YGO Card Reviews & Tips

This board is for everyone to put in their 2¢ in on cards. Please read the rules before posting.
Element Doom Effect Monster (Fiend / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1500 / DEF 1200) This monster gets the following effect(s) while there is a monster(s) with the following Attribute(s) on the field: "¢ EARTH: Negate the effect of an Effect Monster that is destroyed by this monster as a result of battle. "¢ WIND: If this card destroyed your opponent's monster as a result of battle, it can attack once again in a row. Alright, more Fiends. I believe that this is a fairly decent Element monster to be a fiend, because you have good fiends that are Wind (Slate Warrior). There aren't as many good earth fiends (Headless Knight and Earthbound Spirit come to mind immediately) Anyway, this card has potential, especially with Doriado coming out, um...
The Puppet Magic of Dark Ruler Normal Spell Select 1 Fiend-Type monster from your Graveyard. Remove monsters on your side of the field from play whose total Level Stars exactly equal the Level of the selected Fiend-Type monster. Then Special Summon the selected monster from your Graveyard. "¢ Removing monsters on your side of the field from play is not a cost, so the opponent must decide if they want to chain before you select which monsters are to be removed. If they chain a card that negates the effect of "The Puppet Magic of Dark Ruler" you do not remove any monsters. "¢ Face-down monsters may be removed from your side of the field. Archfiendgeneral, no worries, I gotcha today. Ahh, who said fiends didn't have enough recursion...
Greets, all. I've been asked to do a couple card reviews for today and tomorrow, so here are some tidbits I've pulled from some archives to help you out. Card Name: Byser Shock Sources: PGD-103 (Ultra Rare), DR1-EN052 (Ultra Rare) Stats: Effect Monster / Fiend / DARK / 5 Stars / ATK 800 / DEF 600 Text: When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, return all Set cards on the field to their owner's respective hands. Rulings: You can chain against the effect of "Byser Shock". A Trap Card like "Ceasefire" that is chained to the activation of "Byser Shock"'s effect is not returned to the hand. Comments: Why do so many fiend players run this guy? He's level 5, 800 ATK and 600 DEF!!! What good...
One of the buzz words in the game of Yugioh right now is "Tech" What this word equates to in the game of Yugioh is the use of key cards that often uniquely support a deck theme or to prevent a deck theme from being successful. One of the more popular "tech" cards as of late is Soul Exchange which supports the highly netdecked Monarch or Soul Control deck. Other recent popular tech cards are A Feather of the Phoenix and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. The subject of my card review today, Narrow Pass, is another seldom used card that could reek havoc in the right deck. As I'm sure you've experienced, there are a great many field control cards that rid the field on one or both sides of monsters. Narrow Pass is a continuous trap card that...
Soul Demolition Continuous Trap You can activate this card's effect only when you have a Fiend-Type monster on your side of the field. You must pay 500 Life Points to use this effect. Both players select 1 Monster Card from their opponent's Graveyard and remove them from play. "¢ If either player has no monsters in their Graveyard, the effect of this card cannot be activated. "¢ If "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" is on the field, the effect of this card cannot be activated. "¢ Paying 500 Life Points is a cost. "¢ You must select the monster in the Graveyard you wish to target when you activate this card's effect. You select before the opponent does. After you select the opponent may chain, with a card like "Dust Tornado", to destroy...
Maybe a slight exageration on that, but definatly food for thought. The new set, The Lost Millenium introduces a power house card rivaling the effect of Ring of Destruction, Nitro Unit A potentially crippling and life winning card when used in the right way, this could become potentially a third equip spell card in cookie cutter decks. 'Three' I hear you all cry, yes three, a lot of people have forgotten about the other 2; or maybe not. A lot of decks all use Premature Burial and Snatch Steal (although we might see less of Snatch Steal with Brain Control round the corner as well) and even then they don't power up monster cards like Axe of Despair does, they are still equip cards. Now let me reintroduce you to Arsenal Robber...
