YGO Card Reviews & Tips

This board is for everyone to put in their 2¢ in on cards. Please read the rules before posting.
Of all the cards in today's game, this has to be my favourite. Why? Well, here's the main reason: If this face-up card on your side of the field is removed from play, this card is Special Summoned to the owner's side of the field during the End Phase. D.D. monsters, you hate 'em or love 'em. In the beginning, when I attacked a face-down D. D. Warrior Lady (or D. D. Assailant), I thought to myself "Ugh, not again?" and usually see both monsters removed from play. Then the TLM boosters came out and inside it was my rescue: D. D. Survivor. When this card is removed, it comes back. Simply amazing. Now when I attack a face-down D. D. Warrior Lady or D. D. Assailant, I don't have to worry. Plus, it's a Dark monster (removable for...
Welcome to today's Card of the Day, Kycoo. Kycoo is another one of those cards that saw a lot of tech play during Nationals. I'll tell you right now "“ I'm a bit biased when it comes to Kycoo seeing as how he is one of my favorite cards. Nevertheless, I'll expose his weaknesses too. Let's start with his main effect. You know, the part where your opponent can't mess with taking cards out of the Graveyard from play? Yeah, that's the reason he saw so much play; anti-BLS is fine with everyone. Not only does Kycoo prevent BLS's summon, he also prevents Book of Life from activating as well, all assuming he was on the field before the cards activated. Heck, he also prevents Bazoo the Soul-Eater and all of the other LON Out-Of-Play-Madness...
King Tiger Wanghu Effect Monster (Beast / EARTH / 4 Stars / ATK 1700 / DEF 1000) As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all monsters with an ATK equal to 1400 or less that are Normal Summoned or Special Summoned (excluding Flip Summon) are automatically destroyed. "¢ Monsters with ATK 1400 or less that are already on the field when "King Tiger Wanghu" is Summoned are not destroyed. "King Tiger Wanghu"'s effect only applies to monsters Summoned while it is face-up on the field. "¢ When a monster is Flip Summoned or flipped face-up by a card effect, it is not destroyed by the effect of "King Tiger Wanghu". "¢ "King Tiger Wanghu"'s effect applies to both sides of the field. "¢ When "King Tiger Wanghu" is Special Summoned...
Royal Command Continuous Trap Negate the activation and effects of all Flip Effect monsters' effects. "¢ This card can be chained to the activation of a Flip Effect from a Flip Summon to negate the Flip Effect. It cannot be activated during the Damage Step, so if a Flip Effect Monster is flipped face-up when attacked you cannot chain "Royal Command" to negate its Flip Effect. "¢ If "Royal Command" is active on the field both players may still Flip Summon monsters, but any Flip Effects are negated. "¢ [Re: Amplifier] If you have "Jinzo with Amplifier", your Trap Cards are not negated and their effects are applied, including "Aqua Chorus", "Royal Command", "Royal Oppression", "Coffin Seller", "Forced Requisition", "Mirror Wall"...
Gravekeeper's Guard Effect Monster (Spellcaster / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1000 / DEF 1900) FLIP: Return 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field to its owner's hand. Gravekeeper's Spy Effect Monster (Spellcaster / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1200 / DEF 2000) FLIP: Special Summon 1 Monster Card that includes "Gravekeeper's" in its card name with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck. "¢ You can select a Gravekeeper whose ATK would be higher than 1500 after being Summoned. For example, if "Necrovalley" is in play, you can use "Gravekeeper's Spy" to Special Summon another "Gravekeeper's Spy", even though its ATK will be 1700 once it is on the field. These 2 cards have gotten new popularity outside of Gravekeeper decks due to Max...
Wave-Motion Cannon Continuous Spell Send this card on the field to the Graveyard during your Main Phase. Inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the number of your Standby Phases that have passed after this card's activation x 1000 points. "¢ Sending "Wave-Motion Cannon" to the Graveyard is a cost, so when you send it to the Graveyard, it's too late for your opponent to chain "Mystical Space Typhoon", etc., to destroy "Wave-Motion Cannon", because "Wave-Motion Cannon" is already in the Graveyard. "¢ Your opponent cannot chain "Magic Jammer", or use "Dark Paladin", etc., when you send "Wave-Motion Cannon" from the field to the Graveyard. Your opponent CAN chain "Magic Jammer" or use "Dark Paladin", etc., when you first...
