Skill Drain Continuous Trap Pay 1000 Life Points. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, negate the effects of all face-up Effect Monsters on the field. Skill Drain is one of the most versatile and underused cards, hands down. Not to mention one of the most misunderstood. Skill Drain negates the effects of ALL monsters on the field. Flip effects DO NOT get activated because the monsters are flipped face-up and when they are, they get negated. And yet certain monsters on the field can get around Skill Drain, mainly those with "trigger effects," certain cost effects that allow you to tribute said card for its effect, for example. Exiled Force gets around SD this way. Tribe-Infecting Virus, although you can discard for...
Earth/Beast/1/300/250 Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, increase the ATK of all EARTH monsters by 500 points and decrease the ATK of all WIND monsters by 400 points. No published rulings at this time. Today on Kitty week (don't ask), we take a look at a cat from the second eariliest set to hit the states: Milus Radiant. A strange name for a strange, I mean STRANGE-looking cat. Like yesterday's panda, this card makes an excellent choice for the Rescue Cat effect. More than small enough for the effect and its own effect will want you to make both monster you bring out copies of Milus Radiant. This little guy is a walking Gaia Power only it also effect weaknes WIND monsters (enemy attribute of...
Card Name: Mefist the Infernal General Sources: DCR-066 (Rare), DB1-EN228 (Common) Stats: Effect Monster Fiend / DARK / 5 Stars / ATK 1800 / DEF 1700 Text: When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, discard 1 card randomly from your opponent's hand. Rulings: [Re: Magical Thorn] The effect of "Magical Thorn" is applied when the opponent discards during the End Phase to make their hand size 6, discarding for the cost of cards such as "Tribute to the Doomed", "Cost Down", or "Judgment of Anubis", and discarding for card...
(EARTH/Rock/3/800/700) FLIP: Return all Monster Cards on the field to their respective Decks and shuffle them. You and your opponent then pick up cards until you both have the same number of Monster Cards that were returned to each Deck. Special Summon the Level 4 or lower monsters to the field in face-down Defense Position. The rest of the cards picked up are discarded to the Graveyard. Rulings: [Re: Adhesion Trap Hole] "Adhesion Trap Hole" cannot affect monsters Special Summoned face-down with "The Shallow Grave", "Morphing Jar #2", etc. [Re: Gradius' Option] If you pick up "Gradius' Option" by the effect of "Morphing Jar #2" you cannot Special Summon it, and it is sent to the Graveyard. [Re: Rivalry of Warlords] As long as "Rivalry...
Dark/Spellcaster/4/1600/1000 Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned successfully, put 1 Spell Counter on it (max. 1). Increase the ATK of this card by 300 points for each Spell Counter on this card. Also, remove 1 Spell Counter from this card to destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. Rulings 1. Placing a Spell Counter on "Breaker, the Magical Warrior" is a chain that begins after it is Summoned. If your opponent chains "Trap Hole" or "Ring of Destruction" to the placement of a Spell Counter on "Breaker, the Magical Warrior", "Trap Hole" / "Ring of Destruction" resolves before the Spell Counter is placed on "Breaker, the Magical Warrior", so you cannot chain "Breaker, the Magical Warrior"'s effect. 2. "Breaker...
Dark/Beast/3/800/1600 Effect: Increase the ATK of this card by 500 points for each monster on your opponent's side of the field. When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.[/I] Rulings 1. When "Gyaku-Gire Panda" is equipped with "Rod of the Mind's Eye" and attacks, the Battle Damage is 1000 points. This week we're featuring cards for a particular decktype: Rescue Cat deck. That's right. The cat's outta the bag and today's its in the form of Gyaku-Gire Panda. Hear me out before you start complaining that "a panda is a not a cat." For those of you who don't know what Rescue Cat does, it allows...
Silent Magician LV8 Light/Spellcaster/8/3500/1000 Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Silent Magician LV4". This card is unaffected by the effects of your opponent's Spell Cards. There are no published rulings for "Silent Magician LV8". Shhhhh. A card whose name may only be spoken whispers, ahem I mean, today's card is none than the Silent Magician LV4's promoted form: Silent Magician LV8. Ok, first of all, like all final LV monsters that are LV7 or greater, its a nomi monster. It cannot hit the field under circumanstances other than through the special summon requirement and through the effect of Level Up!. Once it goes, its gone. And with...