The Sanctuary in the Sky Field Spell Battle Damage to the controller of a Fairy-Type monster from a battle involving that Fairy-Type monster becomes 0. A slightly underrated Field Spell. It's great in Fairy decks to protect you from taking damage, but where it really shines is with 3 monsters that can really take advantage of the card: "Archlord Zerato" (you can get a "Raigeki" affect), "The Agent of Force - Mars" (a 3 Star with huge beatstick potential), and "The Agent of Judgment - Saturn" (whose effect can inflict massive damage, ending the duel early). Moreso than most Field Spells, this one needs a deck to be built around it to take advantage of the card. However, given how under-utilized this particular theme is, you can...
Kuriboh Effect Monster (Fiend / DARK / 1 Star / ATK 300 / DEF 200) Discard this card from your hand. Make the Battle Damage inflicted to your Life Points by 1 of your opponent's monsters 0. You can only use this effect during your opponent's Battle Phase. Back from a mini-vacation (though from the looks of things, it appears plenty of other people kept filling in new cards so it doesn't look like we were missed all that much). This week we take another look at some lesser played Fiend cards and those that support them. First up, Kuriboh! Ok, noone plays with Kuriboh because of his stats. You play him so you can reduce any damage to you from 1 of your opponent's monster in battle to 0. Now Kuriboh won't protect your monster if...
Elemental Master - Dryad Light 3 Stars ATK/1200 DEF/1400 [Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect] This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Dryad's Prayer". You must also offer monsters whose total Level Stars equal 3 or more as a Tribute from the field or your hand. The Attribute of this card is treated as WIND, WATER, FIRE, and EARTH. It's nice card when come to elemental deck. However, it's a ritual monster. Two things you want to know about ritual. First, you can't play it without either ritual monster or ritual spell card. Second, It consider special summon, so it's an extra summon from normal summon. It's 3 Stars monster, so you don't have to sacrifice many cards except for one elemental monster (Element Doom...
The rules never said we couldn't post Jap cards. Magician of Fire Spirit - Heater FIRE/3/500 ATK / 1500 DEF [Spellcaster/Effect] FLIP: Take control of 1 face-up FIRE monster on your opponent's side of the field as long as this cards remains face-up on the field. Slap a scroll of bewitchment on your opponent's monster and go crazy. =D
Hierako Sphinx Earth 6 Stars ATK/2400 DEF/1200 [Rock/Effect] As long as this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot select a face-down Defense Position monster on your side of the field as an attack target. Well, well, Will you look at that? It's kind of another Patrician of Darkness. The funny is it get stronger. 2400 Attack point and lv 6, it equal to Jinzo (yum, beatstick). Very nice to combine with Golem Sentry and Guardian Sphinx. Also, I think you want to know that Golem Sentry and Guardian Sphinx are rock monsters and this card is also rock monster. All of them could play in a rock-base deck. Of course, when you run a theme based on type, it's easy to get destroy by Tribe-Infecting Virus which is now...
Dark Factory of Mass Production Normal Spell Select 2 Normal Monsters from your Graveyard and add them to your hand. "¢ You select the 2 Normal Monsters when you activate "Dark Factory of Mass Production". "¢ This card targets 2 monsters. "¢ If your opponent chains an effect like "Disappear" to remove 1 of the 2 selected monsters from your Graveyard, you still add the remaining Normal Monster to your hand. alright, my thoughts as to prime uses for this card: 1) Exodia decks 2) B. Skull decks 3) Red-Eyes decks 4) XYZ decks (lightly) 5) NSA decks 6) TMCB swarm decks anyway, that's all, sorry, swamped Overall: 3.75/5 -chaosruler
- The best breakthrough stall card for burn/life point eating/life point recovery decks, atleast in my opinion. - Changes position of all face up monster of Level 4 or higher to DEF mode.... how annoying is that?  :x - The effect is continuous and the best part is that maintaining the effect of Level Limit - Area B  is FREE, no costs to maintain..... how annoying is that?  :x - Wouldn't be that bad in any other deck besides burn/life point eating decks just incase your opponent has control of the match. - A spell card that pretty much renders Jinzo useless for awhile, unlike Gravity Binds. - Berserk Gorilla killer I guess.... lol - This card pretty much.... explains itself. A definate must have in stall/burn and decks as such.
