Keep in mind that Icarus WANTED to fly. Sure he did (sorta), but Flying Kamikiri #1 already can.

I can't stress enough how 'shadowdragon' was on the right track with Fire Kraken. None of the other guesses have been on that track.

Alright. But I was thinking along the lines of that Grizzly clue. They say the lion gives the antelope its speed. So Mother Grizzly could conceivably speed up Flying Kamakiri #1 (1400 ATK) and then take it down.

But I suddenly realised I'm way off.

Hmmm...this will be the first time I've posted on this thread so I hope this is a good guess.

A grizzly gives it speed so...I'm guessing it would have to be a WATER monster for Mother Grizzly to work...

...Fire Kraken is on the right track...

...it wants to fly, like Icarus...

...and it can do something that no others of its kind can.

A WATER monster that wants to fly sounds kinda like a penguin. And Fire Kraken is a normal monster so...

Me too. But I thought the same thing about Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness. Which I still say satisfied the original clue perfectly. Oh well...

Well, penguins in general can't fly although they are birds which, in general, can fly. The original clue said something to the effect of I can do something others of my kind can't, and Flying Penguin happens to be a penguin that can fly.

That reminds me, the other part of the original clue said something about being hungry and calamari. I remember a guy here whos user name was "Squid" (i. e. calamari) that used Flying Penguin as his avatar. Maybe that has something to do with it too.

Not true. According to Greek mythology, Icarus did indeed fly. However, he flew too high, causing his wax wings to melt from the sun's heat.
