YGO Card Reviews & Tips

This board is for everyone to put in their 2¢ in on cards. Please read the rules before posting.
Paladin of White Dragon Ritual Monster (Dragon / LIGHT / 4 Stars / ATK 1900 / DEF 1200) This monster can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "White Dragon Ritual." You must also Tribute monsters whose total Levels equal 4 or more from the field or your hand. When this monster attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, destroy the face-down monster with this card's effect. You can Tribute this card to Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand or your Deck. ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cannot attack during that turn.) Ritual monsters get a bad rap because it requires 3 cards minimum to bring 1 out (the monster itself, the spell card to summon him, and the tribute material). As far as they go though...
Kaibaman Effect Monster (Warrior / LIGHT / 3 Stars / ATK 200 / DEF 700) Tribute this card to Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand. The effect says it all for its one purpose. Tribute him to bring out "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand. Unless you're running 3 of both, you won't have the best of odds to make that happen (this is what gives "Paladin of White Dragon" an edge in this context). However, in a BEWD deck, this is about the easiest way to get him out in 1 turn without over-utilizing many cards in order to do so. Plus, being as it's the first "name character" card to come out in the US, it just gives another reason why Kaiba is the man after all. :)
I have a question about Book Of Moon. If my friend activate Ring Of Destruction and then I activate Book Of Moon. Does the effect of Ring Of Destruction still resolves? Me and my friend been fighting over this.
Thunder Crash Normal Spell Destroy all monsters on your side of the field. Inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the number of monsters destroyed x 300 points. This card, IMO, is underrated side deck material. Against a Burn/Lock deck, this can clear up some much needed space. That's the main use I see for it. Side deck material, pure and simple. Overall, a 3.63/5 (dunno how i got the .65, lol) -chaosruler
Behemoth the King of All Animals Effect Monster (Beast / EARTH / 7 Stars / ATK 2700 / DEF 1500) This card can be Normal Summoned or Set with 1 Tribute Monster. In that case, the original ATK of this card becomes 2000. When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can return from your Graveyard to the owner's hand a number of Beast-Type monsters equal to the number of Tributed monsters. This is certainly an "upgrade" over the last "King" of Beasts of sorts ("Gazelle"?) His summoning effect is similar to "Fusilier Dragon" in that you don't need 2 tributes to get him out (though you'll still need at least 1). Further, the stats aren't great but still decent. The effect though makes him very useful in a Beast-themed deck. The...
Rescue Cat Effect Monster (Beast / EARTH / 4 Stars / ATK 300 / DEF 100) Send this face-up card on your side of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monsters from your Deck to the field. The monsters Special Summoned in this way are destroyed during the End Phase. Ah, the other cute kitty cat. :) His effect will combo well with Maji-Gire Panda (coming later this week). It also works nicely as a deck thinner. It can also combo well with cards that work with the number of monsters on the field. It also has great combos with "Ultimate Offering" when you want an easy way to bring out a 2-Tribute Monster. "Rescue Cat" by itself isn't that great, but building around it can give you an edge esp. when...
Type: Continuous Trap Text: Each player must send monsters from his/her side of the field to the Graveyard so taht he/she only controls 1 Type of face-up   monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each player can only Summon or control 1 type of face-up monster at a time. An often overlooked card, Rivalry of Warlords is a fantastically useful card in today's game. With Beatdown, Burn, and Scapegoats running amuck in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!, this card could be the key to giving your deck the extra edge during close duels, especially those of us running type decks (i.e. Warriors, Spellcasters, etc.). What makes this card so useful is its versatility. It limits your opponents options, which is ALWAYS a good thing...
Chu-Ske the Mouse Fighter Normal Monster (Beast / EARTH / 3 Stars / ATK 1200 / DEF 0) A fiery mouse, travelling the world to become the strongest fighter in the world of mice. Be careful not to touch him, or you will get burned. Fear one of the most powerful beasts in the game! Chu-Ske's dedication to his craft will often bring certain victory to you. He combo's very well with "Rescue Cat" (seems like everything does) and can slip under "Messenger of Peace", "Gravity Bind", and "Level Limit - Area B" though his use of stealth and dexterity. Players will shake in fear when this lethal powerhouse hits the field. A great card to use.
Enraged Battle Ox Effect Monster (Beast-Warrior / EARTH / 4 Stars / ATK 1700 / DEF 1000) As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, when Beast, Beast-Warrior and Winged Beast-Type monsters on your side of the field attack with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points. As we get ready to leave the jungle, we take a look at one of the best Beast supporters. "Enraged Battle Ox" gives a trample effect for all your Beast-based type monsters (including himself). Plus at 1700, it's enough to hold his own against most non-tribute, non-heavy beatdown monsters (the 1800+). A very solid card in this themed deck...
When you activate this card, change all monsters on your opponent's side of the field to face-down Defense Position. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, monsters on your opponent's side of the field cannot change their Battle Positions. Destroy this card during your 2nd Standby Phase after activation. i haddent seen this card on the boards yet, so i thought i would post it. I have alrdy put one in my deck. and i find it to be a huge game "reverser" now people look at it and say they would prefer the original swords, well SORL and SOCL, are both extreamly powerful, SORL-Exposes your opponits monster and prevents your opponit from attacking. SOCL-Flips all your opponits monsters face down, which would cribble...
