YGO Card Name Game

Perhaps you need to think about where this game is from to see where this round is going.

You could look at this two ways- first, the game is from Japan where it was derived from the anime. Second, taking from the anime, the game was invented in ancient Egypt.

I'm inclined to follow the second aspect but something strikes me as strange. "In the name of the moon, I'll punish you." I'm thinking the card has a FLIP effect that if flipped, has consequences attached. Maybe I'm thinking too abstractly.

I was looking through my cards seeing if I can find older cards that would fit nicely into a new ban list deck and came across this card....

Thinks it fits into the scheme of things but I guess I'll see soon enough....Maruno?

Mikazuki no yaiba, lit. Blade of the Crescent Moon.

"Crescent moon" is literally "in the name of the Moon". Sailor Moon's symbol (and the symbol for the Moon) is a crescent moon. And a blade can be seen as punishment.

The origin of the game is Japan, and Mikazukinoyaiba is Japanese.

I said this was simpler and more complicated than you might think, and perhaps you can see why. It's one of my favourite cards, because of the name.

It's funny what a word search in Netrep will do for you. As far as Maryokutai is concerned- not looking to put it into a deck, just looking at the card while I was going through all my other cards and saw the effect. It was along the "in the name of the moon" aspect of the clue. Activate Book of Moon, tribute Maryokutai to negate Book and targetted card remains face up.

Hmmm... a series of distractions.. well distractoins could mean

Magical Hats

or it could mean a series as in a chain of events... like several cards chained to one another then the final one in the chain finishes you off.... like

Distraction means they don't get to you.

Diverts damage to another monster of yours that isn't the attack target. Problem is that when you run out of other monsters, the attack target is left alone.
