Beware the revolution of the Mimics....drawing power returned 8^D

Seriously though, a few other places are hinting that Dark Realm fiends may be the next standard type after this, but I REALLY hope to see some nice tribal warfare going on at the next regional. It seems pretty balanced out to do that.

Hmm what an interesting list, and a few shocks as well, who would have thought Pot of Greed would be banned here and not in Japan. Also, another shocking move to ban Tribe Infecting Virus as well. Certainly an interesting list. People will now start to consider other drawing methods maybe Reckless Greed might seeing more play in decks, or as mentioned The Mimic LV monsters. Possible even Dekochi the Battlechanted Locomotive since it nets you a +1 advantage. I am really happy about Nobleman of Crossout finally being restricted to 1, I hated that card so much and I am relieved to see it there. I wonder what decks we will see now.

I'm not really sure what my new take is on the new list. Personall, I think that Graceful should have stayed around. Also, Hours/Phenoix deck will become the new Chaos. This is because (1) hand can be searched by Sagan, Apprentice Magician, Mystic Tomato, etc (2) Horus the Blackflame Dragon can be Level Uped (and thus brought out from the deck). I can't see anything but a well made stall deck with 3 Jowgen the Spiritualist (to stop Special Summons which are even more vital now, espically ones that thin your deck) could possibly compete since a Horus/Pheonix deck now has more speed than any deck out there.

Royal Decree need to be restricted... badly all trap lines more 95% of the decks out there will now be as follows
1. 3 Royal Decree
2. 2 Royal Decree
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Torrental Tribute

Dark Hole should have never come off of the list. With limited drawing power, that card alone could easily say "I win". They banned Tribe (which did not need to be banned since there are now no free discards) which has a discard cost, and limitations, and unbanned a card that can clear have of the field for free???

Other than that, I like the list. It will certinally make people think more carefully about building their decks, and at least I won't have to see people play five-six pots or gracefuls in one duel. Finally, we might see decks run more monsters, as without Pot and Graceful to thin them down more monsters might be necessary.

P.S. Cyber Dragon should be banned (there should be no way to Tribue Summon a monster in this format on your first turn)and now more than ever, the game needs a mulligan rule (the rule in magic and VS System that says that a player can redraw their opening hand for a price). Any deck can produce a bad hand, and with limited drawing power in this foramt a bad hand will almost always mean that you lose.

Ahh, the other drawing magnet, Des Lacooda. When placed properly with a Swords of Revealing Light, this should get you more draws down the line.

I'm still ultimately bummed that Night Assailant went down to 1, but I guess that's because I abused him too much. I bet it will be run a bit more to help get back the MoFs since she's down to 1.

I'm going out on a limb here, but you might see some Guardian Sphinx action coming into play. With the threat of some Warrior/Dark Realm swarm on the field, you only need a Threatening Roar to stop teh attack and then use a nice flip of the Sphinx to bump the field and move in for 1700 attack, ready to do it next turn if your opponent isn't prepared.

That or Dark Dust Spirit may become another Tribe replacement. I don't know, I've been staring at the 1s and 0s too much today 8^D

Things are really going to have to change in terms of game play strategy. The old combos really aren't worth it anymore if your going to have to go through so much trouble to get to them. It's time to start thinking outside the box.

I Definetly see Horus decks being the deck to beat at first. Just run 2 Royal Decrees, 2 My Body as a Shield, and 2-3 Enemy Controllers. They get Horus LV 8 out on turn 2-3 with Royal Decree and its game. I like the Ban list just should have thought the restricted list out a little more. Well I am taking the next 6 months off anyway.

Good luck playing this format guys I do see a change in the decks being played but there will be one cookie cutter evreryone runs just like all the other formats.

The idea of a new ban list is to PREVENT cookie cutter decks, or a prominent deck type.

Like Digital Jedi said, it's time to start thinking outside the box. That was the problem with the last ban list. Don't fall into thinking that "this deck is better than that deck."

With this new ban list, hopefully all decks are on the same level and it will come down to a duelist's skills.

I CAN'T WAIT for this ban list. I'm really excited to bring back my Horus deck now, which I was thinking of disbanding. No longer! TIV was so frustrating. And MoF to one, that's pretty sweet...no more abuse!

This is an awesome list. Way to go Konami/UDE!

Horus was godly with King Dragon but with the Metamorphosis limited to 1 and so little hand recharge available in this new format Horus becomes easy prey to effect monsters like Penguin Soldier, Exiled Force, Night Assailant, and Guardian Sphinx.

I'm terribly exited to see things tightened up with this new ban. We can actually get more creative. Heavy Storm still should have gone bye-bye, but all in all we've taken a quantum leap out of the cookie cutter zone.

I am going to find Kevin and I am going to trap him in my house...I will then sell my soul to gain magical powers so I can turn him INTO a female and then marry him.

I love this list...I want to create a Public Holiday in its honour.

