Gibberish Shmibberish
Effect. Dark/Fiend 1500/1500
When your opponent activates Hieroglyph Lithograph, you may discard this card to activate its effect. For the remainder of the duel, your opponent's hand size limit becomes 0.

next Cerycis (means: heralds)

Cerycis
Continuous Trap
This card's effect activates during each of your Standby Phases (it is not optional). Your opponent must call out the names of any monster with which he or she will attack during his or her following turn. Your opponent may not attack with any monster he or she did not name in your preceeding Standby Phase. If he or she does not attack with each and every monster he or she named, you gain 500 Life Points per named monster.

Next Card: A Binding Contract With An Unpleasant Businessman

Binding Contract With An Unpleasant Businessman
Ritual Spell
This card is used to ritual summon "The Death Collector." You must also Tribute monsters whose total level equals 8 or more from your side of the field or from your hand.

Next card: The Death Collector

The Death Collector

Card Type: Ritual Monster
Attribute: Fiend
Type: Dark
Level: 8
ATK: 0
DEF: 0
Effect: You can only activate this effect once per turn, during your Main Phase. Your opponent's life points are halved. Your opponent can discard their entire hand to negate this effect. This effect cannot be activated if your opponent has no cards in their hand.

Next Card: Chronos, Lord of Time (Machine/Effect)
(The next person might want to do a lord of space, it would make a nice pair)

Chronos, Lord of Time
Effect Monster (Spellcaster / LIGHT / 9 Stars / ATK 2700 / DEF 2100)
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned from your hand or your Deck by Tributing 1 "Time Wizard" on your side of the field when you succeed in the effect of "Time Wizard". Once per turn during your Main Phase, you can toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field. (This is treated as being successful in the effect of "Time Wizard".) If you call it wrong, lose Life Points equal to the total ATK of all the monsters on your side of the field.

Next card: Vortes, Lord of Space

Vortes, Lord of Space
[Dark / Spellcaster / Fusion / 9 Stars /ATK 3200 / DEF 0]
Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin + Neo-Spacian Dark Panther + Neo-Spacian Flare Scarab
This card can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, discard one card from your hand. After that, you may change the Battle Position of any monster on the field, flip any monster face-down or face-up, move any monster into any open monster card zone, swap the ATK and DEF of any monster with that of any other monster on the field, and exchange any monster on either player's side of the field with any monster from that player's Graveyard. The total number of monsters on the field must not change.

Next Card: Pleading the Fifth (I'd suggest this to be some kind of Counter Trap)

Pleading the Fifth
Counter Trap
When your opponent activates a card that requires a player to declare card name(s), type(s) or attributes(s), negate the effect and return the card to bottom of the owner's Deck.

Next Up: Descension Factor

Descension Factor
[Field Spell Card]
Any decreases applied by other card effects to the ATK or DEF of any monster or to either player's Life Points will also be applied to all other monsters or the other player.

Next Card: Retention Tractor

Descension Factor
Field Spell
Increase the ATK and DEF of all "Zodiac" monsters by 200. When your "Zodiac" monster is sent to the Graveyard by battle, increase your Life Points by 500.

Next card: Aries, Ram of the Zodiac
(Why not do a run of something different, namely 12 monsters for the 12 signs of the Zodiac? Maybe even some support cards)

Jathro said:
:huh Was it something I said?
Yes, it is. If I had to take a guess, the other CoGers are experiencing the same feelings you and I get regularly. The Zodiac are an elaborate portion of mythology about which I know nothing. I hope I don't mess this up too terribly.

I'm thinking maybe to make these thematic, we should make all the signs be Light, and have their main type vary according to constellation.

Aries, Ram of the Zodiac
[Light / Beast / 5 Stars / ATK 2200 / DEF 1200]
During your Main Phase, select a number of Zodiac monsters face-up on your side of the field, not including this monster. This monster may attack a number of times equal to the number of monsters you selected. If it does, those monsters may not attack this turn.

Next Card: Gemini, Twins of the Zodiac

Yes. Yes it was.

I had an idea that maybe the Zodiac monsters would be Normal Monsters. It'd be an interesting Deck type, certainly, and one with much forgotten support (along with extra Zodiac-specific booster cards).