Magic Cylinder is today's Card of the day. Card # IOC-SE2 Card Name Magic Cylinder Card Type Trap Is Counter No Is Continuous No Card Text Negate the attack of 1 of your opponent's monsters and inflict damage equal to the attacking monster's ATK to your opponent's Life Points RULINGS: The effect of "Magic Cylinder" negates the attack of one attacking monster, but that monster is still considered to have attacked and may not attack again or have its Battle Position manually changed. Monsters that may attack twice during the Battle Phase, such as "Hayabusa Knight", that have their first attack negated by the effect of "Magic Cylinder" may still make a second attack. If the attack of...
Cannon Soldier Effect Monster (Machine / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1400 / DEF 1300) Tribute 1 monster on your side of the field to inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. "¢ [Re: Barrel Behind the Door] You can activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against Ignition Effects like "Cannon Soldier", "Catapult Turtle", "The Agent of Judgment - Saturn", and "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End". "¢ [Re: Enemy Controller] When the Ignition Effect of "Cannon Soldier" or "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End" is activated, and you chain "Enemy Controller" to take control of the "Cannon Soldier"/"Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End", even if you take control of the monster, you cannot take control of the effect itself...
Mystic Swordsman LV2 Effect Monster (Warrior / EARTH / 2 Stars / ATK 900 / DEF 0) If this card attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, destroy the monster immediately with this card's effect without flipping it face-up or applying damage calculation. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Mystic Swordsman LV4" from your hand or Deck. "¢ If "Mystic Swordsman LV2" attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, that monster is destroyed by "Mystic Swordsman LV2"'s effect, not as a result of battle. So you cannot use its second effect to Special Summon "Mystic Swordsman LV4" during the End Phase. "¢ If a level monster fulfills its...
Well, it's being confirmed on all of the sites that Panther Warrior is the 2nd New Tin aside from Gilford the Lightning. This is an unusual card. Great Attack strength, hindered effect. Panther Warrior Earth, Beast-Warrior 2000 ATK/ ? Def (notsure) Effect- In order for this monster to attack you must tribute off one monster. (paraphrased) Now, do you think this monster is playable?? Some say it is better to play Berserk Gorilla....although he gets hit hard from Enemy Controller. Panther Warrior works well with Scapegoats...or are you waiting for the Indomitable Fighter Lei Lei from Cybernetic Revolution which is a beast-warrior version of Goblin Attack force (Stats and effect)....???????
anybody remember using this card? shes a preaty weak 4 star, but what would happen if we saw what she trully was. then we could easily pop her into an Elemental use deck and have her as the key card to pump up some of the crazy effect monster that can now eithe become 2000atk and negate effect or cant be controlled and do double attack. the card it self is easy to summon. and in the correct deck can be very usefull. Yes its true its a ritual and can only be summoned through Dryads prayer. but the 3 star can easily be summoned by just tossing out any old 3 and above. so a 1 sac for a monster that can possibly be usefull to use Elemental Burst is preaty darn good. you can if you want use the Sonic Bird and so forth to try...
As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, when Beast, Beast-Warrior and Winged Beast-Type monsters on your side of the field attack with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points. Rulings For "Enraged Battle Ox"'s effect to activate, the attacked monster must be in Defense Position during damage calculation. So if "Final Attack Orders" is active, "Enraged Battle Ox"'s effect will not be applied. [Re: Last Turn] The effect that reduces Battle Damage to zero applies only for the special Battle Phase, not for the normal Battle Phase. Example: A player activates "Last Turn" and selects their Defense Position...