The Flute of Summoning Dragon Normal Spell You can only activate this card when "Lord of D." is face-up on the field. Special Summon up to 2 Dragon-Type monsters from your hand to your side of the field. And here's the other half of the combo we were mentioning yesterday. The nice thing is that "Lord of D." does not need to be on your side of the field, just on the field in order to use this card. You can bring out 1 or 2 Dragon-Type monsters with this spell card (unless it has a special summoning requirement). It's the easiest way to bring out 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to the field, though the chances on having 2 in your hand to start with are slim. However for a dedicated Dragon deck, the old combo still works well enough.
Gyaku-Gire Panda Earth ... Beast 800/1600 Effect "The ATK of this card increases by 500 points for every monster on your opponent's side of the field. When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points." OK, all I have to say is this is a pretty awesome card. Cyber Jar? hurts them and then opponent put out his monsters.... (better if you got him after the effect though)... .... Swarming Warrior Decks??? go ahead and swarm... Opponent used Scapegoats or You used Ojama Trio??? Oh ya.... you get the Idea. This is a card that wins tournaments (at least for me).. I think Panda has to...
( is there a proper way to review a card? ) I just wanted to say Asura Priest is the man. Here's a wierd combo (super hard to pull, let alone having the right card or even incorporating one) Opponent side of the field: Sacred Phoenix, Jinzo, Airknight. you: nothing. Play Level Limit Area B (can't play Zero or Windstorm because of jinzo). Turning all your opponent monster to def. Play heavy Storm. Send in Asura Priest to finish the job. or play Stumbling so when they summon Jinzo or Phoenix, they'll go in Def. Then flip your Asura to finish the job. (another super hard to pull stunt )
Can someone tell me which booster set, Chiron the Mage is in?
Chaosrider Gustaph is a monster you've probably not seen much if any at all in play either tournament or casual. If you love building decks that have an imaginative flare though it's most certainly worth a second look. For the player who is only concerned about playability in a deck they already have the bottom line is that Chaosride Gustaph can boost it's attack to 2000 each turn providing you have the spell cards in your graveyard to pay the cost. A 2000 atk isn't anything to scoff at in and of itself. With that atk power it can stand nose to nose with Berserk Gorrila. The last important factor to look at for a player who may want to incorporate Chaosrider Gustaph into a deck they already play is that this monster is a Warrior...
Disappear Normal Trap Select 1 card from your opponent's Graveyard and remove it from play. "¢ When a card that selects a card in the Graveyard as a target, such as "Monster Reborn", "Mask of Darkness", "Magician of Faith", "Spear Cretin", or "The Shallow Grave", is activated, you may chain "Disappear" to remove the targeted card from play, and the "Monster Reborn", etc., will resolve without effect. This is because these cards select their target at activation, not resolution. "¢ "Bazoo the Soul Eater" removes a monster in the Graveyard as a cost, so you cannot chain "Disappear" to the effect of "Bazoo the Soul Eater" to negate it. The monster is already removed from play before you can activate "Disappear". "¢ If you chain...
D. D. Borderline Continuous Spell When there are no Spell Cards in your Graveyard, neither player can conduct their Battle Phase. Alright, there are no rulings for this card. I think that this card, when combined with support like Chaosrider Gustaph and Banisher of the Light, makes for a very powerful stall card. Anyway, that's about it, because I absolutely have too mush to do today. ;) Overall: 4.75/5 In the right deck -chaosruler
