1. Yes, I can't see why not. It involves negateing the effect and "destroying the card" that Special Summons the monster. 2. It is an equip Spell card at that time. My Body as a Shield cannot prevent this. This is because My Body as Shield states "monsters" not "monster cards".

If your opponent chained Mystical Space Typhoon to the activation of Swords of Revealing Light, the monsters would still be flipped face-up kind of thing? I don't really mind it, it makes sense to me.
