I'l look into it. Good idea on the limited thing too. It doesn't neccessarily have to be a product that we sell all the time. Make it something rare and people will probably be more inclined to want one.

See guys think small every once in a while. The bigger picture just gets more blurry the more ya look at it ok. the simplest ideas are usually the best.

Actually, I've priced this out before (custom playmats), but from a mousepad vendor. I was looking at roughly $18.00/pad, in quantities of no less than 100 for a 1/16" mouse pad of the proper size and "standard" inking.

I lost the link, but if you start Googling "custom mouse pads" you can find them.

$1800.00 plus shipping is far too much to plunk down for some freebies.

Mick's idea isn't bad, and almost as expensive. The last time I tried, the best I could get was $9.00/pad for blank white ones and then you still have to have it inked. Iron-ons are really expensive and take a long time. Silk screening (I think that's what they do) by a professional is also very costly and usually requires bulk orders as well.

FWIW, I have a custom-made "deluxe" EGI Yu-Gi-Oh! playmat template here. I bought two extra large mouse pads and cut them up, drew out the zones, etc. It's pretty nice. 2 RFP areas and a nice french curve thing at the top that allows 2 pads to be pushed together without overlapping. I also envisioned a small plastic barrier on the far left as a dice catcher kinda thing. I have the design on paper as well, but never transferred it into Photoshop or anything like that.

I can dig it out and post pics later if you're interested. It doesn't have nice artwork or anything on it, just a purple pad with a ton of design and layout marks all over it.

This is what I was trying to get back into when I was looking for the Kanji symbols the other day. I wanted it to be a pseudo-japanese style. Clean, gray pad with white and black zones/artwork/kanji/etc. And of couse a big ol' EGI logo at the upper middle center along with a www.netrep.net at the bottom.

I know a guy..... But then, I'm certain that's not what you wanted to hear. :D (I also know a guy who sells incense. His name is "Smell Good". Seriously. )

I know a guy called the "Mouse King", but I fail to see how that's relevant :D LOL.

PS - You do not talk about the Mouse King. You just don't.

You had to go to Reno to qualify???

Meh, they had only like 6 rounds. Thats so sad. =/ Why are my events always 8 rounds?
Yes i went to Reno. Yes i qualiified there. Yes there were only 6 rounds... but it was not as sad as you think it was. It was a decent regional, with about 1-5 scrubs in attendance. The bulk of the regional was Sacramento,CA and Bay Area (San Francisco) people. There was a 8 Nationals Player in attendance, a SJC Top 4 player in attendance, a top 8 nationals guy, and a few comic oddssy players were there.

So it wasnt a "easy" or "sad" regional as some may think. I can honestly say, i "earned" my invite.

Now to get on topic ;) Everyone whos going, be sure to stop by and say hi to the guys where the "The Syndicate" t-shirts, as thats me and my team :)

By sad, I meant that its so sad that my events go on for so long and theirs are so short. I wasn't talking about the competition or the players at all. Hahaha.

Thank you PES and UDE

I had a great time at Nationals. I got to meet so many new judges and the PES members running the event such as:

Mike Guptil
Danielle Mangin
Kristin Allison
David Rappaport
Frank Debrito
Jeff Richardson
Simon Key
Robert Craft
Simon Sangpukdee
Jonathan Castellanos
Trevor Eckersley
Jerome McHale
Julia Hedberg
Bill Skitt

Since I was a Side Event judge, they kept us busy with Win a Box tournaments and Booster Drafts, as well as the Jr. and regular Regionals. So we were a little left out of the excitement of Nationals, but players' and fellow judges' reports made up for that.

In addition, I took the LV3 rulings test on Saturday and was a little frustrated with some of the questions that were being asked. In the first pass, I read the questions and was like: You got to be kidding me???!!! I couldn't believe they asked some of the most bizarre and tricky questions. I honestly thought it was a very very challenging test and did not expect to pass at all, but to my astonishment, I did, with a 90! Yay!! Go me!

After Sunday's events, there was a judge dinner and we shared stories of some of the great plays/top decks/misplays and judge calls we received throughout this event. Some of the things that happened were hilarious.

I feel really honored to be able to work with these top notch LV2 and LV3 judges at the biggest YGO event of 2006. These guys are truly amazing, both in their knowledge and character.

Finally, I also want to thank PES for giving me this rare and valuable opportunity to judge Nationals. It was a fantastic weekend for many of us.

Word, MUCHO CONGRATS Magnumcyclonex. I didn't pass my L3 but I COMPLETELY know what you mean by the "what the heck" type scenario for the questions involved.

Congrats again! You deserve it.

Nationals was a blast! It was the best run event I've ever had the pleasure of working, it was just amazing!

It was defintely an honor getting to meet members of the COG family!

Simon Choy - Mortals
Simon Sanpungkdee (sp?) - Shai-hulud
Winston - magnumcyclonex (congrats on the L3!)
Chris Goff - Bigoldprankster
Somewan - I can't remember who...lol....;-P...j/k.
Julia - Purity

I didn't get the chance to meet Michael Palmer, aka helpoemer **sniffle** :-(

But I did get to meet all the 'big wigs', which was awesome!

Kevin Tewart
Dan Scheidegger
Justin Reily
Ian Estrin

And then there was...

Curtis Schultz
Jason Grabber-Meyer
Jerome McHale (sp?)
John Lacy
Frank Debrito

I was soooo starstruck!...lol.

Yes, meeting the 'Simons' was definitely an experience I'll soon not forget!...lol.

And it was very weird yelling my name out when I needed one of you.
And every time somebody else yelled "Simon!"...lol.

oh...and I LOSE!!...lol

So is there a picture of the "Clash of the Simons" ? I think it would make a nice header for CoG here 8^D

A couple of people took pictures of us, but I don't think they'll end up anywhere...**sniffle***