I pretty much agree with everything, barring perhaps Tribe and Dark Hole. Tribe though, I'm not so concerned about, I can do without it (just with the "free discards" gone (main ones) I see no true reason to get rid of this), but Dark Hole sort of annoys me.

Don't get me wrong, though I disagree with it coming back, I at least can UNDERSTAND it coming back...in fact, it's really quite simple.

On the ban list (April 1st) we had Raigeki, Dark Hole and Harpies Feather Duster. R and HFD are understandable...yet if we were to ban the no cost Dark Hole for it's field clearing ability (monster wise)...why not Heavy Storm (spell/trap wise)? In essence...the effects of both are the same, just they affect different cards.

So now, we have the bullcrud Raigeki and HFD banned, and the lesser (yet still annoying) Dark Hole and Heavy Storm restricted to one.

But by far...I believe I suffered multiple heart attacks of joy over the ban...FINALLY...of Ring of Destruction! My Reversal Deck can finally be free of that annoying card being a thorn in my side. Sure there are others to screw me up...but they aren't used often at all by people.

Speaking of...I should post that for fixes and so on.

OK, in terms of the cards lost:
BLS-EoTB and Delinquent Duo - Good riddence.

I'll miss Sinester, PoG and Ring, but ok.

Graceful fair enough.

Bringing back Dark Hole (kills everything) when banning Mirror Force (only attack position monsters) and TIV (only face up monsters)? WTF?
Play Dark Hole at the start of your turn and summon after, clear field, yay! attack!

The new list has also encouraged swarm by leaving UWS but baning Mirror Force, add to that Vampire Lord now being allowed 3 per deck I'm fairly sure the new meta will be zombie swarm since this also allows a fair degree of hand control and with the main drawing cards gone they'll be pretty sweet at it two. Add in the wonderous Book of Life and you have up to 5 reborns per standard zombie deck. The counter to this may be that more Gravekeeper Decks will also crop up but this is a maybe. With Marauding at 3 there'll be some warrior swarm but not as much as the zombie swarms I'd say.

I don't see any reason for stall to decline as Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area-B are both still at 2 per deck.
Restricting TER wasn't needed once they restricted Metamorphosis since that was the main way people were getting it out in the first place.

Oh well at least BLS-EoTB is gone....

Interesting. Now the duelists are forced to pay more attention to strategy. More deck themes shall appear...

I'm reliefed that Cyber Jar is still resticted, yet not banned.

Surely you jest!!

By limiting Magician of Faith and Tsukuyomi to one, a well placed Heavy Storm, and Mobius the Frost Monarch takes out those Gravity Binds and Level Limit - Area B's. Not to mention, Horus LV6 and Silent Swordsman LV5 are quiet immune to opponents Spells. Plus, there's still Jinzo and Royal Decree, if you dont use him.
Well I don't know how you played but the only stall decks I ever had with more than one Magician of Faith were those which relied too much on Wave Motion Cannon to beat the opponent.
Not that many decks carry Mobius outside the water ones, Heavy Storm, Breaker and MST are really all you have to worry about. Horus is difficult to get enough of the cards and even more difficult to get them on the field if you do play them, one good trap card/monster effect can kill them and most stalls will have plenty of return to hand type cards. Silent Swordsman suffers the same problems of a Horus deck.

And remember for stalls there's also Messenger of Peace, Gravekeeper's Servent, Toll and The Dark Door.

Tsukuyomi is more mill specific than stall, most stalls can get away without it, it's only the ones relying specifically on flip effects.

I realize a lot of people run three Magicin of Faiths. But I for the life of me cant figure out why. Thats three weak monsters that you may or may ot ge the effect from. I see more of weakness in running her in threes then in ust running one anyway and would never run more then that and maybe a Mask of Darkness.

I think maybe you guys have been seeing just one type of stall build, because Mobius the Frost Maonarch and Heavy Storm have always been a problem for Stall. But a very small problem. Well placed Magic Jammers, Cursed Seals of the Forbidden Spell, Judgment of Anubis...well you get the idea. Stall hasn't been affected much at all by this. And I should know. ;) Know stall/deck-out on the othe hand, thats a different story. but who else besides me runs that?

This will hopefully open up some interesting tactics with EEN and other released sets until the next list. On top of that, it'll help shape up how themed decks such as Fiend, Dark Magician/Spellcaster, FINAL, etc. reach the top in large events and maybe even win them..

I've made some future adjustments to my Dark Magician deck (don't think I've posted it yet) and the ban list basically hurts by one real card. Pot of Greed. Not like that fact doesn't hurt the speed of many other decks.

Finding new ways to coop with Hand Control is a big tactic we'll have to deal with. Forced Requisition might help with that a little bit. =/

Aside from that I'm interested to see what kind of decks will be used outside of the obvious ones. I know my local players are going to be pissed. But none of them go to major events...sooo, I'll have to explain everything to them again like how we got our last list...-_-
