Any time it is not spelled out clearly there is usually another indicator. In this case it was "target defender" Since the character is only a defender during the attack, as soon as that attack ends it is no longer a defender and thus the effect that targets the defender ends.

If you won the first game and the second game is a draw, play the 3rd game. If time is called before the 3rd game finishes then you win the match.
When time is called, turn player finishes the turn. Then you look at the game score (number of wins and losses of games that have been completed)...
One more clarification. When you are playing a normal spell, the effect is 'activated' when you initially play the card and the effect goes on the chain. That is why if there is an activation requirement, then it usually only needs to meet the condition when you actually activate the effect...
They changed the text quite some time ago (in one of the starter decks not sure which one) but it is just most noticable in Dark Beginnings because more people are getting the card with the newer text.
They changed the text because they got tired of people asking why it was ruled differently...
The least confusing way to do what you want is tribute summon Levia; play Last Will then use Levia's effect which will destroy your other monster and allow you to activate Last Will's effect.

Ah Man!! I'm glad I decided to finish reading this thread. I was going to make this exact same point but I wanted to make sure someone didn't steal my thunder.
Thanks a lot Kenji! LOL :p

Just confirming (since mortals was not positive ;)), It does not affect face down monsters and he is correct that it allows itself to break the rules. ALL CCGs have one caveat to their rules in common, and that is that a card's text can break any of the current rules. [;->

What are the continuous effects you are talking about? SABT is a trigger effect not a continuous effect. The only Continuous Effect is the DNA Surgery. And yes if DNA surgery is on the field and a monster is summoned, then it will trigger SABT.
HOWEVER as I said eariler, if they are summoned...
It is answered in the FAQ and if you don't want to go to the official site you can use the 'card registry' tool in the web tools drop down.
Having given that information here is the answer to the original question (from the FAQ).
"If "Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower" and several other Zombie-Type...
You can not special summon a monster by it's own effect except during one of your main phases.
You can special summon monsters by other card effects at any time that it is legal to activate the other card effect.
Hope that helps.

Here is an easy way to handle Skill Drain.
If the monster that created the effect is on the field and Skill Drain has resolved and is active, when the monster's would resolve, then the monster's effect is negated.
If the monster is not on the field OR if Skill Drain is not resolved and...
The general rule of thumb is if you are playing the effect and you are choosing which monster you want the card to affect it targets. If the card is determining the monster or if it affects all monsters (ie Dark Hole/Raigeki) then it does not target. There are a few that seem like they would not...
Key part of the text on tthe card is "end phase of the turn that this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or flipped face up". So since it is no longer the same turn then the spirit will not return to your hand.

It is in the FAQ. If you check the card registry on netrep.net (which mirrors the FAQ) it is the 4th ruling under Lava Golem.
I'm going to say it is either a translation issue or a Because Konami Said So situation.

Superman is the card name. Red is just the version. If an effect would apply to other Superman characters it would be templated as "Characters named Superman". Any time a card name is used in the card text, it only refers to that copy of that character.