Today's Card of the Day for Saturday, July 16th, 2005 is Elephant Statue of Disaster, a common from Ancient Sanctuary. It's gotten some use lately after probably being thrown into many shoeboxes when it first came out. So why use it now? Well hey, that's what I'm here for. Really, no one is using it for it's stats. Ok, 3 Stars and 1500 ATK gets under all forms of stall, and EARTH has lots of support while Rock has recently added some support as well. An EARTH rush deck could be conceivable here, but it's effect is why it's used. "When this card is sent directly from your hand to the Graveyard by an effect of a card controlled by your opponent, inflict 2000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points." "by an effect of a...
convulsion of nature continous spell as long as this card remains face-up onthe field, both players must turn their respective decks upside down and continue the current duel. i think this card can work in an reversal quiz otk deck [you see what type to pick] and it let's you see what your oppenent draws. i give it a 3/5 because of it's versitily and silliness.
What is duelist take on this card. I find it to be quite useful in today's playing style since like every one runs black lustor soldier EOTB, and many people also run scape goats that can be used as tribute for the card. I run a lot of traps in one of my decks and I like to use it to stop Jinzo, Vampire Lord, Phoenix and BLS to stop the chance for his effect to remove a monster from play. any thoughs????
Card # IOC-052 Card Name Chain Disappearance Card Type Trap Is Counter No Is Continuous No Card Text You can only activate this card when a monster with an ATK of 1000 or less is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or Special Summoned. Remove the monster from play and your opponent removes all monsters of the same name in his/her hand and Deck from play. His/her Deck is then shuffled. Rulings You can activate "Chain Disappearance" in response to your own Summon of a monster, in which case your opponent still removes all cards with that name from his hand and Deck. If you use "Chain Disappearance" in response to a Flip Summon, any Flip Effects like "Penguin Soldier" would still resolve. The Flip Effect is Step 1 of...
Statue of the Wicked is one my favorites that came from one of the old sets. At first hand, this card appears to be a waste of room, but to many it can help out in a tight spot. Statue of the Wicked is one of many cards that are underrated and not seen for their potential for what it can actually accomplish First things first, SotW can fit into any # of decks, since its effect activates in the graveyard, even if Jinzo or Royal Decree are out, it allows the user to still get a token. Another thing that is overlooked is that the tokens stats arent that bad, 1000atk; 100def. Futhermore, the reason i love this card is the fact the even on the turn you set them, you can get the tokens [if the card(s) were destroyed], and did i mention they...
Ceasefire Normal Trap Flip all face-down Defense Position monsters on the field face-up. Flip Effects are not activated at this time. Inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points for each Effect Monster on the field. Ah an oldie-but-goodie. Under-used, under-appreciated. Not the best topdeck, especially in the early game. Man has this card come roaring back these days. In a meta where flip effect monsters (especially Magician of Faith) have become highly playable, this is one of your best solutions to fight against it. Not only will it flip all monsters face up (and not activate flip effects), it inflicts 500 damage per effect monster on the field. Given that the majority of monsters people run are effect monsters...
Surprisingly I didn't see a thread about this card yet. So here we go: The "Spirit Reaper of Dragons" this card has the ability to withstand attacks from some of the mediocre hittters. Unfortunatly he has one of the lowest ATKs, if not THE lowest ATK of any five star monsters I've seen. But does that make him all bad? The fact that he is invulnerable to non-targeting Spell and Trap Cards makes his usefulnes a bit more agreeable. Some cards that won't destroy Different Dimension Dragon include: Bottomless Trap Hole Raigeki Fissure Mirror Force Torrential Tribute Hammer Shot Smashing Ground I've been considering running one of him in my own Jank Deck just for his invulnerabiltiy to these kinds of effects. But that ability to...
Here's a card I've been contemplating, it's got quite a nifty effect, allowing 3 direct attacks to your opponent's life points. It's got draw backs, first it doesn't work on effect monsters, so you can't use monsters with effects that would easily get three out, or allow for multiple attacks, or something like that And you need three of the same monster, which isn't easily done (especialy if you want to use 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons) Though there are some fun combos to go with it, first of all, there's Ultimate Offering which can help you get 3 of the same normal monster out, as long as it's worth the thousand life points (if you can use Ultimate Offering for 2 extra summons in one turn, that is) Then there's Mokey Mokey King! when...
