sonnet:

  • Did Mister Winston Churchill help you find
A clue, a quote, direction where to look
Or how instead, to read the clue aligned?
Ask when the desert countries have been took.

For young writers this is simple homework
You might have written blank verse, though
All small lines, not iambic verse
One word only; each some info.

    Edgar authored many cryptic stories
    Sarah's an enigma to decipher
A challenge too lies here within like she
Read along and you will find the answer
Here, The riddle's answer that you covet
Is concealed within this puzzling sonnet.