Aries, Ram of the Zodiac
Normal Monster (Beast / LIGHT / 4 Stars / ATK 1600 / DEF 1200)
"This creature comes straight from the stars. Aries is quick-tempered and doesn't hesitate to charge its opponents."

Retention Tractor
Effect Monster (Machine / EARTH / 3 Stars / ATK 400 / DEF 1100)
When this card is destroyed by a card effect, Special Summon 1 Beast or Plant-Type monster from the same place this card is sent.

Next card: Zap Cannoneer

EDIT: Darn you, Jason. What were the odds?

Well now we're going to have to take a vote on what theme of Zodiac we're going for.

Nevermind; I like Maruno's idea better anyways.

Zap Cannoneer
[Continuous Trap Card]
Every time you or your opponent Summons a Thunder-type monster, inflict 1000 Life Points of damage to your opponent.

...

Yes, I know, it's broken as heck. But with the Thunder-type monsters we have, it STILL wouldn't make them competitive.

Next Card: Gemini, Twins of the Zodiac

Gemini, Twins of the Zodiac
Effect Monster (Spellcaster / LIGHT / 4 Stars / ATK 1600 / DEF 600)
Tribute this card to Special Summon 2 "Gemini Token"s (Spellcaster / LIGHT / 4 Stars / ATK 1600 / DEF 1000). These Tokens cannot be Tributed. While there are exactly 2 "Gemini Token"s on your side of the field, each "Gemini Token" gains 300 ATK and DEF.

Next card: Pisces, Fish of the Zodiac

Okay, since Maruno's going with my idea, I'll just ... umm.

Pisces, Fish of the Zodiac
[Light / Fish / 3 Stars / ATK 553 / DEF 227]
As long as there is another Zodiac monster on your side of the field, this card may attack your opponent's Life Points directly in addition to its normal attack each turn. If this card's normal attack cannot be conducted due to the effect of "Aries, Ram of the Zodiac", this card may still attack directly. Increase this card's ATK by 500 if there is a "Taurus, Bull of the Zodiac" face-up on your side of the field.

Next Card: Taurus, Bull of the Zodiac

We certainly don't have to keep this going to fill up all the signs, though. Perhaps we should take it as a sign that forced archetypes are a bad idea.

Taurus, Bull of the Zodiac
Effect Monster (Beast / LIGHT / 6 Stars / ATK 2250 / DEF 1700)
Once per turn during your Main Phase, you can move this card to an adjacent Monster Card Zone (if it is empty). When this card attacks, your opponent's Spell or Trap Card in the same column of this card cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step. When this card battles with a monster, this card gains 200 ATK.

Next card: Aquarius, Water-Bearer of the Zodiac

Aquarius, Water-Bearer of the Zodiac
Effect Monster (Aqua / LIGHT / 4 Stars / ATK 1000 / DEF 2000)
Each time a "Zodiac" Monster is Special Summoned, gain 500 Life Points per monster.

Next card: Cancer, Fierce Crab of the Zodiac

Cancer, Fierce Crab of the Zodiac
Effect Monster (Sea Serpent / LIGHT / 4 stars / ATK 1600 / DEF 1050)
As long as there is no Light monsters on your oppoenent's side of the field, this card can attack twice. If you do, you cannot attack the next turn.

Next Card: Leo, Lion of the Zodiac

Leo, Lion of the Zodiac
Effect Monster (Beast-Warrior / LIGHT / 8 Stars / ATK 2800 / DEF 1900)
You can Normal Summon this card by offering 1 "Zodiac" Monster as a Tribute. If this card is Norman Summoned in that way, your opponent can draw 1 card. This card is unaffected by the effects of Trap cards.

Next card: Scorpio, Scorpion of the Zodiac

Scorpio, Scorpion of the Zodiac
[Light / Insect / 9 Stars / ATK ? / DEF ?]
This card's ATK and DEF becomes equal to the combined ATK and DEF of all Zodiac monsters in your Graveyard, but neither its ATK nor DEF can exceed 8000.

Next Card: Sagittarius, Centaur of the Zodiac