Getsu Fuhma Dark/4/atk1700/def1200 [Warrior/Effect] If a monster that battles with this monster is a Fiend or Zombie-Type monster, destroy that monster at the end of the Damage Step. This card is no short of being great. The effect is decent too. Maybe some of you are in a local area of the masses of Fiend and Zombie decks types. These typical types of decks have alot of support, maybe too much support to it if you ask me... :) Lets take a look at this card shall we? You've got a Dark, 4 Star, 1700 attacker here and not to mention it's a Warrior type monster. The Dark attribute is a plus, Chaos-food. Is able to be searched by Reinforcement of the Army. Now, let's view it's defense... def of 1200... hmmm not very impressive :(...
Scapegoat Quick-Play Spell When this card is activated, you cannot summon any monster in the same turn (including Flip Summon and Special Summon). Place 4 "Sheep Tokens" (Beast-Type/EARTH/1 Star/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position on your side of the field. The tokens cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon. So we conclude the Quick-Play Spell week (I'm sure you all figured that out anyway) with one of the most common ones these days. Great stall, great defense, and while you can't use the tokens for tribute summons, you can use them for "Cannon Soldier" for extra damage, or "Metamorphosis" for a quick "Thousand-Eyes Restrict". Plus they combo very well with the soon to be back "United We Stand". All and all a great all...
By now you know that I adore the weird cards, the ones that have potential but hardly anyone plays in a competitive deck. Fairy Box fits that bill perfectly. Go ahead, snicker, point, demean me....and go onto the next thread. Now, for those of you who LOVE to annoy your opponent, make them uncertain, and make them tempt fate...read on. Card # LON-EN024 Card Name Fairy Box Card Type Trap Is Counter No Is Continuous Yes Card Text Each time a monster on your opponent's side of the field attacks, toss a coin and call Heads or Tails. If you call it right, the attacking monster's ATK becomes 0 only during the Battle Phase. Pay 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases. If you do not, this card is destroyed...
I'm in the process of making a Stall Burn Deck, and was wondering which monster would be better for me to add. Peten is great becasue he can fetch copies of himself (thus thinning my deck), although his ability isn't always able to be used (for example if his timing is missed, or if Jowgen the Spiritualist is on the field (no special summons). Spriit reaper is great though, since he can't die in battle (certinally better against Fiend decks). I've thought about using both, but I don't have the deck space, and was wondering if Spirit Reaper's abiltiy to stay alive would serve me better in the long run than Peten's ability to fetch copies of itself. The way in which my deck work, Spirit Reaper's discard ability would alomst never...
Maji-Gire Panda Effect Monster (Beast / EARTH / 4 Stars / ATK 1000 / DEF 800) As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time a Beast-Type monster(s) on the field is destroyed, increase the ATK of this card by 500 points. This card isn't quite as good as you may thing. It combos well with "Rescue Cat" (common theme here), but part of the trick to using him well is getting enough other beasts on the field to destroy. Granted, get 2 destroyed and you have a solid card. Unfortunately, since it only looks at "Beasts" destroyed, you can have "Tribe-Infecting Virus" out there to kill off all beasts and hope for a big boost. He can work with Scapegoat though (since they are considered Beasts as well). All and all though...
You can only activate this card when you activate one of your Normal Spell Cards. Discard all the cards in your hand to the Graveyard. The effect of this card becomes the same as the Normal Spell Card. I feel this card was overlooked upon its release, but now that Graceful Charity and Delinquent Duo are returning from the Ban list i feel this card will see alot of play, after thinking briefly of what Would be copyable, Remember Serial spell only copies the effect not the cost, but you must discard at least one card from your hand, Pot of greed, Draw 4 cards Graceful charity, draw 3 discard 2 draw 3 discard 2, Delinquent Duo, pay 1000, discard 4 cards from opponits hand Nobleman of Crossout, remove 2 opponits f/d monsters Monster...
Catnipped Kitty Effect Monster (Beast / EARTH / 2 Stars / ATK 0 / DEF 500) This card cannot be attacked if there is another Beast-Type monster on your side of the field. Make the DEF of 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field 0 until the End Phase. This effect can only be used once per turn. I like this card. It gives you a "Command Knight" effect as 1/2 of its effect and a "Curse of Anubis" type-effect for the other. It's a nice way you can help get rid of some of your opponent's more troublesome and stronger creatures. Get "Enraged Battle-Ox" out there as well and have some trampling fun. Granted though, only "Beast"-types will help with the first effect (so EB-Ox wouldn't help there), but it is a fun combo to play with...
Manticore of Darkness Effect Monster (Beast-Warrior / FIRE / 6 Stars / ATK 2300 / DEF 1000) During the End Phase of the turn this card is sent to the Graveyard, send 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior or Winged Beast-Type Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. As we get ready to leave the realm of Chaos we get ready to head into the Jungles where Beasts far and wide roam. Thanks to "Flaming Eternity", Beast based decks received some great support. Today though we look at one from an earlier set that should be a staple for the deck regardless if you go straight Beast or themed Beast (Beast, Beast-Warrior, Winged Beast). While at 2300, "Manticore of Darkness" falls...
My Body as a Shield Quick-Play Spell When your opponent activates a card that has the effect that destroys 1 or more monsters on the field, pay 1500 Life Points to negate the activation of the card and destroy it. This is a very under-utilized card because of the price associated with it. However, being as it can work against a monster effect, spell, or trap, it's more flexible than hoping you have "Divine Wrath", "Magic Jammer", or "Seven Tools of the Bandit" handy. Only if the effect is guarenteed to destroy something will you be able to activate this card as a response immediately afterwards. For the 1500 Life Points, you can make sure that the monster(s) you want to keep stay alive. Note that the monster must be destroyed...