Silent Magician LV4 (LIGHT/Spellcaster/4/1000/1000) Each time your opponent draws a card(s), place 1 Spell Counter on this card (Max: 5 Counters). For each Spell Counter on this card, increase it's ATK by 500 points. When there are 5 Spell Counters on this card, during your next Standby Phase send this face-up card to the Graveyard and Special Summon 1 "Silent Magician LV8" from your Hand or Deck. There are no published rulings for this card yet. Spell Counter week keeps on churning with Silent Magician LV4, the newest addition to the Spellcaster family. Silent Magician LV4 has extreme potential, and I can already tell before even using it. There are so many ways to abuse its effect and I think it's a beautiful monster. And the thing...
Panther Warrior Effect Monster - EARTH/Beast-Warrior ATK: 2000, DEF: 1600 4-Star "This card cannot attack unless you Tribute 1 monster on your side of the field." There are no published rulings for "Panther Warrior" at the present time. We keep tin week rolling with Panther Warrior, a card most of us were introduced to by Joey Wheeler from the GameBoy video games and anime. Panther Warrior boasts an impressive 2000 ATK in a 4-star monster. 1600 DEF isn't outstanding, but it makes it more Book of Moon and Tsukuyomi proof than most monsters with his attack value. EARTH has massive support, and Beast-Warrior is a very viable deck-type when paired up with Beasts. So with all the good, there must be a bad right? You must...
Today I will talk about The Unhappy Maiden, of the MRD/DB2-booster. It is a card that is not used, or at last not much. It has a quite nice effect: When this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, the Battle Phase for that turn ends immediately. There are no rulings for this card (maybe because the text is as clear as possible? :D ). The Unhappy Maiden is a Spellcaster of the LIGHT-side of the game. It has got 0 ATK-points and 100-DEF points. It can't be really compared to another monster or a S/T-card, since it has got a unique effect. The best use for it is when you have almost no monsters on the field. When your opponent attacks it, the opponent will have often no Battlephase anymore in his/her turn. However...
Royal Magical Library Effect Monster - LIGHT/Spellcaster 4-Star ATK: 0, DEF: 2000 "Each time you or your opponent activates 1 Spell Card, put 1 Spell Counter on this card (max. 3). Remove 3 Spell Counters from this card to draw 1 card from your Deck." Rulings: [Re: Gorgon's Eye] If a Defense Position monster has Spell Counters, like "Skilled White Magician" or "Royal Magical Library", the Spell Counters are removed if "Gorgon's Eye" is activated. [Re: Null and Void] You can chain "Null and Void" to the effect of "Royal Magical Library". Spell Counter weeks rolls right along with another monster from Magician's Force - what a coincidence, eh? LIGHT is well supported, and Spellcaster support is on the rise. An ATK of 0 is...
Fire/Spellcaster/4/1400/1700 Effect: Each time you or your opponent activates 1 Spell Card, put 1 Spell Counter on this card. Remove any number of Spell Counters to destroy 1 face-up monster on the field with an ATK equal to or less than 700 points x the number of removed Spell Counters. Rulings 1. If "Rush Recklessly" is chained to the effect of "Blast Magician", and the ATK of the target monster is now higher than 700 x the number of Spell Counters removed, the effect of "Blast Magician" disappears. You cannot remove additional Spell Counters to increase the effect. 2. This is an effect that targets. 3. You must remove at least 1 Spell Counter. You cannot activate the effect and remove zero Spell Counters. 4. As...
Magical Marionette (DARK/Spellcaster/5/2000/1000) Each time you or your opponent activates 1 Spell Card, put 1 Spell Counter on this card. Increase the ATK of this card by 200 points for each Spell Counter on this card. Also, remove 2 Spell Counters from this card to destroy 1 monster on the field. Rulings There is no limit to the number of Spell Counters you can have on "Magical Marionette". Removing Spell Counters from "Magical Marionette" to use its effect is a cost. You can use "Magical Marionette"'s effect multiple times in the same turn, as long as you have enough Spell Counters to pay the cost. You can destroy "Magical Marionette" with its own effect. If you activate a Spell Card, and your...
Seeing as there are 6 tins, but 7 days in the week... today is Reviewer's Choice day. Each of us will review a favorite card of ours. Hope you enjoy! Feel free to throw in your $0.02 and even review your own favorite.
Dark Magician Girl (DARK/Spellcaster/6/2000/1700) Increase the ATK of this card by 300 points for each "Dark Magician" or "Magician of Black Chaos" in either player's Graveyard. Rulings: [Re: Lone Wolf] If you have "Monk Fighter" targeted by "Lone Wolf", the following are examples of monster effects that will NOT be negated because they are not applied to a monster: "Airknight Parshath" (damage is inflicted and a card is drawn), "Fiber Jar" ("Monk Fighter" is shuffled into the Deck), "Maju Garzett" (the ATK of "Maju Garzett" does not become 0), "Susa Soldier" (the damage to Life Points is still halved), "Dark Magician Girl" (her ATK is still increased by her effect), "Stone Statue of the Aztecs" (Battle Damage to your Life Points...
Dark/Beast-Warrior/4/1900/1200 This wicked Beast-Warrior does every horrid thing imaginable and loves it! His axe bears the marks of his countless victims. No published rulings Today on Tin week, we take look at another good Beast-warrior: Vorse Raider. What can I say? Another normal LV 4 monster with 1900 ATK. Like we don't have plenty of those as it is. In its defenese, it did come out before 1900 started becoming so common. Ok, so we now have 1900 hitter for beast-warriors. And just like Exarion Universe, this guy's a Dark monster. Makes ya wonder why aren't they fiends. Heck, the flavor text on this one makes him sound worst than vilest person you can think of that existed though the last sentence is watered down...
Rocket Warrior (LIGHT/Warrior/4/1500/1300) This effect is only active during the Battle Phase of your turn. Battle Damage to this card and this card's controller that they take from a battle involving this card becomes 0. After damage calculation, decrease the ATK of the monster that was attacked by this card by 500 points until the end of this turn. *There are no published rulings for Rocket Warrior. Straight out of the new tins comes Rocket Warrior, a monster that would've been more appreciated and used had it been released a year ago. Nevertheless, it's still a pretty good card and can be used pretty well. Personally, I think it's so-so, and would rather use a card like Slate Warrior or Dark Jeroid if I wanted to weaken a...
Gilford the Lightning Effect Monster - LIGHT/Warrior ATK: 2800, DEF: 1400 8-Star "If you Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 3 monsters, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field." There are no published rulings for "Gilford the Lightning" at the current time. Gilford the Lightning is sexiness personified. LIGHT is well supported and Warrior support is all over the place, too. He has nice high attack, although his defense is somewhat sub-par. He has a great effect, let's take a look. Gilford the Lightning requires 2 Tributes to summon normally. You can avoid this however by using Kaiser Sea Horse. But wait, there's more. If you Tribute three monsters to summon Gilford, he gets a Raigeki-like effect. Since Kaiser...
Dark/Beast-Warrior/4/1800/1900 Effect: You can only activate this effect during a Battle Step of your turn. Decrease the ATK of this card by 400 points, then during battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points. This effect continues until the End Phase of the turn this effect is activated. No published rulings. This week will be looking at the promos that came out of the newest set of tins. Today we review Exarion Universe. A strange name for a strange looking monster. Ok, this card has stats of 1800/1900. That makes it a considerably strong attacker and pretty good defense monster...
Gearfried the Swordmaster (Effect Monster - LIGHT/Warrior - 7-stars - ATK: 2600, DEF: 2200) "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Release Restraint". When this card is equipped with an Equip Card, destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field." If you Tribute 1 "Gearfried the Iron Knight" to activate "Release Restraint", then chain "Serial Spell", you can Special Summon 2 "Gearfried the Swordmaster" cards from your Deck. The Equip Card must be successfully equipped to "Gearfried the Swordmaster" to activate his effect. For example, if "Mystical Space Typhoon" is chained to the activation of an Equip Card, it is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard before...
